Chapter 4

A few months later, Adam and Lute had completely redeveloped the castle. There had been a lot of changes. Adam had set up a room specifically to display his collection of electric guitars, in place of a small living room. Next to this same room, separated by simple large red spectacle curtains, there was an exhibition of sabers and portraits of Lute.

Lute was still sewing her new dress, she had been working on it for months. She didn't want to have a completely royal style. She wanted to pay tribute to her years spent in the army of exorcists, as a Lieutenant. So she opted for something more knightly, while still keeping a royalty theme. As for Adam...well...he was still creating the laws in his dictatorship that he would reveal after his coronation. He already had tons of ideas to protect his people and make sinners pay for what they committed.

In the evening, Lute entered the room, already exhausted. Adam turned to look at her, sitting on the couch, a notebook and pencil in his hands. he gave Lute an angry and worried look. “I told you to go rest, Lute, why don’t you fucking listen to me!?” Adam growled, angry. He was very worried about Lute since she was getting tired while she is in full pregnancy.

Lute growled. She's been a lot more nervous and irritable lately. "Don't you ever take care of your own ass? Holy shit, Adam, did you mistake me for Lilith or Eve? I've survived a thousand times worse!" she screamed, her back arched. her belly had swelled a lot since then.

Adam had noticed that she was a lot less easy lately. he had experienced more than 10 pregnancies with Eve, yet she remained gentle, although she spoke less. Lute was always in a very bad mood, she was like bloodthirsty. he wasn't sure if it was because of the lack of exterminations or just because she was pregnant.

Adam pinched the bridge of his nose. on the one hand, she wasn't wrong. She was very far from being like Lilith and Eve. Unlike them, she did not want to show her weakness and rejected Adam's pity. She was strong and held her own, although her behavior could be unpleasant and cold. "well... I guess since I'm no longer your commander, you're free to do whatever you want. But that doesn't change the fact that I want you to rest. You are in your sixth month of pregnancy and soon you will be too tired to make the efforts you are making these days..." Adam sighed, desperate by Lute's behavior and how she rebelled so easily now. Lute walked towards the dressing room without saying anything, while Adam looked at her desperately. before she left, Adam called out to her. "you know I'm not doing this because I think you're weak, I'm doing it because I worry" he explained getting up from the couch.

Lute froze, her back to him, before turning around, still furious. "I don't need it, Adam, I need to be left alone" she replied dryly before leaving for the dressing room.

Adam growled in frustration. “dirty bitch” he muttered to himself.

---

Lilith was in the living room, sitting on an armchair, near the fireplace, a pipe in her hand. on the other, she kept a diary. a smile formed on his lips as he read that Adam and Lute were going to become the rulers of Paradise and were expecting a child. She already had plans in mind just to make Adam miserable.

As she was reading, a figure formed in the dark hallway. “Mom” the voice called.

Lilith turned her head to see her daughter at the entrance to the living room. She was dressed in a red nightgown with a pastel pink heart on her chest. She had long blonde hair, like Lilith, with a lighter streak, like Lucifer. Her pupils were red like her father's and she had a pure, but naive smile. She didn't know about her parents' crimes, she saw them as heroes.

"Charlie, what are you doing here? You should be in bed this late" Lilith asked, her smile disappearing.

Charlie approached her mother. “I had a nightmare…” she replied in a trembling voice. “The angels were attacking the castle, I was alone and you were gone…” she added as tears ran down her cheeks.

Lilith put down her pipe before carrying Charlie and placing her on her lap, covering her with a wool blanket. "oh, Charlie, you know that dad and I will not abandon you... and the angels will never be able to attack us" she reassured her.

Charlie continued to cry. “but it seemed so real!” she waved her arms.

Lilith whispered as she hugged her daughter. "Nightmares are never real, darling..."

Charlie's sobs faded as she fell asleep in her mother's arms, while Lilith sang a lullaby to her daughter.

The next morning, Lute was sleeping soundly in the bed. Adam woke up slowly, first seeing the sight of Lute sleeping. He remembered their argument from the day before, arguments were becoming more and more common these days. They could argue about anything and neither would admit they were wrong.

Adam sighed. he understood that Lute was so grumpy and angry, but he didn't want it to go any further. Lute was the woman he supported the most between her, Lilith and Eve since she was not a complainer and quite the contrary. he almost never saw him cry or throw a tantrum. And then, at least he chose her. She is not a woman who was created for him by divinities.

Adam was obviously afraid of losing her, but he wasn't able to fix things between them. Adam is too narcissistic to think he is the problem, even though they are both the problems. So the only solution he had was just to avoid escalating the arguments if Lute got angry.

He stretched before placing a kiss on Lute's cheek and getting out of bed. Today he had a lot of work to do. He dressed in this robe that he wore every day as a commander. Unlike Lute, he hadn't had the idea of changing it or just modifying it to make it more royal.

After changing, he left the castle to observe the preparations for his coronation ball. As soon as he arrived, there were already things he didn't like. The white and gold colors were far from being to his taste. “what the fuck!?” he growled.

An exorcist approached. “well, you told us we could do whatever we wanted and that you didn’t care?” she explained, slightly frightened.

Adam looked at him with wide eyes. "damn it, and you couldn't remember that your commander only likes black, purple and gold?" he asked arrogantly.

The exorcist began to stutter. "well... we're going to change that, sir...!" she declared, gesturing with her hands.

Adam frowned. "sir? SIR? you still call me SIR when I'm the future king!?" he yelled.

The exorcist became very frightened. "oh shit, uh... majesty?" she tried to calm him down.

Adam nodded in agreement. “now to work, bitch” he replied firmly.

The exorcist took flight. Meanwhile, Adam approached a large table which will be the buffet to read a list. that was the menu. He exploded in anger when he saw that something was missing. “where are the fucking beef ribs!?” he yelled, attracting the attention of all the exorcists.
