The first step p1 & 2

The tv lit up once again.
It came from the point of view of Ren just waking up, with each blink of his eyes, Nora appears in his vision, smiling.
“Wake up lazy bud!” Ren looked very unenthusiastic as Nora repeatedly screamed ‘It’s Morning’ over and over again. Ren is now brushing his teeth, Nora moving on to a different topic, “I can’t believe we’ve been at Beacon for a full twenty-four hours. Not that I thought we’d get kicked out or anything. I mean, you’re the perfect student and I’m well, I’m me! But it’s just crazy y’know?”
“Who are they?” Stuck up Steve asked.
“My friends Ren and Nora and two of Jaune’s teammates” Ruby replied.
Ren is now packing up his sleeping bag with Nora brushing her hair in the background “We’ve been friends for so long, what are the odds we’d still be together?”
“Well, not together ‘together’, not that I’m saying you’re not handsome, you are handsome, but that’d just be weird, right?” The two are now seen eating breakfast, Ren cutting into his pancakes while Nora seems to be devouring hers. “Right, what was I thinking? But still, I hope we end up on the same team together.” Nora slurped up a pancake.
Everyone looked at the screen strangely when they saw Nora slurp up a pancake.
“Oh, we should come up with some kind of plan. To make sure we end up on the same team together, what if we bribe the headmaster.”
“Well,it still worked out,” Weiss said.
“No, that won’t work, he has the school.” Ren is finally seen grabbing his weapons from his locker, with Nora still going on and on. “I know! We’ll have some sort of signal, like a distress signal, *Gasp*, a secret signal so we can find each other in the forest. Can you imitate a sloth?”
“Nora?” Nora stopped talking at that moment, “Yes Ren?”
“I don’t think sloths make a lot of noise.” Nora moves her eyes around as if thinking before yelling. “That’s why it’s perfect! No one will suspect we’re working together.” After all that time, Ren finally puts a smile on his face, as well as closes his locker door. “Come on Nora, let's go.” Nora then goes on about how they’re not together, “But not, together ‘together’.” Laughing as she follows Ren.
“She….seems nice,” Silly Simon said awkwardly.
“She is,” Ruby smiled.
Giving way to show Ruby and Yang gathering their stuff. “Wonder what those two are so worked up about.”
“Oh, who knows, so! You seem awfully chipper this morning.” Ruby answers with a happy hum, “Yep, no more awkward small talk or getting-to-know-you stuff. Today, I get to let my sweetheart do the talking.” Ruby rubs and hugs her scythe as if the weapon had a soul.
“You're really obsessed with that thing aren't you?” Ralph asked.
Ruby gasped,offended.
“How dare you! Crescent Rose isn't a thing, she's a female and my precious baby” Ruby said.
“Remember Ruby, you’re not the only one going through initiation. If you wanna grow up, you have to meet new people and have to learn to work together.” Ruby gave a large groan and proceeded to put her weapon back in her locker. “Ugh, you sound like dad.”
“Okay, first of all, what does meeting people have to do with fighting and secondly, I don’t need people to help me grow up, I drink milk.”
Ruby looked down with a red face embarrassed.
“But what about when we form teams?” Ruby turns from Yang dejectedly. “I don’t know, I’ll just be on your team or something.”
While speaking, Yang nervously grabs her hair and begins to fiddle with it. “Maybe you should try being on someone else's team.” Ruby confronts Yang with a pointed finger in her face, “My dear sister Yang, are you implying you do not wish to be on the same team as me?”
Yang puts her hands up defensively, “What? No! Of course I do, I just thought, I don’t know, maybe it would help you break out of your shell.” Ruby yells at her sister outrageously, “What! I don’t need to break out of my shell! That’s absolutely-”
It was at that moment, that Jaune walked into the conversation and came in on perfect timing. “Ridiculous! There’s no way I put my gear in locker 636 yesterday, I would have remembered to count that high.”
“That was perfect timing,” Weiss said.
“Oh, why does this have to happen today?” Jaune groans in dismay, as well as walks past Weiss and Pyrrha so we can get a glimpse of their conversation.
“So Pyrrha, have you given any thought to whose team you’d like to be on? I’m sure everyone must be eager to unite with such a strong well-known individual such as yourself.” Pyrrha just tilted her eyes to the side and gave a hum. “I’m not quite sure, I was planning on letting the chips fall where they may.”
