The room was warm, the comforting smell of apple pie hung in the air.
Kanade had always been a bit different. To her, colors were just...colors. Red, blue, green, purple - they all looked the same to her.
Until this faithful conversation emerged.
"Hm ... I'd like to guess." Honami smiled. "What about... Powder blue!"
Kanade stopped to think about it.
She'd never had a favorite colour.
But seeing Honami look at her with such fondness, as if the colour reminded the other girl of her. She had never considered colors as things of joy before, preferring the quiet comfort of muted tones. Still, Honami's unadulterated passion for it was… intriguing
"Mhm. You got it right."
Honami smiled again.
Her dam(n) smile. The smile that Kanade loved so much. The smile she saw when she woke up after fainting. When Honami saved her.
The sight of her smiling made Kanade break out into a soft smile of her own.
Over the following days, it was as if a switch had flipped. Suddenly, powder blue was everywhere Kanade looked. The light blue of a cloudless sky, the soft blush of a rose petal, the pale sheen of a butterfly's wing - each time her eyes fell upon the color, her heart fluttered. She'd never realized how often she would spot it, scattered throughout her daily life, until now.
