Hearing the clicking of heels, Lucy picked her head up from her paper work to see who was walking into the bull pen. Her jaw dropped but she quickly gathered her self. Laying eyes on the beautiful blond woman she spent two nights and three days with six months ago.
Lucy could have sworn she saw Kate widen her eyes and a falter in her steps. But if she did, Kate quickly acted like she did not know Lucy. Simply looked her way with a determined look and said “Where is SAC Tennant’s office?”
Lucy gulped and raised her hand to point at her bosses office, and lost her self in thought over actually seeing Kate again.

Six months ago
Kate was in the shower of her hotel room thinking over her whole trip to Hawaii. Originally just an interview, wanting to move to Hawaii since Noah passed, it was his dream. But now, Kate had to believe this trip was something more. Never in her life has she met a woman as beautiful and captivating as Lucy.
Lucy who was still asleep in the king size bed of her hotel room where she’s been most of the past three days. The two not leaving the bed, or room, much at all. Lucy did insist on showing her some of the island views on their first day.
Kate couldn’t let Lucy go, she had three things on her mind. One was to make things clear with Cara that their back and forth was over for good. Two was to figure out how to tell Lucy she wants more, even though her flight leaves in four hours. And lastly, that her interview went as well as she thought it did so she could be back on the island full time.
Kate shut the water off, stepped out of the shower and started blow drying her hair. Suddenly she saw movement in the mirror and had hands wrapped around her waist.
“When’s your flight leave?”
Kate shut the hair dryer off and turned around to face Lucy. “4 hours.”
“Fuck.”
“Yeah we should.” Kate whispered not being able to resist one last time with the tiny brunette.
“Damn Kate, you’re insatiable huh?” Lucy said starting to nip at Kate’s neck.
“I’m never like this, I need you Lucy, one more?” Kate begged, already wet at the thought of Lucy fucking her again.
Lucy pulled away from where she was leaving another hickey on the blonds collarbone to let out a small moan and say “Jesus Kate that’s so fucking hot, bed?”
“Mhm” was all Kate could get out and let Lucy drag her to bed once more.

Forty five minutes later Kate and Lucy were tangled up for the last few seconds before Kate really had to go or she’d be late for her flight. Thankfully she had thought ahead and packed all her bags the night before.
Lucy’s phone started ringing from the bed side table. Lucy let out a groan and a “fuck” as she rolled over to answer.
Kate didn’t hear much of the conversation, lost in her own thoughts, besides a “yeah I’ll be there in half an hour.”
“I’m sorry Kate I gotta go that was work, I really wanted to take you to the airport.” Lucy said as she cupped Kate’s face.
Kate sighed and said “It’s alright, I get it, work comes first, right?”
“Yeah I guess it does, just glad it didn’t the past few days or I wouldn’t have got to spend time with a certain beautiful blond.”
“That would have been a real shame.”
“A shame indeed. Do you mind if I shower real quick?”
“No, go head.”
Lucy begrudgingly got out of the bed and made her way to the shower. Which left Kate with her thoughts once again, she looked on the bedside table and saw a pen and paper and had an idea. Taking the pen and paper she wrote a note.
Lucy,
Words cannot begin to describe the past three nights and two days. I’m not good with my words and did not want to ruin what we had and scare you off. But I’d really like to give this a shot, get to really know you. This didn’t feel just like a hookup if you feel the same call me.
-Kate <3
Kate heard the water shut off in the shower and quickly added her number to the note and got out of bed. She grabbed Lucy’s jacket and slipped the note in her pocket. She then started to gather up all of Lucy’s clothes and laid them out on the desk so she could change.

Later that day while on the chase for a suspect Lucy ended up taking a tumble down a hillside. Her jacket getting torn and covered in so much mud she just threw it out. Not bothering to check the pockets as she always keeps her items in her pants pockets due to muscle memory so she hopefully would not misplace her phone, badge or wallet as often. Along with the jacket is Kate’s note, never to be read by Lucy.

Present time
Lucy heard the clicking of heels again, watching Kate leave her boss’s office heading towards the elevator. Quickly looking around to make sure no one needed her, she stood up and made her way towards Kate.
“Hey what are you doing here?” Lucy asked curiously.
“My job.” Kate answered curtly.
“Well can we talk?”
“Oh so you want to talk now?”
Lucy looked around, grabbed Kate by the hand and led her to an empty room down the hall. “Whoa okay uhm what’s with the attitude? We have not seen eachother in six months, and I don’t know, I’m excited to see you. I have not been able to stop thinking about you.”
Kate crossed her arms over her chest and took a step back from Lucy. “I have not been able to stop thinking about you either.”
“Okay? So what’s with the attitude?”
“Oh I don’t know you never called or texted.”
“Wait. Hold on. I never had your number. In fact I have regretted not giving you mine. How was I supposed to call you? I don’t even know your last name?”
“Whistler. Kate Whistler.”
“Alright Kate Whistler, you still didn’t answer my other question, how was I supposed to have your number?”
“I gave it to you.” Kate couldn’t believe her and was ready to walk out the door.
“Whoa, I never had your number? Trust me, hell I was hardly on my phone that whole weekend.” Lucy was confused, she may be forgetful but she would have remembered having Kate’s number and wouldn’t have gone a day without talking to her.
“I left you a note.” Kate was beyond fed up at this point. She really wanted to feel Lucy’s lips on hers again, but needed to figure out what happened and why she never got a call if Lucy seems so interested in her.
“Kate I never got your note, where was it?”
“I put it in your jacket pocket.” Kate said shyly looking down at her feet. Wishing she’d of just talked to Lucy before she left.
Lucy unfolded Kate’s arms and took her hands. “Kate look at me.” Kate picked up her head and looked into the brown eyes that she’s missed so much. “Now that you know my job, that last day we had together I got called in on a case. Later that day I was chasing a suspect down and long story short, my jacked was ripped and covered in mud, I threw it out. I didn’t check the pockets because I never use them. If I allowed myself to use jacket pockets I would never find anything I tend to misplace everything I own and-“ Lucy’s ramble was cut off by Kate’s lips meeting hers in a soft kiss.
Kate pulled back before she let her self deepen the kiss which would have led them to doing things she does not deem suitable for the work place. “So you never got my note?”
“No Kate I didn’t, trust me if I did I wouldn’t have gone a day without talking to you.”
“So it was a misunderstanding?”
“Yes a misunderstanding.”
“Good because I really thought you just didn’t feel the same way as I did, but as soon as I got home I was offered the job and figured you wanted time to th-“ This time Lucy cut off Kate’s rambling off with her lips.
“How about you come to my place tonight around seven and we can talk about this.”
“Yeah I’d really like that. But I’ll need your address.”
Lucy looked around the room found a sticky note and pen, wrote her address down, walked back to Kate and placed the sticking note on her chest.
“Tara, Lucy Tara.” Lucy then turned around and left the room, knowing if she stayed any longer she’d have Kate naked and screaming her name, and she wanted to save that for her bed later tonight.
Kate picked the note off her chest and stared at the door Lucy just walked out of, a smile on her face, feeling like just maybe things were turning around for her.
