did you ever think, what was the point of it all? - T, outis gen
Outis feels herself die (it had been a damned Peccatulum of all things to catch her off guard) and falls to her knees, wondering if this time she might finally rest for good: the odyssey has been long and hard and neverending and she’s not sure if it ever will and it’s only when she’s about to die that she realizes that she’s so so so tired. But then Penelope’s smile flashes in her mind, and her infant son’s small hands and little baby laughter, and she realizes that the point of it all has always been them. There’s no time to indulge in the weakness of wanting to die—not when her family is waiting for her, not when they deserve her return more than she deserves her rest. When the Executive Manager’s clock rewinds with a cold, mechanical hum—it’s standard, at this point—Outis rises again, the thought of home pulling her forward like a compass.
