Always be by your side
'This date is just for fun' became a bullshit as Sana went on her date with Nayeon. Indeed, at first, she did this just to relieve all her stress and make herself happy. She enjoyed getting a giddy feeling when she was with Nayeon, but nothing more than that. She had no intention of getting close to the girl, let alone dating her. But as she spent more time with Nayeon, she couldn't help but want to be affectionate towards that girl.
When the rules of their company started to irritate her, that's when she realized that she might want something more from Nayeon. She didn't just want Nayeon to flirt with her or hold her hand. She wanted to shower Nayeon with affection and get showered by the girl's affection without being restricted by any rules. Sana realized that she was starting to see Nayeon as a potential love interest.
Sana thought Nayeon felt the same way. It wasn’t just once that she caught Nayeon staring at her on their date. It wasn’t just once that she caught Nayeon breaking the rules by touching her cheek or shoulder. It wasn’t just once that she caught Nayeon’s cheeks turning red when she complimented her. Sana thought Nayeon was interested in her too. But it seemed like she just got ahead of herself. Nayeon didn’t look for her at all after she gave her rating that night.
"I'm really stupid, aren't I?" Sana said as she was having lunch with her two best friends. "I'm really bad at this kind of thing. she probably just did that because it was her job. I should've know that since I work in the same industry as her."
Momo wanted to say that she had warned Sana before she went on that date, but she knew it wouldn't make her best friend feel any better. Honestly, she felt a little relieved about the situation, but at the same time she also felt guilty for feeling relieved. She shouldn't feel relieved. As Sana's best friend, she should feel sad about the situation. However, she wasn't just her best friend. She was also someone who was secretly in love with her. There was no way she wouldn't feel jealous of someone who caught Sana's attention.
"Maybe she just didn't know how to contact you?" Mina tried to think of some possibilities.
"That's one of my regrets. I didn't give her my number. But, she could have booked me again if she wanted to meet me. Why didn't she do that?"
No one could answer that question and it was enough for Sana to understand that there was no other reason than Nayeon rejecting her and not being interested in her. She was really embarrassed for making that bold move. She wanted the ground to swallow her and bury her deep.
Momo hated seeing Sana's gloomy face. No matter how relieved she was about this situation, she wouldn't let her best friend feel down and unwanted. She wanted to be mad at that Yuri girl for making Sana sad, but she also understood that the girl probably just wanted to maintain professionalism. Hence, all she could do now was to stay by Sana's side and comfort her.
That day, Sana went home earlier than Momo because she only had two classes and she didn’t have any work schedule (she intentionally closed her schedule). When Momo got back to their apartment, she found Sana curled up in her bed. Her entire body was covered by the comforter, not even her head was visible. This was a habit Sana did when she was in a bad mood. She distanced herself from people until she felt better. But the truth was, she never felt better by herself and Momo knew that very well.
After checking on Sana in her room, Momo went to her own room to change into more comfortable clothes. Once she was out of her room, she rushed to the kitchen while tying her hair in a ponytail. She knew what she had to do to make Sana feel better. She had known her best friend for more than half her life. Was there still something she didn't know about her? (Of course, there was still one thing she didn't know about Sana..)
.
.
.
"Sana," Momo called as she placed a plate of pancakes and a glass of orange juice on the nightstand.
"Hmm?" Sana peeked out from behind her comforter.
"I made you pancakes and brought you orange juice," Momo replied before sitting on the edge of Sana's bed.
"Oh okay, thanks," Sana said before covering her head with the comforter again.
Momo put her hand on Sana's head and started caressing it through the comforter. "I don't have anything to do right now. Let's watch Seibja while you eat the pancakes."
"I don't feel like watching anything," Sana replied. It was true that she wasn't in the mood to do anything, but Momo knew that Sana would never refuse to watch a variety show from her favorite idol. Hence, Momo stood up and walked towards the desk to get Sana's laptop.
Momo then sat back on the bed and leaned her body against the headboard. She put Sana's laptop on her lap, opened it, and turned it on. As someone Sana trusted, she had no problem unlocking the laptop. Sana had told her the passwords to all her devices.
