Chapter 1 – The moment you smiled at me

“Tsu-kun, you’ll always have a choice. I promise you that.” Takeshi stated one time they’re having lunch alone in the classroom in Namimori Elementary. Tsuna stared at him as he finished chewing and he stared back gently but sincerely. He watched as the blue in Tsuna’s eyes flash briefly and inwardly sighed that as much as he wants Tsuna to live a peaceful life away from the mafia he knows his Rain won’t be going anywhere without him.

“I know, and you know I’ll choose you again and again since we’re best friends.” Tsuna smiled conspiratorially which made him giggle. Thankfully, with his influence and Tsuna not getting sealed, he didn’t grow up as Dame-Tsuna. He even took to admiring Hibari and finishing the bullies, either verbally or physically which comes as a surprise to Aldrin. This Tsuna has a sense of justice, and Takeshi will support him through it. He’s still a little shy, but Takeshi helps him with it.

They always study together either at the Sawada’s or at the Yamamoto’s residence, but when they turned 8 and some bullies tried to pick on Tsuna because he’s too kind and Takeshi got hurt defending him so Tsuna asked Tsuyoshi to teach him kendo along with Takeshi it changes things. Takeshi’s happy that his dad got another disciple and another child and thankful Tsuna can defend himself but he doesn’t want Tsuna starting on flames, so him and his dad do train flames in secret.

“Maa, not even as family?” He teased back, pinching Tsuna’s cheek which is pink when the boy mumbled something.

“Hm? What was that Tsu-kun?” He asked, not catching what the other boy said.

“I said I don’t see you as a brother but I’m not opposed to be your family. We could make one.” Tsuna grumbled, poking Takeshi’s ribs to make the other giggle again which he did.

“Then I want a furbaby. We could be its parents, I don’t mind if it’s a dog or a cat.” He giggled.

“But I thought being parents are only between a man and a woman?” Tsuna questioned genuinely.

“Mostly, but that doesn’t mean two men and two women can’t be parents. Even single parents are still parents, or in found family you can have multiple parents even if they’re not your blood but of heart, Tsu-kun.” He reasoned, nodding to himself.

“Just like in video games! That’s right Tak-kun. But I don’t see myself as the mom though.” Tsuna lamented as Takeshi giggled.

“It’s okay, I can be the mom, you can be the dad. You gotta protect me and our baby okay?” Takeshi slipped, but he didn’t mind it at all. “I think you’d be a good dad someday Tsu-kun.”

“I just hope I don’t turn out like my deadbeat dad. And you too, Tak-kun.” Tsuna replied in which Takeshi poked his side and earned a sharp ‘HIIIEEE’ to which he laughed at.

“Silly Tsu-kun, you’re not like your dad at all. After all, you’re already with me everyday right?” He smiled at the other in reassurance, and Tsuna’s brilliant smile answers it all.

“Hurry here Tak-kun!” Tsuna excitedly yap as he pulled Takeshi upstairs after their graduation on Namimori Elementary. Soon, they’ll be in Namimori Middle School with Ryohei and Kyoya.

“Maa, slow down a bit Tsu-kun. I’m getting a bit light-headed.” Takeshi panted a bit, when he’s feeling extreme emotions, his heart palpitates and makes his chest constrict. According to the cardiologists they’ve gone through, his heart healed fine despite the trauma and is on the average person’s scale of strength but he shouldn’t be stressed for prolonged periods or his heart could weaken again. He’s lucky he doesn’t have a maintenance yet.

“Oh, sorry! We can sit here on the stairs for now, here and breathe with me.” Tsuna said as they stopped to sit on top of the stairs, immediately breathing in with Takeshi to slow down his heart rate.

“I’m okay, I’m just so happy.” Takeshi said after a few breaths, heart already calmed down. They’ve had an eventful morning, he only ate toast with cheese and milk and needed to march down in the ceremony and there’s lots of pictures going around before they’re whisked to the Sawada residence. His dad went back to Take-Sushi to bring the sushi boat for celebration and while they wait for Nana to finish cooking, Tsuna wanted to lead him to his room for a graduation gift.

