Twice as Lucky

“I can’t remember the last time we both had a day off together,” Carol begins sorting through hangers in the closet to find one particular outfit she’d wear.

“We have the whole day,” Therese lays up in her navy pajama set.
“Any ideas?”

“There must be something playing at the theater house. Or we could always go for a country drive?”

“Spending just a second with you is enough for me,” Therese smiles. She makes Carol laugh softly in front of her.

A drive is what they decided on.
They packed a basket of apricot flavored turnovers and fresh coffee in a thermos to bring along for the ride.

“Weatherman says it’s going to be very cold today,” Carol announces once they drive out of their street. “That should give us little to no traffic.”

“All for the better.”

Therese cranks the heat before pulling the thermos of coffee out of the basket wedged between her feet. She unscrews the cap to take a sip. She looks out the window at the empty sidewalks in town and find a few business stores opening for the upcoming hours.
