Genesis

‘Why don't i just stay here for the time being’

Those were the words that had gotten him into this mess, sitting in the lobby of his daughter's hotel for redemption. Lucifer sat with one leg resting over the other, in a surprising comfy chair, surrounded by the rest of the hotel's residents. All of the sinners had sat down in the living area part of the lobby and were taking turns saying..something. Lucifer had a hard time saying no to his daughter, so naturally when she had asked him to participate in some uh..’bonding exercises’ the only option was to join this little sharing circle.

Normally, he would have used some excuse about having to retreat back to his palace, but now he lives in the hotel. Not to mention the impending and overwhelming guilt he felt for abandoning his daughter for so many years. That was definitely not a great move. Also-

“Dad!”

Quickly snapping back to reality, he turned his head to meet his daughter's eyes. The look on her face was a mix between hope and disappointment . He must have been out of it again, stuck in his own brain.

“Dad, it's your turn” Charlie gave him a gentle look while gesturing for him to participate. He now had the attention of all the residents, which was not uncomfortable at all. Lucifer was a king for god's sake, he could handle this.

“Right uh,” Lucifer paused, he realized he had not been paying attention to Charlie's instructions nor the other participants. “What..what am I supposed to do again?”

Lucifer could tell by the look on his daughter's face that she was trying really hard not to physically facepalm. He really needed to work on paying attention. After so many years in complete isolation, he wasn't exactly used to giving others his undivided attention, especially for such a consistent amount of time. It didn't help that the goal of all these activities was to be redeemed. Not only was Lucifer sure it was impossible for him, but he was pretty sure it was the same for the other residents. They seemed to know it too, he really hadn't seen any of them take these activities seriously. He really wanted to believe in his daughter and support her no matter what, he really did, but redemption for sinners is the kind of dream that got him kicked out of heaven. Bringing his attention back to his daughter, she was starting to speak when a filtered voice came from behind him.

“Oh, sire, don't tell me you weren't paying attention”

Lucifer turned to see a tall, lengthy prick who he swore was not there before, leaning into his hand that was propped up on the top of Lucifer's chair, paired with the biggest shit eating grin.

Out of all the people in the hotel, there was only one he actually hated: Alastor

This guy always knew how to get on Lucifer's nerves and for some reason Charlie had a strong connection with him. Insisting ‘he's got a big heart, I can just tell’. Bless her heart cause this guy was just a dick.

It absolutely killed him that this guy was trying to steal his role as a father figure. What made him more upset is that for so many years, anyone had the chance, the spot was empty. One thing Lucifer was sure of is that Alastors intentions were not in the right place. He had lied when they first met, stating he hadn’t heard of the radio demon. But he had, and the things he heard were nothing but trouble. Normally such a weak little sinner wouldn't have anything on him, but alastor seemed to find the one thing he's got a fair fight against Lucifer: Charlie. This radio fucker was using Charlie to get on the kings nerves.

The worst part, he was always up to something but there was never anything Lucifer could do about it. It was so obvious that he was scheming some evil plan, but unless Charlie was convinced, it was brushed off as a ‘kooky’ personality. He turned his head back around to slump into his chair, arms crossed.

“Alastor, bud, i'm really not in the moo-”

“If you must be reminded, we were saying a few remorseful words for the dearly departed,” Alastor stated, completely cutting Lucifer off.

“Such a shame you cant even show a little respect, someone should really teach you your manners.” He concluded, polishing his claws with his thumb.

Even though Lucifer now had his back to the demon, he could feel those piercing red eyes all over him. He could always tell when someone was watching, and it felt like this guy was literally always watching. Like always.

“Someone should really teach you to shut the fuck up.” the angel spat with a mocking tone and he rolled his eyes as hard as he literally could. Before he could continue, the second fallen angel in the room spoke up.

“Can you guys not do this right now.” Vaggie took turns giving each of them some serious glares. “We're trying to do something sentimental so both of you taking this seriously would be really delightful.” She was obviously being sarcastic but Lucifer felt proud that Charlie had someone as head strong as Vaggie to stand up to her, even if it was to her own father. Though, he wasn't sure why he was receiving a glare. Alastor had started this.

Lucifer glanced to the right of Vaggie, where Charlie sat in the corner of a long couch placed completely parallel to himself. Her head was resting on both of her knees staring mournfully at the ground.

That would not do.

“So.. lord tencious” no that wasn't right

“Sorry” he coughed “Sir Pensious, I only met him once but he was very..charming! Yeah, he was quite the fella.” Lucifer tried his best to sound confident, but he really didn't remember who this guy was.

