We can be reborn, Freely Tomorrow!
Summary
Vocaloids, not quite human, not quite machine. Beings with shining personalities that don't really need to sleep, and can run on electricity or food. The perfect humanoids designed to be singers and faces of the most well-known vocal synthesizing software.Though the software is still sold, these physical bodies are seen at concerts, in music videos, games, etc.Hatsune Miku, their most well-known, and most stubborn mascot, has made an unexpected, connection that will change every vocal synth’s existence(I didn’t really know what to title this el em ay oh this is also my first time writing a fic don’t kill me)
Note
All the vocaloids live together, in the towering Crypton Future Media building, structured somewhat like an apartment complex (yes like the talkloid videos from 2017) with their own soundproofed rooms, a recording studio, instruments and plenty more. It's all a vocal synthesizer could ever ask for. Or whatever I wrote at 11 pm on a school nightMy back hurtsI love my wifePeace out ( ̄∇ ̄)

Glowing in Cherry Red

Hatsune Miku barely woke up on time to her blaring alarm, she groaned and stretched tiredly before snatching her phone from where it was left to charge, annoyedly turning it off.

She relaxed, laying back down for a moment before rolling over and double checking her schedule, one that was updated daily by her manager. A music video shooting, nothing new since yesterday.

“not bad…”

She mumbled, rubbing sleep out of her eyes and crawling out of bed.

Dressing herself in her usual over-the-top outfit which she at this point considered casual, She tied her Lux Hair Care™️ (does anybody even remember that commercial cause I thought it was iconic) silky hair into her iconic twintails.

Miku hummed as she strode down the hallway, she stepped into the elevator, about to head downstairs when a low, feminine voice cried out,

"…please wait!"

Miku’s brows furrowed, she heard footsteps race to the door and slammed her fist into the door close button in a way that seemed almost automatic upon hearing that voice,

"You killed me in Scissorsloid."

She opened the door at the last second, glaring at a sweating and panting Megurine Luka, allowing the taller woman to enter the elevator. Luka punched in a button and the two stood in stiff awkward silence as Luka caught her breath. Luka’s blank expression cracked into a tiny smile and Miku began giggling under her breath before they both burst into uncontrollable laughter.

Luka got off wherever she needed to be, and Miku stepped out on the ground floor, scanning the living room area. (V NOT CI)Flower and Kaai Yuki were playing some Roblox game while sitting on the couch while Rin and Len aggressively competed in Just Dance. Miku smiled, a silent thank you for everyone she cherishes.

She cringed at herself, hoping no one in the room could read minds, and made her way to the studio. Upon arrival, she was given a simple description of what to do.

“Lip sync to the song, can you do that?”

“Of course!”

She smiled at the director before she began to skim over the lyrics, realizing this song consisted of two singers. She whispered the other name, feeling that it rolled off the tongue nicely.

“Teto…

Have I heard that before?"

Her thinking was swiftly interrupted when she was called over for makeup, she rushed over, greeting the makeup artist before sitting down, her hands resting on her knees as the artist got to work.

“Oh hi Teto! have a seat! I’ll get to you the moment I’m finished with Miku.”

(Genuinely the worst dialogue I’ve ever wrote shoot me through the head)

Midway through having mascara applied, Miku heard a firm voice reply,

“Thank you…”

She opened one eye, sttempting attempted to unveil the faceless voice, only seeing a kaleidoscope of red and navy blue as she squinted.

When the makeup artist was finished, she eyed herself in the led-outlined mirror, thanking her and complimenting her work, before curiously turning to see who exactly this “Teto” is

A girl with cherry red hair tied into two thick coils on either side of her head was sat across from her. She seemed completely zoned out, staring at something in the distance. Teto noticed Miku staring and her deep red eyes flicked over to meet hers.

Miku was caught off guard, this girl was a pleasant sight, she adored the way the studio lighting hit her hair, making it almost glow. She couldn’t be human, She had those shining eyes (PROJECT DIVA.), dead giveaway. but if not a Vocaloid, what is she?

Miku smiled politely, extending a hand,

"Nice to meet you, you must be Teto?”

Teto extended her own nervously shaking hand and shook Miku’s, silently cringing at herself.

“That’s right, and you are?”

‘Huh.’

Miku uttered to herself, her eyes widened,

‘How could she possibly not know who I am..?’

Her expression was slightly piqued, before she reset to her usual charming smile.

“…I’m Miku. Hatsune Miku. CV-01.”

Teto nodded, her lips curling into a just barely noticeable smirk as she swiftly crossed her legs,

“Nice to meet you as well, Miku.”

She smiled, tilting her head ever so slightly and looking Miku in the eye, as if inspecting her

“Kasane Teto, 0401”

Miku gave a nod and continued, her curiosity getting the best of her as she recognized Teto having no CV in front of her number

“So, you’re not a Vocaloid, right? What e-“

Mikus question was answered posthaste when she heard an displeased exclamation jump from the low conversation that was transpiring to her left,

"Nobody told us we would be working with an Utau! This obviously isnt allowed!”

Her managers footsteps trotted to Miku’s side, snatching her hand from where it rested on her lap

“Let’s go, Miku.”

She took his hand and stood, her greenish-blue eyes never tearing from Teto's

“Well, it was lovely meeting you Teto.”

He glared at Miku and tightened his grip, moving from her hand to squeeze her wrist. Miku lowered her gaze,

”I hope we can meet again sometime!”

She was guided out of the studio, disappointed she couldn’t properly get to know that cherry-red haired girl.
