Friendly Gestures...?

She can't believe her eyes.

How dare she?

Not only that, but right in front of her as well?!

Nao was in the middle of planning an atrocious war crime as she continued to stare at her genmate, Kanemura Miku, acting bashful and flustered towards another girl.

Well, it's not like Nao and Miku were together, nor were they planning to hang out with each other today.

It just so happened that Nao wanted to go out today, randomly and coincidentally, she caught a glimpse of Miku turning a corner.

So, out of curiosity, she decided to follow her.

But to think that was the biggest mistake she's made. No, she counts not this as a mistake, rather she thinks herself fortunate.

She caught her Miku acting like some lovesick puppy towards another woman.

Nao would not stand for it.

Miku wouldn't survive this ordeal.

Nao finally had enough when the other girl boldly decided to wrap an arm around Miku’s waist and she DARED put a loose strand of hair behind Miku’s ear, Miku seemingly unaware of what was going on as she continued to talk about something with the girl.

She walked into the cafe, the ambiance calming with not a lot of people chatting. It was a nice place to have a cup of coffee with a friend or maybe have a little coffee date.

Nao walked towards them, neither of them unaware of the storm coming behind them.

She tapped the girl's shoulder.

The girl turned around and she could have sworn she saw the face of some demonic being for a split second. Out of shock, the girl recoiled her hand away from Miku.

“Excuse me, but who are you supposed to be?” It felt like a sharp arrow piercing the thick air around them along with a smile so menacingly sweet, it got her blood draining from her face.

Miku turned around to see who it was and her face instantly lit up.

“Nao! What are you doing here?” Her usual dog-like demeanor leaking out from her behavior.

“Oh, I was just passing by…I'm sorry but can you excuse us? I have to talk to her about work.” Her eyes offered a smile towards the girl but as soon as Nao opened it for just a tiny bit, she felt the intimidation her words held.

“Oh? But didn't you say you just got here as well?” Miku asked, who Nao assumed to be, her friend. The girl shook her head vigorously.

“N-no! I just remembered I had something to do at home. L-let’s talk again some other time, Miku. See you later!.” The girl quickly said her goodbyes and left the seat, leaving Nao occupying the same seat not a moment later.

“That was my friend back in highschool. She was from the same club and we just coincidentally met here today. I told her I study photography and she said she was also into photography so I showed her some pictures I had and taught her some things about my camera as well.” Miku innocently explained to Nao, who never asked for an explanation but was grateful for it anyway.

Nao hummed in response, fiddling with the rim of the cup of Miku in front of her. “A friend, you say…” She idly said.

Miku doesn't understand why but she felt like she was in trouble, although she was sure she hadn't done anything today to get herself in trouble.

“So as your friend,” Nao starts. “it’s okay for me to wrap my arm around your waist like this?” Nao mimicked what Miku’s friend did earlier.

“Or something like this?” This time, Nao brushed a strand of hair behind Miku’s ear.

“Is it also a friendly gesture to have your face so closely together to the point of almost touching as you talk?” Miku can feel the proximity of Nao’s face to hers without even looking, she can also feel the blood rushing towards her face.

“I-i mean...” Miku nervously stutters out. “We do it all the time?”

Nao looks at Miku with a deadpan face. “That’s because none of them were supposed to be friendly gestures.” Miku snaps her head towards her, forgetting that their faces are centimeters apart. She recoils her head back as her face flushes.

“W-what does that mean?”

Nao puffs out a breath and crosses her arms. “What do you think I mean, Miku?” She shoots the question back at her.

Miku struggles to answer, fearing one wrong word would cost her. “T-that they’re more than friendly?” Nao nods. “Okay and that means?”

Honestly, Nao would have just told her straight away what she meant by it. But she’s still pretty pissed at the scene of someone else trying to flirt with Miku so she’s making her suffer just a tiny bit.

Miku nervously chuckles. “Haha…well it can’t be because you like me…There’s just no way…”

An eye twitch.

Nao offered her a smile so sickeningly sweet, it gave Miku chills. “You’re right, Miku. There’s just no way it’s ‘like’.”

Miku froze when Nao reached out to her face again. “Because what I feel for you is more than ‘like’.” Nao squeezes Miku’s cheeks with one hand.

“This feeling is much more intense to the point that if I see you flirting with someone else like that again, I can’t guarantee their safety.” Nao says in a tone so serious, Miku thinks that asking if she was joking or not would be pointless.

With how Miku was still unresponsive, it left Nao no choice but to be straightforward. “God, Miku. If you still don’t get what I mean, it means I love you.”

“A-ah…ah…uh?” Nao pouts, she doesn’t understand how clearer she needs to be for this idiot to get it. Nao stands up from her seat. “Fine, if you want to keep avoiding answering my question, I’m leaving.” Nao heads to the door without giving Miku a chance to recover.

“W-wait! Nao!” Miku chases after her outside the cafe. She grabs Nao’s arm before she could take a step further.

Nao looks back at her, an obvious upset expression on her face that Miku shouldn’t find cute right now but it was pretty hard not to. “I-I’m sorry. I just…panicked. I didn’t expect you to feel the same way…so I was honestly shocked to hear you say that you l-love me.” Miku stuttered out her explanation.

“I didn’t mean to upset you and I also never intended to flirt with someone else! She really is just a friend, and the only one I like is you.” Nao just stares at Miku’s reddening face as she confesses to her in the middle of the streets. Not her ideal scenario but somehow, she finds it kind of romantic.

“After all that I’ve said and you only ‘like’ me? I’m hurt.” Nao teases Miku by pretending to look hurt and just to see what Miku would do in this situation.

Frantic, Miku struggles to find a way to reassure Nao. “I-i mean, I love you as well!” Miku says with such resolve, it surprised Nao a bit.

“I love you so much that being in the same room as you makes me nervous and whenever you initiate a conversation with me, it makes me very happy! Sometimes, when I’m able to hold your hand during performances, my pulse would suddenly quicken. There are times when I know you’re nearby from just your familiar scent. And also-” Nao covers Miku’s mouth before she says any more.

“Okay, Miku! I get it. I get it now so you can stop!” Nao says as she feels her face heating up as well.

When she was sure Miku had calmed down, she removed her hand.

“So…” Miku awkwardly starts.

“So…” Nao mimics her.

Both shuffle on their feet while they stand on the bustling street of Tokyo.

“Just to be sure…we're dating now, right?” Miku asks. Nao nods.

“So…do you…want to go on a date?” Miku suggested. Nao turns to her with a look of surprise.

“Huh? Like…now?”

“W-well, I mean if you want to??? I was supposed to hang out with my friend today but you kinda…” Miku lets the sentence drag on. Nao is, then, reminded of the events that took place in the cafe.

She narrows her eyes towards Miku. “Hmph, she should know now who not to flirt with.” Then Nao takes a step closer to Miku which Miku cowers against, shrinking at the intimidation Nao is emitting.

“But mark my words, Miku. If I see you flirt with her or anyone else but me for that matter…” Nao paused for a moment to admire the expression on Miku's face right now, she smirked. “They'll be facing my wrath.”

And with that Nao twirls around and walks away, Miku following along behind her trying to appease her jealous girlfriend.
