Memories Can't save a Soul
Sirius had followed the other into the Slytherin dormitory and was pleasantly surprised when he found out that the Slytherins all had private suits. Draco had explained to him that because there were always so few Slytherin first years and because the dungeons were so big, there was enough room for each student to have their own. Sirius had retransformed sometime during this explanation and was currently laying on the bed waiting for the Slytherin to finish changing into his night clothes.
“So, what are you going to do now?” Draco paused, then continued sliding his arm through the Silk green pajama top.
“I’m going to hunt down the sorry bastards that took their souls from them and give them back. Then I’m going to find out whether or not Flowey is still alive, and if he isn’t then the person who killed him is going to have a BaD TiMe” Sirius looked over at that and notices that the boys eyes had flashed red, he was looking at himself in the mirror so there was a chance that the boy saw that as well.
“You might want to tone down the color change first, it might give you away.” Sirius watched the Slytherin through the mirror, he was inspecting his eyes at the moment.
“Yeah, I don’t think this happened the first time around when Chara was actually possessing me, it might be because Frisk wasn’t born to a magical family, nor were they magical expect for you know they’re weird dodging ability.” Somewhere through the boy talking Draco’s eyes flashed red and stayed red, this seemed to mean that Chara was taking over and was currently in control. Sirius noticed that the entire demeanor of the child seemed to change when the other was in control. Lost was the prince-like posture, replaced instead with one of someone who knew that they could beat anyone in a fight, and they wanted people to know it.
Sirius flinched a bit when those red eyes met his in the mirror, and he watched as the child smirked, probably liking that it could make a grown man potentially a mass murderer flinch just by looking at them. There seemed to be a weird power complex that came with Chara.
“You know, Frisk seems to really like you, it’s probably the only reason you and that wolf are still alive right now.” Chara shrugged, still meeting Sirius’ eyes in the mirror before it spun around and placed one hand on their hip and tipping its head back in a superiority manner and glaring at the man. “You see I hate humans; they don’t deserve to live in my opinion.” They smirked, stalking closer to the man who has sat up a bit to rest his weight on his elbows at their approach. “So, if Frisky-Poo ever give me the go ahead you should know this,” they leaned closer to the other man, and Sirius could see a back substance taking over the whites of their eyes before all that was left was a red glowing dot in the center of black. “I will kill every human that comes my way!” they hissed, and then they were gone, and Draco was once again in control of their own body.
He looked confused for a moment before he schooled his face into a blank stare, which was somehow creepier than the red glaring eyes – but not scarier than whatever that demon face was.
“Chara threatened humanity, didn’t they?” When Sirius nodded Draco let out a defeated sigh before collapsing on the bed next to the other man. “I don’t know what to do with them, I mean I understand they hate all things human despite once being a human, but I guess…” Draco trailed off with a sigh and buried his head into the pillow.
“You’re still young, you shouldn’t have to worry about a murderous ghost possessing you.” Sirius reached out and started petting Draco’s head. Draco peaked from behind the pillow and smiled at Sirius.
“Well, in my other life when I was like 9 or something, I was made Ambassador of the Monsters!” He flung his arms out in emphasis. Sirius only raised an eyebrow so Draco explained. “When I was fully Frisk, I fell into the Underground, which is where those Monsters you saw in the forest came from – they like being called monsters, it’s what their race prefers to be called – anyways I fell into the Underground and eventually made my way to the king, and after defeating a final boss with the power of Determination and Love, I managed to save all of them, and help them get out of the Underground. I was living with them for a while before…” Draco trailed off, he didn’t actually know when he had died in the last timeline or even how. It’s obvious that he did, he was reborn, but without his soul. So, how did it get separated from his body long enough for the body to die?
Sirius figuring that the story was traumatic for the kid decided to change the subject. “So, you mentioned that you knew all the monsters back there, and I know I have the names, but you can talk about them if it’ll help.” Draco smiled at the man.
“Okay, but turn back into a dog, I’m going to need something comfortable to lay with in order to get this out.” Sirius raised a hand to his heart and mocked hurt.
“Are you saying that I am not comfortable.”