"Oh, I didn't know Jihyo went to Thailand," Momo said when she found the latest episode of Seibja. "It looks fun," she continued before clicking on the video.
The first five minutes, Sana was still curled up in her comforter. But after that, she slowly pulled the comforter down and took a peek at the video. She really couldn't resist watching Park Jihyo. Whenever and wherever she heard the idol's voice, she would immediately perk up.
"Do you want to eat your pancakes now?" Momo asked while glancing at Sana. The latter then nodded.
Momo took the plate from the nightstand as Sana slowly sat up. Momo then handed the plate to Sana as she leaned her body against the headboard. "Be careful, the syrup might spill on the bed," Momo said.
"Whose idea was it to give me pancakes on my bed like this?" Sana snorted.
"And who won't leave her bed until she feels better? Isn't that you?" Momo retorted.
Sana rolled her eyes and started eating the pancakes Momo made for her and turned her attention to the video that was playing. They then watched the video in comfortable silence.
“It tasted like home,” Sana said after finishing the pancakes and handing the plate back to Momo. You're my home, she thought as she watched Momo take the plate from her hands.
“Drink.” Momo handed Sana the glass of orange juice.
"Thanks," Sana mumbled after taking the glass from Momo's hand. I wish we could stay in this moment forever, she thought before taking a sip.
After Sana finished her drink, she handed the glass back to Momo and leaned her head on Momo's shoulder. "I think the only one I want right now is Park Jihyo," she said while staring at her favorite idol's face. And also you if you let me, she wished she could say that in front of Momo.
"Yeah I can see that." Momo chuckled before resting her cheek on Sana's head. "I bet you'd ask her to marry you if you ever met her face to face."
"Oh, definitely." Sana giggled.
Marry, huh? Sana started to wonder. Her mind began to wander to the future. What would happen to them in the future? Sana still had a hard time imagining it. Would they live their lives without each other anymore? Oh, Sana couldn't bear to imagine Momo spending her life with someone else. She couldn't bear to imagine Momo sharing her love with someone else. She wanted to be the one who received Momo's love. Was it selfish of Sana to want something like that?
"Momo." Sana suddenly called out.
"Hmm."
"If someday you and I don't get married, let's live in a big house and live the rest of our lives together." Sana smiled at the thought.
"Sana, you're still young. There are still many who want you." Momo thought that Sana was in despair after being rejected by her crush.
“Well, I know that.” Sana rolled her eyes. “I was just wondering about the future. I think I would be okay with spending the rest of my life with you. What about you?”
"I don't mind either. I think it would be fun." It didn't take long for Momo to answer the question. "We could adopt some dogs."
"Oh, right! Dogs running around our house.. oh my god, it would be so cute." Sana squealed happily at the thought.
"We could build a garden behind our house. I know you like that kind of thing."
"I do like that kind of thing, but it's hard to tend. I'm not sure I have the dedication to do that." Sana curled her lips downward.
"You wouldn't be tending it alone. We could do it together or we might hire someone to do it."
"We have to be rich to be able to hire someone to do that."
"And I'll work hard for it." Momo giggled.
"Aww, you want to be the provider," Sana said before taking Momo's hand and placing it on her thigh. She then rubbed circles on the back of Momo's hand.
"Hey, I'm not letting you mooch off me." Momo lifted her cheek from Sana's head, flicked Sana's forehead with her free hand and earned an 'ouch' from Sana. "You have to work too."
Sana lifted her head from Momo's shoulder. "You're mean." She showed her pouting face to Momo before leaning her head back on the shoulder.
After that, they returned their attention to the video and watched in silence again. When the video was almost over, Sana started to slip her hand into Momo's shirt without giving too much thought. She felt that holding Momo's hand wasn't enough. She needed more skin to touch. Hence, she started to touch Momo's abdomen and her thumb started to trace circles on that part. Momo paid no mind on what she was doing.
"I liked this episode," Momo said after the video ended. "What do you want to watch next?"
Sana's hand was still under Momo's shirt and her thumb kept rubbing the Momo's skin. "Hmm.. let's just watch a movie."
Momo then went to Netflix and chose a random movie. Sana didn't question Momo's choice because they often watched random movies. "It looks interesting." That was all Sana said before their movie started.
