The Starting Point
Chapter 1: The Starting Point
How did this all happen?
Let's just say that a Primordial had an issue with how Lady *cough* Bitch *cough* Fate was handling the timelines of the Universe while a "certain Overseerer was away" and she had decided enough was enough. This Primordial was Aeternitas/Tempora (if you call her vague message as help) and had enlisted some of her fellow Primordials to help her set matters in proper order.
These Primordials were Death, Chaos, Trivia, Justice, and an entity known only as Veritus. They had received a dreamscape communication from Tempora, the Primordial of Time; whom was being unnaturally vague, told them that her sister, Fate, was tampering with the timelines of the Universe because she was displeased with the Primordial Selection. And let's call Aeternitas - Tempora, for simplicity sake, had mentioned that she was put in a deep sleep by Fate and couldn't awake without the Overseer's authority.
Why she needs the authority of the Overseer to wake up when Fate was the one to put her to sleep? I do not know. Why did she have to relay all of this information a such a vague way? For fear she might get caught by Fate. Why is the Overseer away? I do not know. Why did Fate place her sister in a coma instead of just killing her? Because Fate isn't of right echelon of power to do so and even if Fate was a Primordial, there's a rule in place that Primordials cannot kill other Primordials. What is the Primordial Selection? Again, I don't know.
But what I do understand is that Tempora had identified for them the needed lynchpins that enable or guide the timelines to the correct conclusion. These essential lynchpins were Green Arrow (the one trapped on an island for 5 years and later erased himself for Prime Earth and alter Earths after the Anti-Monitor thing), Professor Stein, Laurel Lance, Captain Cold, Helena Bertinelli, Aquagirl, and Nate Heywood.
She did add in a reset to the timeline for Prime Earth at the same time that she'd contacted her fellow Primordials which is likely why her message via dreamscape was so damn vague. It wasn't until Trivia had used a bit of her power on the memory of the dreamscape belonging to Death, that they all got the intended message and, by a vague message, I mean like: a snippet of a door slowly closing to a room with Tempora lying on a raised platform seemly peaceful as if relaxed and Fate proudly walking away with a malicious smile on her face. Imagine someone sending you an odd video with no context and no verbal or written explanation as to wtf it is. Death is female but has taken on a male form to fuck with people, Trivia is female, Chaos is thought to be female but also has taken on a male form to fuck with everyone, Justice is female, and Veritus is female. The other Primordials aren't really the sort that anyone could just randomly ask a favor from or of. They kind of are the type that do what they want when they want and tend to be very tricky ie not reliable. Luck/Fortuna isn't as bad as the rest of the aft-forementioned other Primordials but she can be a bit surly at times and a bit uncaring when it comes to handling the "finer details"; she's more of a blunt instrument for more simple things. That's why she got involved with the Superfam without any repercussions because that's the type of a thing that she is known for doing. Now while her initial motivations would've been something whimsical given her nature, however, she does have a sense of morals - right or wrong but unlike that of humans. She saved Match and Conner from certain death because she viewed their situation as wrong. She is also a direct antithesis to Fate because they naturally clash because of what they represent in essence and hence, Fortuna is completely down for wrecking Fate's plans/shit. She also isn't one to use a Champion for "meddling in mortal matters" which is not to say in any sort of way that she lacks the right of having a Champion but if she intends for something to be done, she'll just do it herself.
Champions. What is the purpose of Champions? From my past research in preparation for my thesis, Champions are persons carefully selected by entities, deities, and Primordials to either accomplish a specific task or for a lifelong journey by which these higher beings can affect the Universe and worlds as a whole without breaking the Cosmic Rule. Fortuna refers to this as "meddling in mortal matters" which it is basically but it's much more than just meddling- it's imbuing the Champion with a small portion of Primordial power and heightening inherent characteristics that naturally align with the Primordial's very nature. Many of the Primordials, deities, and entities have had many Champions throughout human history: a prime examples are Hercules, Odysseus, and Marco Polo. Champions had to stop being used for a bit of time in history because the last ones used was Hitler, Winston Churchill, Eisenhower, and Stalin by Nyx, Chaos, Ananke, and Boreas. So WWI and WWII was a violent kerfuffle mainly between Nyx, Ananke, and Boreas over something and Chaos was attempting to mitigate the damage. So Boreas' Champion was Stalin/Lenin, don't ask me why Lenin is included - I don't know, Hitler belonged to Ananke, and Winston Churchill belonged to Nyx. No one will tell me what the specific issue was that caused such mass destruction and high death tolls but I do know that Death personally ripped into the "three idiots" for the unnecessary amount of extra work that they'd created for her. But apparently, the scathing blast was so legendary that someone wrote it down and gave it to some order of monks in Asia somewhere. Yeah, Death was pissed for a while after that and contrary to all of the cults worshipping her, she doesn't want a loss of Life because it makes more unnecessary work for her.
Nyx is Chaos' sibling and I'm even unsure how exactly to address um, "her" because Nyx technically doesn't have a gender and when I asked for proper prounons, here's what I told, "Nyx is Nyx and nothing more or less" which I'm sure you can probably tell - isn't any type of answer to what I asked. But never mind mortal me that cannot properly understand the depth of the Cosmos, anyway, Nyx will usually follow along whatever Chaos tells "her" about unless someone pisses Nyx off then all bets are off. Nyx also doesn’t like Fate and has on many occasions, said as much to Fate's face during the Primordial Selection and before the Overseer "went away". Nyx is like that one girl on the playground that walks right up to the bully and clocks him/her in the face and proceeds to provide a very one-sided beatdown until an adult yanks the girl off of the previous bully - now victim. Nyx takes shit from absolutely no one but even Nyx recoiled in shame during the verbal blast from Death.
Ananke, ugh. Nevermind. Not that Ananke isn't an important Primordial - she is important but I failed to understand the term that Chaos used in her description of Ananke. All Chaos said was, "ταραχοποιός". I know that this means troublemaker in Greek but I don't understand the why behind the word.
Boreas is strictly male - there are some severe consequences in place when anyone has ever tried to refer to him as a female. He's like a guy that thinks he's all that and every hole between the legs needs to be dicked down or pumped full, male or female, doesn't matter to him. His morals are very "loose" in that - mixing business with pleasure is a common thing with him. He also the type to save you so he can fuck you repeatedly...literally and no one is spared - not even his Champions. Ugh, I think I now know the why behind the Stalin/Lenin as a Champion thing, yuck. Boreas is actually quite easy to find in the mortal realm - in a sexual orgy in a male brothel, usually with five at a time and with the ability to impregnate left and right regardless of gender. He doesn't do SAs or rape. Rather, he prefers to convince people and get their consent so he's an honest scumbag, I guess? I feel like need bleach for my mind after writing that But I was told not to trust him under any circumstance because he's apathetic as a whole? Clearly, he has burned too many bridges among his fellow Primordials for his past/current behavior.
Is there a such thing a dual Champion? Yes and it's only occurred once in human history for a brave soul with the surname of Kane; he was both the Champion of Death and Justice. Now it's rather unclear as to what exactly he did for Death and Justice but the reward was a permanent ban from dying from Death and from Justice, two rewards were guaranteed to a qualifying member of the bloodline. The only one left of the bloodline to qualify is Bruce Wayne.
