The End?
Chapter 14:
The next day was Sunday and Harry was still healing in bed from his fight with Ron. He looked over to see Draco and noticed his bed was made and it looked like it was never used. So Draco must have slept back in the Slytherin dorms. This really brought Harry down. He was wondering if it was worth fighting anymore. First his so called family hates him, then his alpha, now his beta, he no longer has friends or anyone on his side, even Dumbledore seems to be indifferent to him. He wasn’t sure what he could do to change things to work out for him. He decided he’s going to try to change things a little at a time. Starting with speaking out more, like asking Snape for healing potions.
So he got ready for the day, noticed his nose was broken and he was still bruised everywhere; he was very used to the pain though. He got out of his room and looked around wondering where Snape would be.
“Finally got up Mr. Potter?”
Snape was sitting in the sitting room with a couple of potions in front of him. Harry looked over and nodded going towards him.
“Yes sir, I didn’t realize you were waiting for me, I’m sorry.”
“Yes, well, someone has to stay close to you. Now, drink these potions, they should finish healing your injuries from yesterday.”
Harry was very surprised he didn’t have to ask for the potions, he took them and thanked Snape for his help while he was finally healing.
“As for today; once Draco shows up I need to head out so he will need to stay with you, try not to annoy him too much. I don’t know how long I’ll be gone but it’s important so you both will just have to deal.”
Snape opened a book and started to read. He figured that since he was stuck until Draco arrived so he might as well get some reading done. Harry on the other hand wasn’t sure what to do, he was just standing there staring at Snape. After a few minutes of straight up staring at Snape, Snape finally had enough.
“Is there something you need or are you just here to annoy me?”
Harry shook his head trying to clear his mind but there was something that seemed to be calling him and it was connected to Snape.
“The bond seems to be connecting us further in some way, I’m not sure what it’s trying to tell me but it is pushing me towards you.”
Snape sighed, just what he needed, the bond to act out some more. He was still trying to get himself to open up the bond to feel his mates but he doesn’t like the disorganized feeling he’s currently getting from it. He knows eventually it’ll all make sense but at this time he has enough going on he doesn’t need to add the feelings of two teenage boys to it.
“Maybe it’s trying to tell you to leave me alone. I want to be left by myself before I have to leave for this meeting, it’s important and I don’t need teenagers to mess with my mind before it.”
Harry nodded and turned back towards his bedroom.
“Yes sir, sorry sir.”
Once Draco arrived, about an hour later, Snape left. Draco just decided to get his homework done and set himself up in the living room away from Harry. He didn’t even let Harry know he was there but Snape was very disappointed in him for leaving Harry behind the night before so he promised to stay in the rooms with Harry this time.
Snape on the other hand used the headmaster’s floo to head to his meeting. He was nervous and worried but he knew he had no choice but to go. Once he arrived he was brought to a room with a throne where Voldemort was sitting staring at him. Snape walked towards the throne and kneeled before Voldemort.
“My Lord I’m sorry for being late there were circumstances that couldn’t be avoided. I came as soon as I possibly could.”
Voldemort sneered and rolled his eyes but nodded.
“Yes, yes, get up Severus. I figured the boys are being trouble. Now tell me all you know about this bond you have with the boy-who-lived. I want to know if we can use it to bring the boy to our side of things.”
Snape stood up and looked surprised. This wasn’t the same Lord as the last time he was before him. He seemed… sane.
“My Lord, the boy is very much in the light’s bind. The Headmaster has a very tight hold on him unfortunately.”
“Yes, but with this bond he seems to be out of the Headmaster’s favor and his friends are obviously against him as well. If we can further this parting of ways from the light maybe we can show him our ways and get him to see things from our point of view.”
Snape did see what his Lord was speaking of. Harry did seem to have been excluded from the light since he was bonded to a couple of Slytherins. And with his Lord being sane again maybe this war will go back to being a war of wits instead of blood.
“The bond first showed up while we were in the hospital wing. The tests me and the mediwitch casted showed us the bond and who was in what position. Harry being the Omega was a shock to us all but it does mean I have more power over him. Once I was cured and the tests were all done I went back to work while Harry had to stay in the ward due to the burns covering his body. Draco stayed a while but once he was healed he left as well. This is where we realized that Harry needed one of his bondmates around or he feels extreme pain in his chest. We are hoping this effect will slowly go away the longer the bond is in effect. Due to this Harry and Draco have moved into my rooms and Harry has to take all his classes with Draco, including classes he wasn’t taking before.”
Voldemort nodded along but none of the information that Severus was giving him was unknown to him. The article seemed to have a lot of it correct.