“I’m saying your hairs matted, and you could use a meal or two, at least as a dog your fur was soft.” Sirius smiled down at the kid but changed forms none the less. Draco immediately moved to hug the dog with a sudden reminder of the dogs in the Underground he felt his heart hurt but pushed through the pain.
“Okay first you’ll need to know about Toriel, she’s the goat mom by the way…”
The next morning Draco Malfoy was seen entering the Great Hall with a large dog trailing behind him. He spared one glance towards the Slytherin table before continuing on his way towards the Head Table.
“I’m going back into the forest today.” Remus, who had been staring down at his plate in thought had not seen the other boy approach and jumped a little when he heard him. The first thing he noticed was that Sirius was sitting at the boy’s feet, staring at Remus in a way that made the werewolf think that there was something that Sirius needed to talk to him about. The second thing he noticed was that Draco was still wearing the skeletons jacket. Instead of his robes over his school uniform it was instead that blue winder coat that the boy practically swam in.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea Mr. Malfoy, you still have classes today for starters and the forest is Forbidden to students for a reason.” Remus knew that anything he said would be disregarded, but he at least should make it seem like he has authority.
“There were some missing, one of which was considered a Boss in her own right, I need to make sure that she is okay at the very least.” Draco sighed like it physically pained him to explain why he needed to do what he did. It actually did, he didn’t talk and now with his memories as Frisk returned, he realized why he did not like to talk in the first place.
Remus opened his mouth to reply when a shriek echoed through the Great Hall. Chara took over spinning around and crouching as they prepared to dodge or fight an incoming attack. Remus jumped up and reached for his wand along with the other teachers, but they soon realized that it was all for nothing. The shriek had come from one Ronald Weasley, who had just been entering the Great Hall by the looks of it. He was currently hiding behind Harry Potter, and Hermione Granger. The former was trying to calm him down while the latter looked done. The reason for the shriek, spiders scurrying along the ground heading directly for the head table.
The spider that was leading the march stopped in front of Draco and the blond bent down to take what the spider was carrying. It was a letter. He was about to read the letter when another spider carrying a specific type of doughnut caught his eye. Their breath caught as they reached out and took the doughnut smiling at it. They waved off the spiders and waiting till they were safely out of the Great Hall before opening the letter.
Upon seeing that the spiders had went to Draco Malfoy and then left after giving him something Ronald Weasley got the idea that the other boy had charmed the spiders specifically to scare him, because he’s an idiot. He marched up to the blond who was leaning against the Head Table a letter in one hand a purple doughnut in the other.
“Oi, Malfoy.” Draco gave the redhead no mind and continued to read the letter a soft smile on his face. Remus upon seeing that this could have consequences of Chara maiming the child decided to step in while the blond was distracted.
“Mr. Weasley, is there a reason you’re yelling?” Remus smiled at the boy. Harry glanced at Draco for a moment, then back at Remus his eyes furrowed but otherwise did not say anything. Ron on the other hand decided to get more heated upon seeing that he was being ignored. Hermione decided to sit down at the Gryffindor table and ignore her friends for the time being.
“I want to know why Malfoy decided to parade his dark magic around by controlling spiders, what snakes not enough for you?” Weasley sneered at the blond, who glanced over the letter once at the boy before going back to it. Only Remus who was standing next to the boy saw his eyes flash red in warning.
“I assure you that those spiders were not conjured with dark magic nor did Mr. Malfoy have control over them, right Mr. Malfoy?” Draco glanced at the professor before smirking and taking a bite out of the doughnut.
“Nope, they belong to a friend, one who solved my problem for me before I even went searching.” The letter was shoved into Remus’ face while the blond took another bite out of the treat.
Remus scanned over the letter taking in the information.
I sensed your presence return to us Dearie, is it true, is it you?
It must be no one else has as much determination as you do,
that much can be sensed. I wish to welcome you home, but as you can tell
There really isn’t much to welcome you back to.
Don’t worry I was in charge of leading the evacuation of the monsters
that refused to fight, so they are with me. We are deeper in the forest being guarded
by some precious spider friends who are just the side of Asgore! You should see them,
but really don’t. They eat humans apparently. I just want you to know that we’re fine.
