Do you think he stalked me?
Frieda had been devastated for a whole week now. Stupid, she knew that. But she could not help it.
"Do you have your assignment?," Evie launched her best friend out of her thoughts. "No, it's not finished yet," she sighed. "But you know that it's due tomorrow, right? And it's like 20 pages."
"Yeah, I know. I'm already halfway through. But while writing it I lost my energy."
"What is going on with you at the moment?"
Frieda was conflicted. She could not possibly tell Evie, even if she wanted to. "Nothing, I'm just tired, you know?"
"Yeah, this school year is very demanding. And it's only going to be harder in our last two years."
The truth was, Frieda found nothing about the school work hard. The only thing she actually found hard was life. How could she ever manage to live independently when a small thing like unrequited love already got in the way of existing like a normal person?
"Hey Evie, do you have time to talk for a minute?" The Ravenclaw looked up to be met by the eyes of a Durmstrang boy. "Erm, sure. And you are?" She looked him up and down as if she was trying to get an answer out of him like that.
"How impolite of me. I am Borislav, but you can call me Boris."
"Wait wait wait. Borislav? Borislav Sorokin?," Frieda interrupted their interaction
"Yes but how do you know my last name?"
"I'm Frieda. Frieda Anthemis. Your mother is my mother's sister. We're cousins. But I haven't seen you in ages. The last time was probably our grandma's birthday like ten years ago."
"Oh my god, I remember you. You are the one with the muggle father. My mother always insults your family though. She says aunt Agathe ruined our bloodline. Bullshit if you're asking me."
"Yeah, I know that nobody in our family like us." Frieda chuckled but deep down those words really hurt. Whenever she talked to her mother's family she had do endure these aggressive comments about her not really belonging to them. Even though she was a proper witch who started exhibiting magical behavior quite early on, she and her brother were always deemed
the muggle children.
"Sorry didn't mean it that way."
"No worries. But yeah... I interrupted you. You wanted to talk to Evie?"
"Oh, right. So Evie, I was wondering if you perhaps want to go to the ball with me? I know, you don't know me, but I always admired you from afar and I couldn't help but notice how beautiful you are and... Merlin, that sounded creepy..."
"No, not at all. Sure, I would love to go there with you."
Boris let out a deep breath. "Great. I'll pick you up at seven then. Good seeing you again Frieda. Greet your brother from me."
"Pinch me please. I can't believe that just happened. Okay, you have to tell me everything about him. How old is he? Is he nice? Has he had a girlfriend before?"
"Evie, calm down. I'm sorry, I don't know too much about him 'cause we're not really close. But I know that he's 16 and I believe he has three younger brothers. Boris has always been the nicest out of his family. The others aren't too fond of us but he has always been friendly. You got yourself a good one there."
"You think so? How exiting. But how does he know me? Do you think he stalked me? What if he is a crazy person just waiting to find his new victim. What if he..."
Frieda rolled her eyes. "I highly doubt that you're gonna fall victim to a stalker Evie. I think you can trust him. And if you're that scared, I can ask Emil to keep an eye on you two. I'm sure he will take care of the situation just fine."
"I'm gonna pass on that, but thanks." Evie looked at her best friend for a bit before she continued "But now there's only one problem left."
"What?"
"You don't have a date. Should we follow along with our Longbottom plan?"
Frieda sighed. "First of all, there is no plan. I never wanted to ask him in the first place. And second of all, I'm generally not really in the mood to go to the ball. I think I'll just stay in my dorm and read a book or something."
"Oh come on. You're not gonna stay in your room when everybody is having fun. Seriously Frieda, what is going on? You're behaving so strange lately. And don't tell me you're tired. You seem so sad. Have I done anything wrong"
The Hufflepuff looked to the ground. She was not sure what to do or to say. She could not possibly tell her the truth. But on the other hand, what did she have to lose? Nothing was going to happen between her and George anyways. So why not tell Evie?
Frieda took a deep breath before saying "So you know how George is going out with Heather?"
"Yes what about it?" She seemed irritated.
"Well, that's what I'm sad about."
"Wait, why?"
"I...I like him. Quite a lot actually. Please don't freak out. It's not like something's gonna happen or anything."
Evie stared blankly at the wall in front of her. "So you lied to me."
"I- no. How?"
"You said you are only using them for revenge and you didn't actually like them."
"That's what you gathered from that conversation, really? I said, that that would be a cool addition for us. And they left you alone, haven't they?"
"That's not the point here."
"Oh yeah and what exactly is the point?"
"It's that you love the people that hate me most."
Frieda was stunned. What has she done? Why would she think telling Evie was a good idea? She just caused so much unnecessary drama. How could she ever make that up to her?
"Nothing to say to that, have you?"
Evie jumped up from her chair and stormed out of the room. On her way out she bumped into Ollie, whom she ignored.
A few tears were streaming down Frieda's face as her friend sat down next to her immediately pulling her into a firm hug.
"What happened?," Ollie asked concerned.
"I...I really messed up. I told her about George."
"What? That you like him?"
Frieda nodded. "She asked me why I'm so sad. But she didn't take it well... obviously."
"No Frieda, that's really not it. Who you love is none of anybody's business. Not even Evie's."
"But..."
"No. She is not to decide everything. Stop trying to always make it right for her."
