Lae’zel’s Response
Summary
Lae’zel wrote a response to Shadowheart.(You can read the poem Shadowheart wrote to Lae’zel under “Dear Lae’zel” in my works homepage.)

Shadowheart,

I was not intending on writing you a response to your poem. However, you would benefit from more exposure to Githyanki culture.

Suns set and moons rise when I wake in bed

each morning an unexplored astral plane

rich with treasure and Gith glory. Instead,

I would rather forego the monsters slain.

I would rather forego riches plundered

if I could spend daylight in my moonlight

mending forgotten past that was sundered

with cruelty and unparalleled blight.

If I could revel in Night’s light shadows,

even just for one pure minute moment

then I could face any worthy fierce foes.

If death awaited me, a life well spent.

Zhak vo’n’fynh duj, I hope we never part.

My Sunset, my Moonrise, my Shadowheart.

- Lae’zel

(If you ever do this to anyone, I will kill you.)
