i actually wrote the first chapter of this collection back in 2024, but i never wrote more that year so i didn't upload it! here it is. i often think of odysseus' suicidal ideation in the original story of the odyssey and feel sad... stay strong for your puppy, outis!

The boy trembles under Outis’ gaze, his skin marked with the uneven stitches of his failed art piece, and Yi Sang's voice is quiet but firm behind her: "Will you do this to one who wears your son's years like a fragile mask?" Outis doesn’t falter, even at the mention of her long gone son, her hands precise as she brandishes her gleaming spear—this boy will be her masterpiece. "I can," she whispers, the final stroke of her work sinking deep, burying her feelings for her child in his heart. "and I will."