“I know, I’m happy too. You good now? Can we go to my room now?” Tsuna perked up excitedly.

“Yes, we can.” Takeshi laughed, excited for the gift. He made his own gift for Tsuna, he’ll gift it to him soon.

They got in Tsuna’s room and there’s a box in there that has holes, Takeshi squealed as he opened it to find a kitten with the most orange fur and big blue eyes. He carefully petted the kitten which rubbed its head on his hand delicately.

“We’re parents now, Tsu-kun.” He giggled at Tsuna, cradling the kitten in his arms. Tsuna blushed but chuckled with him.

“You remember it from 2 years ago?” Tsuna questioned, ruffling the kitten’s head affectionately.

“I didn’t forget it. Also, you got to name our child.” Takeshi replied, a blush forming on his cheeks.

“Her name is Tsuki. Like the moon.” Tsuna’s blush intensified and Takeshi cooed.

“I love that, I love you Tsuki-chan, I love you Tsu-kun.” Takeshi stated as he kissed Tsuki’s forehead and Tsuna’s cheek. Tsuki purred in contentment and the attention from both parents, Tsuna is having a contest with the reddest tomato.

Takeshi’s just happy to have his family.

“Takeshi.” Tsuyoshi started on their dinner before being bashful suddenly.

“Yes, tou-san?” Takeshi replied after drinking his miso soup.

“Boys are wolves, Takeshi.” Tsuyoshi grumbled as Takeshi blinked at him in surprise.

“Is it because I kissed Tsuna’s cheek or is my crush on him that obvious?” Takeshi tilted his head in confusion, not really getting why Tsuna would be a wolf.

“Don’t date until you’re 30. They don’t deserve you.” Tsuyoshi grimaced especially when Takeshi giggled.

“Maa, maa, tou-san. I’m not your daughter, isn’t fathers supposed to feel that towards their daughters?” He teased his dad, biting on his tempura.

“I know but you’re my son. They have to earn your approval and heart, show it through actions consistently. Blah blah blah.” Tsuyoshi ranted as Takeshi put on some rice on his father’s plate.

“Tou-san, I appreciate the sentiment but that’s not realistic at all. Besides, I’m just 13 along with Tsuna, nothing’s happening.” He smiled but he’s pleased at the care and concern his dad is giving off in waves.

“Nothing happening but you have a child with him! I have a granddaughter already!” Tsuyoshi bemoaned as Takeshi laughed loudly. He’s happy his dad took him seriously that Tsuki is his first child.

“I labored for Tsuki in 12 hours and get her out at natural birth. Of course she’s your granddaughter.” He teased some more but hold on to Tsuyoshi’s hand. “Besides, you’re close with Tsuna too. He looks up to you as a father, you can shape him more into a decent man even though I already know he is decent just without proper guidance.”

“You’re right.” Tsuyoshi sighed as he squeezed his son’s hand back. “Also, on Hibari.”

“Kyoya-senpai and I just spar tou-san. I think he’s just happy to have a playmate who’s hardier than the others.” Takeshi smiled, it’s exhilarating to spar with his Cloud but he can't deny the admiration he feels for his Cloud.

“That one’s definitely a predator. Be careful. Remember, not until you’re 30.” Tsuyoshi stated in finality.

“Tou-san!”

Yamamoto turned around abruptly, sensing a presence behind him. He doesn’t know if it’s instinct or Hyper Intuition but his gut had him tensing in face of danger and he called forth his flames hoping Ryohei, Tsuna and Kyoya won’t see the flames shielding them instinctively as he gripped his bat tightly. Tsuna stopped and Hibari sensed his shift in attitude they turned back to him. Before he can think, his pencil is flying to the front near Ryohei’s feet at 300 mph. However, it is caught by a toddler.

“Reborn.” He let out in surprise.

Oh.
