It is now the day I leave, the day I may make my dreams come true. I did sign up to that contest as a dare but I always wanted to be an actress so this was a great opportunity.
I woke up to my alarm and walked out of my room to the kitchen area seeing Grace already eating breakfast.
โWhere are you going?โ
She asks taking a bite of her toste.
โWhat do you mean?โ
I ask, rubbing my eyes since it was the weekend and I normally sleep in.
โFirst off, you never wake up at 6am on a Saturday. Secondly, I saw you had packed luggage in your room. Mind telling me about your little vacation?โ
She says chuckling a bit as she looks at me and I realize I should get ready and give her a quick answer before running to the bathroom.
โIโm going to LAโ
I say casually before getting ready for the airport in the bathroom. As Iโm washing my face I hear Graceโs shocked scream.
โWHAT?!โ
I start laughing a bit and get out of the bathroom fully dressed and ready. The plain left at 10:30 so I still had loads of time, I just wanted to make sure I didnโt oversleep.
โOh rightโ
I chuckle a bit, holding up the envelope I got in the mail two days ago.
โI won that radio contest you dared me to do!โ
She still had her mouth wide open in complete shock and I just kept laughing as I see her expression.
โWHAT?!โ
She repeats, seeming like this is the only thing she could say.
I slid the letter over to her and she started reading.
โDamn..this really is crazy! A five star hotel, business class seats and an acting gig all at once! You do realize what this means Luna, right?โ
I look at her a bit confused.
โYeah, I get a free vacation..?โ
She shakes her head at my obliviousness.
โWell yes, but this also means we probably wonโt be roommates anymoreโ
She turned a bit sad but her sentence just confused me.
โWhat?! Of course not! This is just a quick vacation. I donโt know what youโre talking aboutโ
She points to the very last sentences of the letter which I didnโt read yet since I was too excited for my trip.
She reads the last sentences to me: โThis trip will last for about a year because of filming, everything is paid for and the hotel room will be your residenceโ
As she reads that, my eyes widen and start to water. I couldnโt leave her here all alone for a whole year or more!
โYouโre kiddingโ
Is all is say before breaking out in tears and hugging her.
โYouโll finally live your dream! Lighten up! And you wonโt forget about me once youโre famous right?โ
โOf course not!โ
I hug her tight and we stay like that for a while. I Look at my watch and see itโs already 7:00, still early but I wanted to get to the airport early, since it was quite far away from our apartment.
โWell..I have to go nowโ
I say letting go of the hug as Grace does the same.
โIโll text you!โ
As we finish our goodbyes, I go grab my things and head out the door, having a taxi drive me to the airport. I didnโt have to add more clothes to my luggage since I already brought all of my clothes. Now, this was it, my seemingly impossible dreams coming true.
