The Masked Ball (Part 2)
Since the group of students arrived at the streamers, there had been no slow music during the evening. Chloe was having a great time naturally, since she was at a ball, and Red was her date. But deep down, she felt a slight frustration. She would have liked to share a waltz or a slow dance with Red, a tender and romantic moment, just the two of them. Every time she heard a new rhythmic song, she felt this frustration grow.
Red felt that Chloe was hiding something from her. She put a hand on Chloe's and asked her softly: " What's wrong, Chloe ? You seem frustrated. "
Chloe blushed slightly, lowering her eyes. " It's just that... I would have liked to dance a waltz or a slow dance with you tonight. The evening is probably going to end soon, and we haven't had that dance yet. »
Red smiled as she heard how much her princess wanted to share this dance with her. She was even very moved by it. " Oh, Chloe... " she whispered, feeling her heart warm. She leaned towards her, kissed her tenderly, and then whispered in her ear, " Wait for me here, okay ? "
Chloe obeyed, thinking at first that Red was going to do like that cliché in the movies and ask the DJ to change the music. But one song came on, then two, three... and Red still hadn't come back. Chloe began to worry, looking for her angel in the crowd, but she couldn't find her anywhere.
With each passing minute, Chloe grew more and more anxious. She finally found Bridget and Ella, and went to ask them if they had seen Red.
"Red?" Bridget exclaimed, surprised. " We thought she was with you. "
Ella shook her head. “ No, we didn’t see her. Are you sure she didn’t tell you where she was going ? ”
Chloe felt her worry intensify. “ No, she just told me to wait here. But now I’m really starting to worry. ”
Bridget put a comforting hand on Chloe’s shoulder. “ Don’t worry, Chloe. I’m sure she’s fine. ”
Chloe nodded, trying to convince herself, but her heart was beating faster and faster. Where was Red ?
Suddenly, two arms wrapped around her from behind, and she sighed in relief as she recognized Red's embrace and scent before she heard him whisper in her ear. " Don't worry, I'll never leave you, especially not so suddenly. "
Chloe smiled and turned to face Red. " Where have you been ? " she asked, her voice trembling with relief.
Red smiled mysteriously. " It's a surprise. Come with me. " She took Chloe's hand and led her out of the ballroom.
Chloe was surprised, but she didn't say anything and trusted Red. She followed her through several hallways of the school, her heels softly clicking on the floor. They finally stopped in front of the chemistry room. Chloe frowned, confused.
" Close your eyes, " Red whispered.
Chloe obeyed without question. Red then opened the door and led her into the room. A pleasant smell reached Chloe's nostrils, but it wasn't normal given where she was.
" Red... what are we doing here? What's that smell ? "
" Open your eyes, and you'll know, " Red said softly.
Chloe opened her eyes and was shocked. The chemistry room had completely changed. The tables were against the walls and everywhere, there were different chemical experiments with various effects: a light scented smoke floated in the air, colored bubbles burst into bursts of light, luminescent crystals slowly formed, and liquids changed color in a hypnotic spectacle. The atmosphere in the room was absolutely magical.
Tears welled up in Chloe's eyes as she realized that Red had prepared all this just for her. Her angel stood near a small speaker, smiling tenderly.
When Chloe finally turned to her, Red put on some soft music, before approaching her, curtsying, and inviting her to dance. " Would you grant me this dance, my princess ? "
Chloe, overcome with emotion, nodded. " With pleasure, my angel. "
They began to waltz, letting themselves be carried away by the soft music and the magical atmosphere of the room. Chloe complimented Red on her dress and on everything she had done for her. "You look amazing, Red. Thank you for everything. This is the best surprise I've ever had."
Red smiled, her eyes shining with tenderness. " I wanted this evening to be special for you, Chloe. You deserve all the happiness in the world. "
During the waltz, Red spun Chloe under his arm, then brought her back against her, Chloe's back against his chest. She lovingly wrapped her arms around her, continuing to swing their hips in time with the music. Chloe let herself rest her head back against Red's shoulder, savoring every moment of this dance.
" I love you, Red, " Chloe whispered, unable to hold back her feelings.
She knew Red wouldn't tell her. But that didn't matter. Once again, her actions spoke louder than her words. And everything she had done tonight proved that...
" I love you too, princess, " Red's warm voice whispered in her ear.
And those words melted Chloe completely. She felt her heart swell with love, letting herself be carried away by the emotion of this moment. A tear, just one, rolled down her cheek, and Red gently caught it. She turned her around, and gave her a tender kiss. The evening was already perfect... and it had just become unforgettable.
