berryfunny fluff because uhmmm yeah

Freshly out of a run, a team of 8 exhausted toons stumbled out of the elevator, Sprout and Looey conversing among them. Both were littered with bandaids (Sprout more than Looey, obviously) and discussing their plans for the rest of the day.

Looey glances at the digital clock placed high up in the lobby. “It’s only 10am. The rest of the day still needs to happen.”

”Are you busy?” Sprout queries, as their steps lead them down the hall and past Dandy’s shop. Dandy eyes them for a moment, before looking back down at the tapes in his grasp.

”Only as busy as you can make me!” Looey chortles, nudging Sprout with his shoulder.

Sprout glances at the clock again. “Huh. 2 hours till lunch.” He thinks for a moment, before turning to looey. “Meet me in an hour, I’ve got an idea.”

Looey’s eyes widen in curiosity, trailing behind Sprout for a moment longer. “Hm?”

”Let me surprise you for once,” Sprout shrugs, continuing towards the kitchen. His footsteps stop, and Sprout’s face shows that he’s realizing something. “If you can make it, of course.”

Looey thinks for a moment, catching up to Sprout. “…Yeah, I don’t have anything!” Sprout’s face lights up, a grin opening on his face. He presses a kiss onto Looey’s cheek, who can swear his rubber just got a darker shade, and pats Looey’s back. Looey’s tail sways from side to side.

“Great!” Sprout cheers. “1 hour, my room. Got it?” Looey gives a thumbs up, too internally flustered to give a verbal response.

Sprout crams his shit into a basket, laying a red-checkered blanket over it. He looks around his room, from the shelves to the tidied up bed, courtesy of Tisha, until he’s sure that he’s remembered to pack everything. He turns around in a flash when he hears a knock at the door, his mouth spinning into a grin again.

Sprout pulls the door open to the sight of Looey, who’s expression remains curious yet excited. Sprout wraps his arm around the handle of the basket, his other hand grabbing Looey’s as he quickly drags Looey towards the elevator.

Looey glances at the basket. “A picnic?”

Sprout grins. “Yeah. An early lunch for just us.”

The hills floor, an area Toons could replicate a breath of fresh air, was still and silent besides chatter between Looey and Sprout the rustling of grass beneath their feet.

Looey turns to Sprout, grinning. “Hey, you’re fast, right?”

Sprout shrugs. “Fairly so.”

Looey’s expression turns cheeky. “Race you to the top of that hill?” He points forward, his purple arm directing Sprout’s eyes to the planned picnic spot for the two. Sprout glances to the side, before nodding. He was assured that Looey had fully treated himself since they hopped out of the elevator, right?

Looey counts down. “Three, two, one…go!” The two burst into a sprint, racing towards the top like their lives depended on it.

Looey’s wagging tail is noticeable when he reaches the top before Sprout, it’s quick dashes from left to right conveying his pride.

”You didn’t heal that whole hour!?” Sprout pants, reaching the top soon after.

Looey shrugs. “I did!…Mostly.” Sprout shakes his head, taking the blanket off of the basket’s top and laying it down. Inside was an array of typical picnicking food, though it all looked so appetizing that Looey could’ve bet it was from something more Michelin star-like.

Looey and Sprout grab things out of the basket and lay them on the cloth beneath them, the sound of rustling grass beneath the blanket overpowered by their chatter.

The two sit down next to each other, Sprout chuckling at Looey’s insane tail-wagging pace. Looey digs in at a much quicker pace than Sprout ever could, too occupied being in a state of admiration for the bright-colored balloon. “It’s like you have five minutes before Pebble comes and takes the stuff we don’t eat.” Sprout chuckles.

Looey swallows. “I’m BERRY hungry.” He laughs at his own joke, and earns a huffed chuckle from Sprout.

Most of the food is emptied, remnants of a good lunch showing themselves in crumbs on paper plates. The blue sky illuminated the two’s happy expressions.

”Hey, Sprout.” Looey’s knees grow closer to his chest, his elbow resting on one knee. Sprout turns to him, humming a questioning noise. “Let’s do this more often.”

Sprout smiles, placing a hand on Looey’s face. Sprout leans closer, and Looey doesn’t deny or pull away when the two kiss. Looey’s tail is going haywire, spinning in quick circles and thumping against the checkered cloth beneath them.

The sounds of distant barking can be heard, the two pulling away in an instant.

Pebble dashes up to the hill the two are sitting on, panting and growling at Sprout.

“Oh, shoot!” Sprout checks the watch around his wrist, reading 11:40. 20 minutes to prepare something for everyone else.

Sprout frets, his mind racing on what to do, before Looey grabs his hand. “Hey. I’m not flammable, am I?” Sprout shakes his head no, confused at the question. “Then it wouldn’t suck if I helped you, would it?”

Sprout grins. “T-Thanks, Looey.” He turns to Pebble, waving him off. “Shoo buddy, you’ll get your food on time.”

Pebble grunts and runs off, while Sprout and Looey stand up and shove their stuff back into the basket.

Looey takes his turn to carry the basket as the two walk slowly towards the elevator, hand in hand.