“Severus, we need to get the Dark side out of the propaganda that the Light has deemed us to be. We have lost our way, and I know I am to blame for a lot of it but I am here to now to put things back in order. Try and get Mr. Potter to see things in our point of view, I doubt the so called light has given him all the details of the last war but only the details of the deaths found in the end. We need him on our side.”
Severus was very confused on how his lord has come to be sane and back to the man that he was when he first joined the dark. Well, he wasn’t one to not take advantage of situations, and seeing as how Potter is currently his Omega he might as well try to keep him alive.
“What about the prophecy, my lord?”
“Well, as you can most likely tell, the man called Voldemort is no more. I am Tom Riddle and Harry did have a part in getting rid of my alter ego which means that the prophecy is no more, we shall ignore it from now on. Dumbledore may still believe in it but we know it to be done.”
Voldemort, I mean Tom, nodded to Severus and sent him on his way. He figured that he understood his task and would hopefully not let him down.
Meanwhile
Draco was busy doing his homework, Harry was laying on his bed trying not to cry some more over his so called life. He figured he now had a friend in Luna but he wasn’t sure if that would be enough to keep him going. He decided he had enough self-pity and would do his homework instead so he grabbed all the books and papers he needed and headed to the living room. Once he arrived he noticed that Draco was there which meant that Snape must have left for his meeting.
“Oh, hi Draco. Wasn’t expecting you here yet. Mind if I join you to do homework?”
Harry was a little worried considering the actions of Draco the previous day. Being ignored is nothing new for him but he was hoping that the new friendship they had going was building up strongly, the last thing he expected was for Draco to randomly stop talking to him.
“Do what you want, I don’t care.”
Draco was annoyed. He knew he wanted to be friendly with Harry but his father was correct that The Dark Lord was their Lord and he couldn’t go against his wishes. So, ignoring Potter was the best thing for him and his family.
For a while they both worked on their homework silently, but Harry kept looking over at Draco trying to find a time to ask him something. Finally Draco was putting all his books and papers away and took out a novel to sit on the couch and read. Harry decided this was the best time to try and get answers.
“Draco, did I do something? Is there a reason why you’re ignoring me? Whatever I did, I’m sorry. I really really didn’t mean to hurt you in any way and I miss the friendship we started.”
“Potter, just drop it. I’m dark, you’re light. There is a reason we never got along and that reason hasn’t stopped just because you caused us to get bonded together. I was just adjusting to everything before but it meant nothing. You mean nothing to me, we’re just stuck together and that’s all. Now leave me alone.”
With that Draco sat on the couch and opened his book, he just hoped that Harry understood what he meant and that he didn’t hurt him too badly. Unfortunately Harry took this hard and ran to the bedroom and just lay on his bed crying.
‘He blames me as well. Everyone blames me for everything. Why can I never do anything right? Since the problem is always around me I must be the issue. First the Dursley’s, then the Gryffindors, now my bondmates… No one can ever love me. The Dursley’s were right in calling me a freak, that’s all I am, and all I’ll ever be it seems. Maybe this is the sign I’ve been waiting for.’
Harry always had the thought in the back of his mind during the summer back at the Dursley’s, he figured no one would miss him, and if they did they’d miss the boy-who-lived more than who he is as Harry. No one wants Harry, is what he thought. So he decided maybe this was it, it was the time to end things and just finally rest in peace.
Taking his wand he went to the bathroom and locked the door. Now it was just a matter of time. He jumped in the bathtub, not wanting to make too much of a mess on the floor, and took off his shirt. In a way he felt numb and yet in peace. He figured this was the end of the pain he was always stuck with. And a bonus would be that Draco and Snape would be able to get along better together without him in the picture. So, he blocked his feelings and aimed his wand to his wrist and was ready to go.
“Diffindo”
He said the spell twice using each arm; he didn’t want to make the wait too long. With that done he lay down in the tub and just took easy breaths. Maybe he’ll finally get to meet his parents, which would be nice.
Draco was feeling a little off but figured he was just feeling some of Harry’s feelings and to just ignore it. But the longer he ignored it the stronger the feeling became. It felt like something was leaving him, as if he was breathing out more than breathing in. Just as he was about to get up and see if Harry is feeling this the door slams open and Snape comes in.
“What have you two been doing? The bond is going crazy!”
Draco realized it was the bond that was making him feel weird.
“Nothing, I was just reading and Potter… Well last I saw him he ran to the bedroom for a good cry I think.”
Snape didn’t like the feeling he was getting with the bond, it seemed to be warning him of something big. He had run from Marlborrow Way as soon as his meeting with Tom was over. He ran to the bedroom and looked inside.
“He’s not here! Where is he?!”
