Chapter 3
Long meeting started and ended with Juliana trying to avoid the gaze of Kyu. She had been convincing herself that everything will end after the meeting and she shouldn’t dwell on anything that’s not important.
“Alright, so it’s settled! We’ll double time for us to finish early”
“Amara, you decide to pick your team members to handle the collaborations. Also monitor everything muna kase magiging busy ako next week. Daming meetings!”
Glasses couldn’t help but look up and saw the president talking to the vice president. When she saw Kyu looking in her direction. She swiftly continued fixing her things, trying to avoid the gaze. She put her notebook, laptop, and her notes inside her bag, one by one to properly organize it.
She calmed herself within the meeting, she thought that nothing is worth avoiding, she and that girl did nothing wrong , and are not even close! they aren’t friends at all to be so bothered.
Juliana composed herself, she stands and looked around the office and asked politely to the president and everyone around that she’s leaving. The president only nodded to her in response while still talking to the wavy haired girl.
When she asked permission to leave the room, her eyes met with Kyu, the girl was staring at her, like she had been waiting for the glasses to finally look in her direction. As to Juliana, she immediately hid her face with the folder she was holding and went out of the office.
“Teka, sandali. Sabay na ako sa’yo Rivera!” Ysabel said and asked for the other members to leave together with Juliana
Juliana wasn’t able to see it but Kyu excused herself with the president and asked to leave early. She jolted to her area and cleaned her desk, fixed herself to leave the room.
In the hallways of the school, while walking, Juliana was silent while Ysabela was yapping about anything that she couldn't comprehend.
“Hindi ka nakikinig ee”
“Ha?” back in her thoughts
“Ang sabi ko, nginitian ako ni VP…. tapos inaano nya yung-“
Juliana was lost in her world again. She couldn’t believe that she was the only one overreacting about that night while the other girl just acted fine. She finds herself petty for thinking too much, she ought to bury the memories just like how the VP does.
Her thoughts stopped when she saw the furrowed brows on Ysabel’s face.
“La kang kwenta kausap, e!”
“Hahaha, pasensya na marami lang talaga akong iniisip”
“Hmp. Gusto mo sumabay? Susunduin ako ng papa ko,”
“Thanks Ysa, but no thanks. Sa mall ako e, mag restock lang,”
The two slowly walk their way to the school’s waiting shed. Upon arriving, Juliana asked Ysabel’s permission to leaver and go to her car parked nearby. Ysabel still waiting for her father to arrive. When Juliana was about to leave she bumped onto someone.
Juliana immediately notice the familiar figure she had bumped, she has a thought but couldn’t process it
“Uy, hi VP”
“Sorry, my bad,” A soft voice was heard and Juliana widened her eyes when she heard the familiar voice. When she found the gaze of the girl, she was stunned.
“Hi Juliana” Kyu greeted her genuinely
“Hala magkakilaka pala kayo ni VP, Rivera!” pangit mo talaga kausap. She heard Ysa cursed under breath
Juliana only stared at her and proceeds to fix her glasses while looking down.
“Hi too, I assume ikaw si Ysabela”
Ysa nodded curtly, “Saan punta mo VP? Sabay ka nalang po sakin” Ysa offered the VP genuinely
“Just call me Mara. Wag na, I need to buy my supplies”
“Groceries po ba?”
“Oo”
“Sabay na lang po kayo ni Rivera! Punta rin sha roon. Hoy Rivera sabayan mo si VP”
Juliana looked at the girl in front of her and stared at Ysabela. Wishing she could punch the girl’s mouth for a second just to put her down.
“No, wag na ayoko maka aba-“
“Sumabay ka na sa’kin,”
Before Kyu finished her sentence Juliana butt in and insisted she could ride with her. She looked at the wavy haired girl with a smile. There’s nothing to worry about anymore. Walang masamang nangyari, it was nothing.
“Sige,”
The glasses asked permission for the two ladies to leave first because she will get her car parked at the parking lot of the school just across their area. Kyu insisted that she’d go with Juliana but Juliana refused and would just fetch her by the shed instead.
As she got in her car, she drove her way to where the two girls were standing and beeped, signaling she arrived. She let her window slide down and saw Kyu’s smile flashed before her face.
“Pasok ka na po, VP,”
“Parang tanga e” Kyu said as she entered the shotgun seat.
“Saan po si Ysa?”
“Kinuha na ng dad nya,”
Juliana nodded and kept on driving their way to the mall. The ride was silent. Juliana slowly and easily got comfortable with the other girl despite the awkward tension she felt the passing days. They arrived at the mall and Juliana found her way to the parking lot and parked her car. As they went out Juliana hurriedly opened the door for Kyu. It was a muscle memory that she always does when Serena’s on the front seat.
Hidden under Juliana’s gaze was Kyu trying to hide her reddened face, “Okay lang ako huy, di pa ako matanda” Kyu chuckled, not minding the rush she felt.
“Salamat sa pag hatid sakin, Yana. I gues this is where we part ways,”
“Yana?”
“Juliana’s too long,”
“Oh, okay…”
“See you around, Yana,” Kyu was ready to go when Juliana asked her a question.
“… Saan punta mo?”
“Grocery,”
“Doon rin punta ko,” Juliana shyly said and scratched her neck. Kyu smiled at the glasses when she slowly walked to hee and walked together towards the entrance of the mall.
“Akala ko talaga iniiwasan mo ako e” Kyu opened the topic when they arrived at the grocery store. Juliana was the one holding a cart. While both walked together for their list of food to buy.
Juliana felt the awkwardness in her system when she heard what the wavy girl said
“Hindi ah. I was shock as you are,”
“Talaga, was this your first SSC meeting with me?” Kyu asked innocently at the glasses.
Before Juliana could answer the question, the wavy haired girl found her cereal and went to it with joy, “Yes! Nakakuha pa nga. Last one na ‘to sa stock o,” Kyu, as she was excited to get the last Cereal of Koko Krunch, she was showing it to the girl with glasses with a smile plastered on their faces.
The two continued and finished the lists they prepared for themselves. When they finally have what they all need. They went straight to the cashier. Juliana was silent on the last 5 minutes same goes for Kyu.
As they were waiting in long line. Kyu was lined first, Juliana on the other hand was behind her.
As to Kyu being curious, “Yana, did you remember what happened that night? When you were at my condo,” She couldn’t help but ask.
Juliana was taken aback by her question but showed her relaxed and composed expression. She stayed silent for awhile, “Hindi e, everything went blurry that night. Ano ba ang nangyari?”
The girl with wavy hair nodded in response and look back in front, “Akala ko naalala mo na. Kase you were ignoring me days ago.” Juliana wasnt able to see the sadness and the huff Kyu released on her face.
“Why? Ano ba ang nangyari?”
“Wala. Nothing happened.”
The two continued to line and wait for their turn. When they finished shopping, Juliana offered Kyu a ride to her condo, but Kyu refused politely and said that her driver is on the way.
While driving, Juliana was sulking on the driver’s seat. She was sulking when Kyu left with her driver. She doesn’t know why she was feeling down.
Morning came and Juliana woke up with her alarm clock. She grab her phone and receive messages from The Council that there will be another meeting later
She then received another text that made her lips stretch into a smile
