The Sixth Sense Enhanced
Ever since Red had discovered and accepted his feelings for Chloe, it was as if her sixth sense had developed even more. She was now able to sense not only negative emotions, but also positive ones from Chloe, even from an impressive distance.
Once during a math class. Red was concentrating on her homework when she suddenly felt a wave of intense joy. She looked up and saw Chloe sitting at the other end of the class, receiving a compliment from the teacher.
"Excellent work, Chloe," the teacher said. "Your efforts are starting to pay off."
Chloe smiled, beaming with pride. Red couldn't help but smile as well, feeling the same joy as Chloe. It was a strange but comforting feeling, as if their emotions were in sync.
Another day, during Chloe's fencing practice. Red was sitting in the stands, watching intently. At one point, Chloe pulled off a particularly difficult move, and a wave of pride and satisfaction washed over her.
Red felt this wave of emotion as if it were her own. She spontaneously stood up and clapped, catching Chloe's attention. Chloe turned her head and flashed her a bright smile, visibly touched by Red's support.
Later that day, while Red was studying alone in the library. She suddenly felt a surge of excitement and happiness. Intrigued, she stood up and followed her instincts to their room, where she found Chloe chatting with their friends.
"Chloe, why are you so happy?" Red asked, curious.
Chloe, surprised but delighted to see Red, replied enthusiastically. "I got a letter from my brother. He's coming to visit me next month!"
Red smiled, sincerely sharing Chloe's joy. "That's great, Chloe. I'm really happy for you." That night, when they were alone in their room, Chloe couldn't help but ask the question that had been nagging at her for a while. "Red, how do you always know how I feel? It's like you can read my mind."
Red, still discovering her feelings and her sixth sense, avoided her gaze, slightly embarrassed. "I don't know, Chloe. It's like an intuition. I just feel what you feel."
Chloe insisted, trying to understand. "But it's more than that, Red. It's like you're always there at the right time, like you know exactly what I need. How do you do that?"
Red, confused and uncertain, looked down. "I... I don't know how to explain it. It's new to me too."
Chloe placed a comforting hand on Red's shoulder. "It doesn't matter how you do it, Red. I'm just happy to have you by my side."
Red felt a wave of warmth flood her heart at those words. She smiled shyly, grateful for Chloe's understanding. "Thank you, Chloe." »
However, a part of Chloe was frustrated at not getting a clear answer. This frustration followed her into her sleep, making it difficult for her to find rest. She hated not knowing the answers. In the middle of the night, Red was awakened by Chloe's insomnia that she felt was her own. She silently got up and slipped into her friend's bed, holding her close to relax her.
Chloe, surprised at first, calmed down when she heard Red's soft voice in her ear. "Chloe, everything's fine. I'm here."
Chloe settled more comfortably against Red, but as she rested her head against his chest, she heard a strange noise that made her sit up suddenly. "Red, why is your chest ticking?"
Red smiled, a little amused. "It's a peculiarity of Wonderland. Instead of a heartbeat, I have a ticking."
Chloe, worried and tired, misunderstood. "Do you have a clock instead of a heart? That's not reassuring, Red!"
Red reassured her, still amused. "No, I have a perfectly normal heart, don't worry. Only the noise changes. Now come to sleep." »
Reassured, Chloe snuggled back into Red, who kissed her forehead tenderly. “Sleep well, Chloe. I’m here.”