The others…well you saw what happened to them. I know there is nothing I can
say that will stop you anyways. Good luck saving them, at least you can tell that their souls are still in one piece.
I just wanted to send you my love Dearie~ wish you all the luck,
Muffet!
P.s. Have a treat on me, that will be 9999 gold by the way, next time we meet!
“Yes, I see. This must be good news on your part Mr. Malfoy.” Remus smiled handing the letter back to the boy who had just finished his doughnut.
“Little bit.” Draco reached down to pet Sirius who was sitting down by his feet trying not to stare at Harry. Ron, who seemed to only get angrier at being ignored started sputtering in rage.
“Malfoy, keep your Death Eater friends and their spiders away from me!” Weasley snarled.
It didn’t even last a second one moment Draco was smiling and petting Sirius and the next he was holding Ron Weasley to the ground with his arm against his throat. Ron started squirming trying to pry the arm off his throat so he could breathe. He was trying to get as far away from the red glowing eyes that were staring down at him in that moment.
Chara could hear another one of the teachers stand up and call out “Mr. Malfoy!” in an annoying squireling voice that sent pins and needles through their head and only made them want to actually kill this child. ‘Humans’ they thought growling and pushing the boy harder to the floor, ‘They never change!”
“Listen here you pathetic excuse for a waste of air, you are to never call my friends Death Eaters, that is the one thing I will not stand for. Muffet has never done anything to you, and just because you’re too pathetic to get over your fear of spiders does not mean that I will let you disrespect her or her pets. Do you understand.” They didn’t wait for the boy to respond; Frisk having sensed incoming danger took over and threw their body off Weasley and to the side. Glaring at the Head Table where Professor McGonagall was standing with her want out.
Potter was helping the other boy off the ground, eyes still on Draco, everyone’s eyes were on Draco right now. This was the first time he had done anything like this, most of the time Malfoy was quiet and tried to stay out of the way of others.
“Mr. Malfoy there is no reason for you to attack Mr. Weasley.” McGonagall started, but Frisk did not let her finish.
“Oh, and calling my friends Death Eaters is no big deal, I didn’t even hear you attempting to scold him before I had him in the choker hold.” Draco sneering pulling himself off the ground and trying to mimic Chara’s aura of authority and power.
“I don’t think you’re doing it right; you seem to be exuding more killing intent then authority.” Chara giggled inside their head. ‘Well better that than anything else.’ Frisk thought back.
McGonagall seemed to be taken aback, but she was quick to find her footing so to speak. “Be that as it may that is still no reason to –” Draco cut her off.
“So, would you have scolded him if I called him and his friends Blood traitors, or Mudbloods and he tried to attack me?” Draco scoffed already knowing the answer was no. She would put up a front and take points maybe, but it would be like 5 and she would probably give back 10 for standing up for a friend. “And before you say that that those are different words with different meanings, they hold the same amount of prejudice for someone ignorant of a situation.” Draco finished when it seemed like she was going to argue again.
Remus decided to jump in at that. “Besides, I would not say that Mr. Malfoy was in complete control of his actions there.” Draco jumped spinning around to stare at the werewolf with betrayal, was he really going to out Chara? What was he thinking? If they so much as tried to separate the two of them to remove the demon, then Chara would kill everyone in this school. Was he stupid? Chara seemed to like that line of thought and was silently encouraging the werewolf to continue.
“Lupin!” Draco growled in warning, but the other man ignored him.
“Mr. Malfoy came to me yesterday saying that he was having weird episodes of complete rage, and after studying him I came to the conclusion that he is under a spell where in times of anger he goes into complete rage and cannot completely control what he does or says. You saw his eyes turn red earlier Mr. Weasley correct?” Ron nodded, “Yes that is a side effect, I was hoping to take it up with the Headmaster later, but with this episode it seemed better to explain it now.”
Draco let out a sigh of relief. So, the werewolf wasn’t completely dumb after all. Advanced anger issues, he could work with that.