The way that Charlie looked at him with so much defeated hope as she listened to her father spew what they both knew was nonsense broke him. He really wanted to do well for her. So he stood up and took a deep breath in,

“Look, i'll be honest, i don't really remember who this sinner was, and i'm not going to bullshit a speech for a guy that is clearly worth something more to you.” He continued, pacing, “All that I know is that he sacrificed his life for this hotel, which is more than enough for me. Maybe his death was the first big step in redeeming sinners. Not just anyone down here that would do that” he paused suddenly realizing he had an audience and was not just talking to Charlie.

“Wow, bravo” Lucifer whipped around to see the red headed demon in his chair, one leg squared over the other. “Quite the impromptu speech, consider me impressed.” The sinner slowly clapped his hands.

Alright i’ve had enough of this bitch

Despite the little voice in his head telling him fighting alastor would not be worth the unavoidable talk with Charlie after, Lucifer lunged towards alastor, grabbing onto the lapels of his jacket and yanking him closer. This seemed to catch Alastor by surprise, which was always a win.

“Who the hell do you think you are? '' Lucifer yell-wispered into Alastors face as he felt his own eyes start to turn red. Someone needed to show this guy just who he was messing with.

For a moment alastor just looked at him, smiling, as if pondering the question.

“Alastor, if I recall correctly” the sinner chucked, looking as smug as ever.

WAM

Loud static filled the air for a split second. Alastor's head went swinging to the left on impact. Lucifer bitch slapped alastor, literally as hard as he could. The hasty action alerted the residents, some standing up and ready to spring into action if necessary.

“OK THATS ENOUGH” Vaggie yelled as she stepped between the two “go take some alone time and cool down, this clearly isn't working.” She nodded her head back towards the stair, motioning for him to make his departure.

With a big huff he started to walk towards the stairs when he remembered his opponent. Alastor now stood from the chair, insisting to Charlie that he was alright. He had her wrapped around his finger, which only enraged Lucifer more. If he hadn't been there he’d have guessed Alastor hadn't just had his ass beat. The demon looked completely put together, the only thing to notice was the large tufts of hair on his head that seemed to be standing up straighter than before. That was odd, maybe his hair had a mind of its own, Lucifer laughed to himself at the idea.

The next time he had any social interactions was a few hours later. Lucifer had been cooped up in his room doing god knows what. Hell, he didn't even really know what he was doing. One thing he did know is that his room now had at least 15 more ducks than before. While finishing up the 16th, he jumped at the sudden knock on his door.

After adjusting his vest, shirt, and hair accordingly, he made his way to the entrance of his room. Opening the door fully expecting to see Charlie, but instead was met with his daughter's girlfriend, Vaggie.

“Oh- hey Vaggie! What uh, whats up?” The king inquired, attempting to lean on the door frame but missing.

“Charlie just finished with dinner, she wanted me to come let you know,” she paused with a hesitant look on her face. “I also just wanted to apologize for being a bit demanding early today, I've just been so worked up lately, I mean I think we all have after the extermination.”

Lucifer took a second to try and recall what the girl spoke of. She must have been talking about the quierl with Alastor this morning. “Oh my gosh, don't even worry. I'm actually glad you stand up for Charlie like that, it makes me feel really great to know she has you.” Just after finishing his sentence Lucifer realized she had said it was time for dinner.

“Wait dinner- i thought-” Lucifer glanced out towards the large window in his room behind him. He must have been so caught up in his crafting, he didn't notice how later it had gotten.

Vaggie gave a reassuring smile, “yeah, normally not everyone comes down to eat at the same time, but Charlie thought i was important to get everyone together every now and then.”

“Sounds good, what's for dinner?” Lucifer inquired, stepping out of his door and starting to walk to the elevator. When he turned to hear a response from Vaggie, she was heading the opposite direction.

“Some beef bourguignon i think, ill be right down i just gotta let Alastor know” Vaggie explained.

Lucifer shrugged as he hopped onto the elevator. Why would she go out of her way to invite him. He knew the answer obviously, but it was still annoying.

With a ding he arrived on the bottom floor and started his journey to the dining room. Upon arriving a very pleasant smell filled the air, Charlie had outdone herself. In the center of the room lay a huge rectangular dining table. In the far left, sat the long spider guy. Lucifer was pretty sure his name was angel, it was kinda hard for him to forget such a name. Next to him, the moody bartender pulled up a chair and sat down. Both seemed equally captivated by their conversation. Directly across from them sat the weird bug girl, who was giggling to herself alarmingly. There was an empty seat to the right of her, but the king would rather not sit next to her, especially after watching the bug kill Adam brutally. Luckily for Lucifer, one more seat down to the right was also empty.