Draco was surprised, he never heard him leave. He was worried about where he would be now. He decided to try the bathroom first. Knocking on the locked door he asked for Harry to respond.
“Harry! Are you in there? Do you need a potion or something?”
But there was no answer. He told Snape this and Snape decided to use his bond to find Harry. The bond sent him to the bathroom, so he knocked next.
“Potter! Open the damn door! This is enough fooling around we have no time for this silliness.”
Inside the bathroom Harry was staring at the door wondering if he should say anything but no longer having enough energy to say something. He decided that maybe if he stayed quiet the others would leave him to die alone.
That’s when the thought finally really hit him, he’s about to die. He lifted his arm towards the door in a show of needing help but his arm fell right back in the tub having no energy to stay up.
‘This is it. I’m dying. Well, everyone will be happy to see the end of my life I think…’
Outside the bathroom Draco and Snape both are feeling very much at a loss. It felt like something was leaving them and they really didn’t like the feeling. Having enough Snape decided to unlock the door.
“Alohamora!”
Unfortunately Harry somehow made it so that spells wouldn’t work. Accidental magic at his age is unheard of but Harry was a powerful wizard with extraordinary magic. Snape was now getting very angry at Potter.
“Open the damn door Potter! If I’m the one opening this door you are in so much trouble!”
With no sign of him opening the door Snape was done. He backed up and kicked the door open. Draco and Snape both looked on in shock at what they were seeing.
Harry was in the tub, which was red from blood, his scars from the potion looked even worse in this light and Harry looked so weak that they both couldn’t think of what was needed for a second. Then Snape snapped out of it.
“Damn it! Draco get some blood replenishing potions from the lab, a calming draught as well, actually bring three calming draughts, I have a feeling we’ll each need one. Harry you bloody menace! I can’t believe you would do this!”
Snape ran towards Harry while Draco stood still, still in shock.
“Draco, wake up! Get me the potions!”
Draco shook his head and turned running towards the lab to grab the potions that the potion master needed. He grabbed the calming draught for himself and drank it right away then brought the rest of the potions needed to Snape.
“Can’t believe you got me rescuing a Potter, this is just insane. Don’t move Potter! The things that these people get me to do…”
Snape was mumbling while he was saving Harry. Running spell after spell to stop the bleed and make sure he doesn’t go into shock. Once Draco showed up with the potions he made Harry drink them and finally started to relax when Harry took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. Draco cast a spell that gets rid of blood and cleaned up both Harry and Snape, and then Snape picked up Harry and brought him to his bed.
“I can’t believe this. I know you want attention but this is not the way to get it!”
Harry was just crying. He should have known life wouldn’t let him out so easily. Fate hated him, so he was sure Fate had lots in store for him that life wouldn’t let him go without going through. Harry knew his so called bondmates wouldn’t understand. He was stuck. He just gave up. He’ll live life like nothing bothers him any longer and just won’t care about anything.
“Now, sleep is needed to recharge your blood count. We shall discuss this event in the morning. Draco, come with me in the living room, we will discuss this now.”
Draco followed Snape into the living room while Harry was lying in bed all alone once more. Harry was tired and fell asleep pretty quickly, but he didn’t have good dreams.
Draco and Snape meanwhile, were both just staring at the floor while sitting on the couch. Unsure what to say, unsure what this will mean to their bond, unsure what this will mean to their future. Draco was worried that he was the cause of Harry trying it, Snape was wondering what he could do to stop Potter from looking for attention all the time.
“Sir, I might have been the cause. I told him some things beforehand and I knew he wouldn’t take them well, but I didn’t expect this…”
“It’s not your fault. I told you before he looks for attention. This was just another call to be noticed.”
“I doubt he’d go this far sir. If you didn’t break the door down he’d be gone by now. Plus he didn’t tell anyone where he was going or what he was doing which I would expect if it’s all about getting attention.”
“Draco. I’m sure he had a plan if we weren’t at the door at that time.”
“Feel his feelings! Open the bond! Do you honestly think he’s faking all this pain and depression he’s feeling?”
With that Draco went back to the guest room and went to sit with Harry. Unfortunately for Harry, being so out of energy and magic due to his attempt, his glamour that covered his scars on his back from the Dursleys’ were free for all to see.
“What is that?! Severus, get over here!”
“What? Why are you yelling on my bed?”
“What’s with the yelling Draco?”
Draco just made Harry turn his back towards Snape. The potions master was shocked.
“Where did you get those scars?”
Harry, with big eyes, just looked over his shoulder at both his bondmates and cringed.
“Nothing…. They’re nothing, can I sleep now?”
Both Snape and Draco were having none of that. The scars spelled Freak on his back and he had what looked like whip marks all over.
