Chapter Four
Morning soon came, and it became apparent to Klaus soon that Dave had stayed in Klaus’ bed. It made him jump at first, but he settled, enjoying the warmth and comfort on his touch starved body. This comfort was soon stopped when Dave woke up, and was replaced with another kind of happiness to see him there, with him, his beautiful eyes connecting with his.
“Dave,” Klaus whispered. Dave’s mouth started moving, and it was only then when Klaus realised he had the earphones on his head still. Gently, hoping the ghosts weren’t too loud, he lifted them off.
“Hey, did you sleep okay?” Dave asked, now that he could hear him.
“I did with you next to me.”
“Well, everyone I've met says I’m very warm… How are the ghosts?”
“Not too bad.”
“Let’s go get breakfast, yeah?” Klaus sat up from where his head was still resting. He and Dave caught eye contact and both smiled before standing up and leaving the common room. They go back up to their dorm and get dressed, giving each other friendly glances across the room.
“You found yourself something nice there?” he hears Five ask quietly when he tears his eyes away from Dave?”
“What?”
“I see the way you look at him. He seems nice.”
“What makes you think I like him?”
“Come on, Klaus. I saw you sneak off to the common room with him.”
“What are you implying?”
“Nothing, other than that I know you think it’s cute that he looked after you when you couldn’t sleep.”
“That doesn’t mean anything.”
“You probably shouldn’t anyway. Dad’ll kill you.” Klaus scoffs and turns away, placing his wand in place ready to go down to breakfast.
“Do you want to walk together?” Dave asks him with a smile on his face.
“Yes, I think that would be nice.” They walk together down to breakfast and sit together in their houses. Five sits opposite them and to the right, reading a book. Klaus thinks maybe he should have been put in the same house as Ben, so they could read together. They said they’d meet today outside anyway, at the bridge after breakfast. It’ll be nice to see them. He and Ben usually spend every moment together so now it feels like it’s been a year and a half longer than it has been.
Breakfast is beautiful and would be so much better if Klaus had any interest at all in eating. He pushes some food around his plate until it looks like he’s eaten something. The thought of food makes him feel a little nauseous.
“Dave, I’m just going to meet with my siblings outside, I’ll catch up with you later, yeah?” Klaus says before walking away with Five. Well, begins to walk until Five gets annoyed with his slow pace and teleports them to their meeting place. The siblings are waiting for them, and he just about hears Five murmur something under his breath about Klaus being ‘blinded by love’ and ‘slow as fuck’.
