i actually wrote the first chapter of this collection back in 2024, but i never wrote more that year so i didn't upload it! here it is. i often think of odysseus' suicidal ideation in the original story of the odyssey and feel sad... stay strong for your puppy, outis!

Don Quixote slumps against Outis on the bus seat which is absolutely usually hers and herd alone, fluffy blonde hair tickling Outis’s neck as she mumbles, “Lady Outis, prithee forgive me, but I am so very weary…” in that absurdly dramatic tone of hers that manages to remain even when she’s about to drift off. Outis raises a hand to push her off, only for Rodion to laugh and say, “Aw, come on, Outie, you’re such a grump—let her nap!” with a grin; rolling her eyes, Outis shoves Don Quixote toward Rodion, who eagerly pulls the girl into her side. Yet as Don Quixote settles in happily, Outis’ shoulder feels oddly cold, and her annoyance sharpens—though she isn’t sure if it’s at Don Quixote or herself.
