Twins of the Abyss
Two different sized suns shone brightly within the violet sky. Their warm white and golden rays danced beautifully together while they descended and gently tickled the colorful flower petals below. Amidst the vast garden stood one of the most gorgeous and lethal individuals in all of existence that even the Divine Council feared. A tall entity whose currently white-silver hair was skillfully braided into an updo around their crown like horns. Blue cobalt and diamond jewelry adorned their scale covered neck, wrists, forehead, clawed fingers, and pointed ears. Massive wings stretched out from the open back of their white and blue robes that billowed out around them in the pleasant breeze. Each wing fluttered slightly as the ancient being calmly selected a few gold roses and added them to the bouquet in their hands.
Awe filled the duo who were observing the entity from outside their lair’s barrier. After all, they both grew up hearing the numerous tales about the Supreme Ruler of the Abyss. An existence whose origin was unknown to all known Gods, including those who had retired eons ago.
In fact, every single Supreme God who inherited the position after the Ruler of the Abyss could not locate any documentation of their ascension or of previous Supremes. Yet they knew that such evidence had to exist. Why else would the eggs they aggressively protected not emit the presence of unborn Gods? They had to have been conceived at some point before the God of the Abyss’ ascension. Although they themselves were abnormal. According to records, Divine Dragon’s eggs never took duodecillions of millenia to hatch. Were they ill? Or was there another reason the God of Abyss’ babies never hatched within their parent’s time as the Supreme God?
Taking a deep breath to soothe their nerves, the God Victory turned their attention to the young deity accompanying them. Their reptilians sparkled at the thought of finally meeting their hero.
“Remember, Eean. Be polite and don’t enrage Their Eminence.”
A nod confirmed their heir understood their request.
“Good.”
Doing their best to recall each of the teachings of their predecessor, the God of Fertility, the pine green haired deity reached out towards the transparent barrier. Immediately, it began to ripple in response to his divine energy. Which alerted the owner of the lair of their arrival. Within seconds a beautiful pair of eyes whose depths sparkled like blue and gold stars focused on them. At the exact same time, their extremely long hair transformed into a deep black only comparable to the void of space. Warning the pair that the Ruler of the Abyss was angry with their impromptu visit.
Nervously, the duo descended towards the majestic entity. Ensuring they landed a respectable distance away from the ancient being before swiftly bowing in greeting.
“We greet the Former Supreme God, the Ruler of the Abyss, Your Eminence, Dawa-nim.”
A frown contorted the other’s incredibly attractive face. Neither dared to move while the older existence warily observed them.
“Why in the realms did you come here, Mwayi?”
Every word, an icy dagger of annoyance that stabbed into the God of Victory’s flesh. Except the current Supreme God did not react negatively like their heir had expected them to. Instead, they lowered their head even more motioned to the young deity beside them as they disclosed.
“I apologize for intruding on your peace, Your Eminence. However, as is according to tradition, I have come to introduce my chosen heir to you.”
Chills raced down the youngest of the trio’s back when the unrelenting gaze moved onto them.
“This is Eean, the newest God of Order.”
It was as if their gaze pierced into the depths of the recently coronated heir’s soul.
“I see.”
Their starry eyes then returned to the pine green haired Divine Dragon.
“Now that you have completed such unnecessary customs, leave.”
Incredulity and confusion could be seen in the youngest deity’s shaking reptilians. Why were they getting chased out so soon? Did their hero not approve of them? Had they committed an offence outside of the inheritance traditions? What could they do to earn their blessing? Before they could ask their predecessor for guidance, a child’s voice called out in audible curiosity.
“Amna?”
All attention briskly moved to the source of the voice which was a little hatchling. Their curly hair was like a cloudless night sky that had been tamed and carefully designed into a half updo. Tiny diamond raindrops dangled down from their silver forehead tiara. Below their crystalline forms, a set of wide, bright turquoise eyes with rose pink flecks stared back at them.
“Oh!”
Gasped the God of Victory in realization, but before the outsiders could speak to their child, the ancient entity blocked their view of the hatchling with their wing. They could not let them corrupt their offspring. Nor would they allow them the opportunity to harm them.
“Leave. Now.”
Loose green strands fell onto the ground as the current Supreme attempted to quell the rage of the most overprotective entity they’d ever met.
“Please forgive us, Your Eminence. We were not aware your babies had hatched. I shall ensure no one else intrudes on your domain until you grant us permission.”
Unfortunately, their statement did not achieve what they had hoped. Mini blackholes started to materialize within the space around the ancient deity. Their eyes, now twisting starry nebulas.
“Leave.”
A suffocating aura came from the most majestic existence as they stepped forward and growled.
“If you don’t, I’ll rip you limb from limb and discard your remains into the abyss for all eternity.”
Utter horror replaced the duo’s earlier expressions which intrigued the little hatchling. They had never seen their Amna show such hostility to their guests. Without any sense of caution, the tiny Divine Dragon quietly approached and grabbed hold of their parent’s sleeve. All while innocently peeking out from behind their parent and querying.
“Who are they, Amna?”
To the child’s surprise, their parent pushed them even further behind them and out of view. Only increasing the hatchling’s interest in the pair.
“Have they come to play with us?”
Without taking their eyes off the outsiders, the Ruler of the Abyss firmly instructed their baby.
“Go back inside, Xara.”
“But, Amna~”
Protested the little hatchling with an endearing pout. Their little clawed fingers pulled playfully at their parent’s flowing silk robes.
“Xara.”
Upon hearing the tone of their Amna’s voice when saying their name, the little child realized that their Amna was not in a tolerant mood. This sudden realization caused unease to replace their earlier intrigue. Who were these people to cause their parent’s mood to sour this much? Just as their tiny hands tightened their grip onto their parent’s clothes and hand, a second voice could be heard calling out from behind them.
“Amna? Xaxa?”
This time, a shy child with long black hair shyly peered out from inside the lair. It was very rare that both their sibling and their parent left them alone for this long. Which is why they had come to investigate their prolonged absence. Beautiful red robes with gold embroidery adorned their fragile looking form. Similar to their twin, they wore a delicate forehead tiara. Only theirs was made out of rose gold which complemented their rose gold reptilians. Both the current Supreme God and their heir stared at the extremely adorable hatchling. The younger of the adult’s jaw had even slackened in amazement. Both of the eggs had hatched?! After eons of waiting, both of their eggs had hatched at the exact same?! Such a probability was practically impossible!
Just as the little hatchling was about to step out from the protection of their lair, they noticed how their parent was shielding their twin from some unfamiliar strangers. Their eyes widened as they hugged the thick tome in their arms closer to their chest.
“A-Amna?”
No actual question needed to be spoken. Their parent understood what their child wanted to know through the tone in their voice. Without looking back at their youngest, the ancient deity modified their earlier instructions for the older of the twins.
“Xara. Quickly take Salm and go back inside. Now.”
Squeezing their Amna’s hand twice to confirm they understood, the little hatchling raced over to their dongsaeng and hastily dragged them safely back into their lair. All while committing the two outsiders’ appearances into their memory. Since their Amna deemed them a threat, they would be certain to protect their gentle and caring dongsaeng from them.
Once their children were safe, the ancient entity stepped towards the unwanted visitors. Their patience was rapidly deteriorating. Raising their clawed hand, another black hole formed in the air above their palm. One small, yet hungry as it pulled its surroundings into its very depths.
“Final chance.”
Understanding there would be no reasoning with the God of the Abyss, the younger deities fled and returned to the ethereal realm. With their return, word rapidly spread about the hatchlings’ births. Causing a ripple that would ultimately mark the beginning of the prophesied divide.