About twenty minutes into the movie, Sana started to feel the urge to put her hand deeper into Momo's shirt and she did it in the end. Her hand slowly crept up as she paid attention to Momo's reaction. Momo didn't do anything and her eyes were still on the movie they were watching. Sana's hand finally stopped under Momo's bra and her thumb went back to rubbing her skin.
"Sana." Momo suddenly called.
Sana didn't move her hand and her thumb didn't stop rubbing the skin. Her gaze was still fixed on the movie. "What?" she replied.
Momo suddenly grabbed Sana's arm and that made Sana stop what she was doing. "Look at me," Momo asked.
Sana lifted her head and turned her face to Momo. Their eyes met after that and that's when she realized something. Momo's eyes were dark and filled with an emotion that she couldn't read. Momo looked into her eyes as if she was looking at the universe.
"Momo?" Sana tilted her head and looked at Momo in confusion. Her heart started beating fast.
Momo didn't say anything and just released her grip from Sana's arm. She then cupped Sana's cheeks and moved her face forward, closer to Sana's. The world seemed to spin for Sana as Momo did that. Her breath hitched when she felt Momo's breath on her skin. She thought Momo might kiss her at that moment.
"Muah." Surprisingly, Momo did kiss her, but not on the place Sana wanted. Momo only kissed her on the forehead and she pulled away after that.
Kiss me on the lips, you idiot! Sana didn't let the distance between them get any bigger. She immediately pulled Momo's neck and Momo jerked forward. Their faces got closer again and Sana was about to kiss her on the lips, but she hesitated when she saw Momo's eyes avoiding her face. No, I shouldn't do that, Sana thought before intentionally missing Momo's lips by kissing the right corner of her lips.
They then pulled away and Sana caught a very sweet smile on Momo's face. Her heart almost jumped out of her chest when she saw it. "You seem to be in a better mood now." Momo giggled as she ruffled Sana's hair.
"Yeah, thanks to you." Sana looked away and blushed.
"You know I'll always be by your side, right?" Momo pulled Sana's hand to her own thigh and held it tightly. Sana's gaze returned to her. "Even if you end up with someone else, you won't be able to get rid of me that easily." She chuckled.
"I won't let you go easily either." Sana pulled her hand out of Momo's grip to switch their hand positions. Now Sana's hand was holding Momo's hand. "If you run away from me, I will chase you to the ends of the earth," she continued before bringing Momo's hand closer to her lips and kissing the knuckles gently.

Sana considered Nayeon as her fleeting crush. She had only met the girl twice. Basically, they were still strangers who didn't know anything about each other. She thought Nayeon's role in her life was over. She would never meet her again. Her life would go back to normal as if Nayeon had never come into her life. So, she opened her schedule again and went back to working as a rental girlfriend.
"Hi, baby." Sana smiled cheekily as she approached a man who was standing nervously in front of a restauran.
"O-oh, hello!" The man bowed to Sana. His eyes didn't dare to look at her face.
“Did you wait long? Sorry, our professor dismissed the class later than usual.” Sana pouted very cutely. The man blushed after seeing that.
"I-it's okay. I-I just got here." The man stuttered.
"Then, let's go inside?" Sana tilted her head as she wrapped her arm around the man's arm.
Sana led the man and opened the door of the restaurant. When the bell above the door rang, a waiter rushed over to them and told them that there was only one empty table for two. They were obviously fine with it and asked the waiter to usher them to the table.
"Here is your table," the waiter said after ushering them to a table.
Oh shit.
When Sana was just about to pull out a chair to sit down, her eyes met a pair of stunning eyes. A few days ago, she stared at those eyes with so much admiration. She even got lost in those eyes a few times. But after what happened, she couldn't bear to look at those eyes. She immediately turned her gaze to the table and her cheeks started to turn red with embarrassment.
Shit, why is she here? Sana wondered as she averted her eyes from Nayeon who was sitting at the next table. She secretly took a glance at Nayeon from the corner of her eye and found her talking to a man. It didn't take much to figure out that Nayeon was working at that time, just like her.
Oh, this is going to be really awkward..