Lucifer took his time getting to the seat after preparing himself a plate. Once he sat down the seat to the left of him (not the one next to nifty, thank god) sat his beloved daughter. She had just begun placing a prepared plate on the seat next to her, most likely for Vaggie, when she saw her dad in the seat next to her.

“Oh, hi dad! Are you feeling better? I know it was stressful this morning.” Charlie chirped, taking her seat. Lucifer was almost certain his daughter was going to be more upset with him for slapping her bellhop, but she spoke with gentle and reassuring words.

“Yeah Charlie i am thanks kiddo,” he paused,” sorry for uh, slapping Alastor. I'm working on the temper issue.” he confessed.

“It’s okay, trust me, I know Alastor can be..,” she paused to look for the word “-alot, but I really think you two would be good friends eventually.” Charlie attested. Lucifer tried really hard to not laugh out loud at the thought of being friends with alastor.

A squeak from a chair attracted both Charlie and Lucifer's attention. Vaggie had returned to take her seat. Before the king got to greet her, Charlie took a quick look around the room.

“Wait, where’s Alastor?” The girl faltered. A puzzled expression on her face as she continued to search the room, landing back on her girlfriend. “No idea,” Vaggie stated, mouth already full of food. “He didn't answer when I knocked, probably doing his own thing somewhere else.” Charlie's face screamed disappointment. She took a breath before speaking,“What if he's in trouble or something, im worried”

“I feel like we would know if something was wrong with him, honey, you worry too much.” Lucifer took another bite of food, he really couldn't care less.

“I dunno know dad,” she hesitated “there was that whole thing with Adam and-”

Lucifer's head spun to face Charlie “What thing with Adam?”

As far as Lucifer knew, Alastor had nothing to do with that whole fight. Which, he really should have helped. For talking so much shit about being an all powerful overlord, he literally just dipped the second there was an actual fight, only to return once it was over. Maybe Sir Pensious would have survived had he been there to fight with his daughter. Some guy he was.

“Before you came, he took care of Adam.”

Oh

“ I don't know what happened up there but before we knew it Adam had his attention on us, and- and Alastor was nowhere in sight.” Charlie recalled, worry poured into her voice.

Ohhhh.

So this piece of shit must have lost his battle with Adam, which was the outcome he would've figured considering Alastor creepy voodoo powers where no match for the first man.

No- he must have fled before he could get hurt. This fucker was left unscathed and was now making Charlie worry about him.

“Charlie, I'm sure he's fine.” he assured her, “ Trust me, if he was hurt or something he’d already be dead by now.”Charlie still looked distraught, not having touched her food yet. Lucifer put a hand on her arm trying to comfort her.

“How about I go check on him after dinner for you.”

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alastor was not usually one to be picky about the situations he found himself in, but he was pretty fucking miserable right now.

After his battle with Adam, Alastor realized he did not know how to treat an angelic wound. He was always quick to dodge any usual exorcists during his past exterminations, Alastor had assumed Adam couldn't be much different. He could not have been more wrong. All of that power towered over him and he was hungry to tear down from the base up. The demon was infuriated by the fact that not only had he been beaten, but he had no chance of going back and tearing Adam limb from limb. Alastor was better then this, stronger then Adam, and with a second chance he would have won.

Alastor wanted to watch the light fade out of his eyes, organs slowly sliding out of his chest as if they were crawling out of him. He wanted to make Adam beg for death, beg for the pain to stop. That was always Alastor's favorite part of killing people on earth. Listening to them plead for a second chance at life, a second chance at the simple happiness that came from simply being human they had oh so tactlessly overlooked. Only realizing how beautiful life was until they were about to lose it, so much regret. He enjoyed watching people truly face the fear of death, the victims begging for their mother's soft touch. One could say it almost gave him butterflies.

But now he stood in his new room, with a large slash right through him, inches away from his second death. The wound had stung so hard it felt cold, the edges of skin rugged and red. Alastor slumped slowly into a large chair that sat just in front of the fireplace. The green glow of the fire reflected onto the fresh drops of blood that fell from his chest. Reaching over to the side table, trying hard not to twist his body too much, grabbed onto the bottle of whiskey and took a big swig. This was not going to be fun.

