You don’t need to save me, but would you run away with me?
Summary
In the alternate universe, where Glinda gets on the broom and leaves with Elphaba.

“Come with me.”

Glinda stands across from Elphaba, her heart torn between the life she’s always known and the woman she loves, the woman who’s always been different. The choice, like the storm swirling outside, is fierce and unpredictable.

She steps forward, her gaze steady and filled with an unwavering conviction. “Elphie, I-“ She feels the old pull- the pull of perfection, of being the good one, the one who has always played by the rules.

But here, standing before Elphaba, that word rings hollow.

Elphaba, for all her flaws, for all the pain she’s caused herself, has always been real. She has always been unapologetically herself.

For a long moment, the air between them is heavy, filled with all the things Glinda has never allowed herself to feel before. She’s always been “good”- the one who followed the rules, who played it safe. But now, standing before Elphaba, all of that seems like a lie she can’t live with anymore.

Glinda’s breath catches, the realization settling deep within her. The world she’s known- Oz, her friends, her title, her status. All of it has been a cage. And Elphaba, the one person who has never fit into any mold, is the only one who has ever made her feel free.

Glinda looks at the broom lying beside Elphaba. She steps toward the it, her fingers brushing against the worn wood. “I can’t stay here. Not without you. I can’t pretend to be the perfect Glinda. She doesn’t even feel like me anymore.”

Elphaba’s face softens, and in that moment, everything shifts between them. The world outside, the people’s opinions, the expectations- they all fade. The only thing that matters now is the space between their hearts.

“So, you’ll come with me?”

Glinda looks down, torn between the life she’s always known and the life she could have with Elphaba. A life where she would no longer be bound by the constraints of perfection, but could be true to herself, flaws and all.

For a long moment, Glinda does not answer. Her heart races, the weight of her decision pressing on her chest. Finally, she exhales, as if releasing a breath she didn’t know she’d been holding for years.

“I may not have your powers, but I know this — the world doesn’t get to decide who is good or bad. We do.”

A long silence passes. The storm outside rages, but inside, the air is still. The light in Glinda’s eyes is unshakable, a promise. Elphaba stares at her, lost in the enormity of the decision in front of them both.

With that, she climbs onto the broom beside Elphaba, her body trembling slightly, not with fear, but with the rawness of the choice she has made.

The journey ahead will be hard. But for the first time in her life, she knows she is exactly where she’s supposed to be.