After unbuttoning his shirt and removing his jacket, Alastor carefully held a long sewing needle in his left hand, a piece of gauze in the right. The sinner had done this so many times, during life and death, he could practically do it with his eyes closed. Of course that didn't make it hurt any less, especially with this certain wound. Feeling the cold metal of the needle dig its way through his flesh made Alastor hiss. There would be no procrastinating, he just had to get this over with.

After finishing off stitching the wound, the demon just took a deep breath, as deep as he could considering the hole in his chest, and allowed himself to rest. He swore he’d almost drifted off to sleep, which Alastor didn't do often, when a loud knock came from his door. Whoever was there would soon realize no one was home, or so he hoped.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Hey dipshit!” Lucifer's voice echoed throughout the hall as he continued to bang on the door.“I know you’re in there open up” The angel was anything but looking forward to this, he had no idea why he even offered, but here he was. He really needed to learn to think before speaking. One thing Lucifer was sure of is that he wasn't leaving until this asshole went to go see Charlie. He was a man on a mission.

The blonde stopped knocking, bending down to look under the door. All he could see was a radiating light, supposedly coming from a fireplace or something. He huffed and picked himself up.

“Alastor I'm not going anywhere until you answer the door, and I have no plans for the rest of the night.” Lucifer's remark was greeted by silence, to which he responded by rapidly knocking on the door at a very annoying pace. Just as the angel opened his mouth and spit out another sassy remark, the door swung open.

“What could you possibly want so badly, your highness.” There stood alastor looking a little different than usual.”Come to slap me again are we?” The demon was without his jacket, and his hair was not as neat as it usually was. Maybe something was wrong with this guy. Alastor had one elbow propped up at the same height as his chin, arm loosely hanging behind his head. The other hand was still touching the door handle. If it weren't for the smile on Alastors face, this guy would look absolutely pissed. But, now he just had his eyebrows slightly furrowed and his eyelids heavy, looking more tired than usual.

Lucifer could admit, it was not a bad look for him.

He had been lost in thought while scanning the radio demon up and down when he realized the guy had been waiting for an explanation.

“It upset Charlie that you didn't come to dinner, she wanted me to check on you.”

“Well I'm doing just peachy, are we done now?” Alastor spat almost immediately after.

“Wha- no- that's not how this works-,” the radio demon tilted his head to the right, raising one eyebrow.

“You need to go tell her that you’re fine.” Lucifer paused

“And show up to her dinners when she asks its not that fucking hard.” He commanded, placing one hand on his hip and shifting his weight to the other foot.

“As, yes, of course, it's not as if I plan on abandoning her for years without warning. You would certainly know the requirements of being a good father.” Alastor snarked as he looked up to right, looking as sincere as possible. If he wants to play that game, then Lucifer will play along.

“Yeah, I would, especially since I didn't leave her during the middle of a war cause I was too pussy to take a real hit.”

Alastors eyes furrowed and snarl grew, “I think we're done here,” Alastor growled, voice filled with static.

And just like that alastor closed the door. He closed the door on the king of hell.

Unbelievable.

Overwhelmed with anger, Lucifer raised his leg to kick alastor door.

“Little bitch.”

he muttered to himself before stomping back to his own quarters.

After replaying the interaction in his head a few times, he wonder what he should tell Charlie

‘Hey, your piece of shit hotel bestie just slammed the door in my face like i was some girl scout trying to sell fucking cookies’

After searching his room, his eyes landed on his bed. It looked mighty comfy.

He could tell Charlie about it after a short nap. Maybe his mind will be clearer after a good rest.

Or, that was the plan

Until Lucifer woke up to complete darkness. He had slept through the evening and it was now 1am. Whoops. Lucifer started to feel a little guilty for his inability to do things for his daughter. She really hadn't asked for much. In fact, she didn't ask at all, Lucifer had offered. He went to bed instead of telling his very concerned daughter about the state of her friend.

Ugh….friend

Hopping out of bed, Lucifer found himself at the large glass dome attached to his bedroom that was shaped like an apple. Looking out to his city, he could've sworn hell almost looked peaceful. He couldn't see many sinners out. He actually couldn't see much at all. The only light supling Lucifer view was a red glow that came from the opposite side of the hotel.

Huh.

Why would the radio demon still be awake at this hour? Lucifer would’ve thought he just left the lights on if it weren't for the silhouette of a man sitting at his desk. The angel studied how it moved, only turning every once and while to grab something from the other side of the desk. It was hard to makeout what he was doing from such a distance, it looked almost as though he was wrapping himself in something. Whatever he was doing, he was doing it slowly and almost gentle. Lucifer thought that was absolutely wild. The radio demon? gentle l? No way.

But,

It looked quiet, almost peaceful.