“Well, I was thinking we could be on a team together.”
“Well, that sounds grand!” “Great!”
“And that's Pyrrha…. his last teammate” Ruby said, trying not to cry.
‘Did something happen to her?’ Simon thought.
A dark thundercloud appears behind Weiss, and a devilish and evil smile is present on her face. “This will be perfect, the smartest girl and class combined with the strongest girl in class. Together, we will be unstoppable, I can see it now; we’ll be popular, we’ll be celebrities, we’ll get perfect grades, and nothing can come between us now!”
Weiss’s face was burning with embarrassment.
“You know what else is great? Me, Jaune Arc, nice to meet you.” Weiss crossed her arms with a frown, “Ugh, you again.” Pyrrha buds in with a smile, “Nice to meet you Jaune.” But, he just pushed Pyrrha out of the way without a care in the world. “Yeah, yeah. So, Weiss, couldn’t help but over here your fondness of me the other day.” Jaune flexes his “muscles”.
Ruby tried not to laugh.
“Shut up Ruby,” Weiss replied.
“You have got to be kidding me.” Jaune ignored her annoyance and just kept on talking. “Don’t worry, no need to be embarrassed, so I've been hearing rumors about teams. I was thinking you and me would make a good one, what do you say?”
“Actually, I think the teams are comprised of four students each, so-” Jaune cut her off and got closer to Pyrrha. “Well hot stuff, play your cards right, and maybe you could join up with the winning team.” This was when Weiss stepped in, “Jaune is it? Do you have any idea who you’re talking to?”
“Not in the slightest Snow Angel.” Jaune replied.
“This is Pyrrha.” “Hello again!” “Pyrrha graduated top of her class at Sanctum.”
“Never heard of it.” Weiss gave a scoff, “She’s one of the Mistral Regional Tournaments four years in a row, a new record.”
“The what?” Jaune asked again confused.
“She’s on the front of Marshmallow’s Petes Flake box!” Weiss screams, flailing her arms around.
Jaune gives out a large gasp, “That’s you? They only do that for star athletes and cartoon characters!” As this was being said, Pyrrha’s head was on the face of the cereal box. “Yeah, it was pretty cool, sadly the cereal isn’t very good for you.”
“So, after hearing all of this, do you really think you’re in a position to ask her to be on your team?” Jaune looks down dejectedly, “I guess not, sorry.”
“Actually, Jaune, I’d think you’d make a great leader.” Hearing this sparked Jaune’s spirits right back up.
“Pyrrha was always so kind and sweet,” Weiss smiled.
“Was?” Miss Battle-Ax raised an eyebrow while Ruby and Weiss looked away.
“Doh, stop it!” Jaune responds bashfully, appreciating the compliment.
Weiss says angrily, “Seriously, please stop it. This kind of behavior should not be encouraged.” Jaune’s cocky confidence makes itself known again. “Sounds like Pyrrha’s on board for Team Jaune. Spots are filling up quick, now I’m not supposed to do this, but maybe I could pull some strings, find a place for you, what do you say?”
Weiss puts out her hands telling Jaune to back up, “Alright, that's a bit too close, Pyrrha, a little help please?” And, as in help, Pyrrha throws her weapon at Jaune and his getting caught somewhere could be heard. “I’m sorry!” Pyrrha screams to him.
Glynda’s voice could then be heard, “Would all first-year students please report to Beacon Cliff for initiation, again, all first-year students report to Beacon Cliff immediately.”
Weiss heads out, leaving Jaune pinned, and Pyrrha obtains her weapon back without actually touching it, “It was nice meeting you.” Jaune fell sloppily to the ground, “Likewise.”
Yang and Ruby came back on screen, “Having some trouble there lady-killer?” Ruby puts out her hand, so he can use it to get up.
“I don’t understand, all women look for is confidence. Where did I go wrong?” Jaune asked himself.
“Snow Angel probably wasn’t the best start.” Ruby got Jaune up and allowed him to lean on her. “Come on Jaune, let's go.”
Everyone is now present on the side of Beacon Cliff. “For years, you have trained to become warriors and today our abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest.”
“Now, I’m sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of teams, well allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates, today.” Ruby voices her nervousness on the matter. “These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon, so it is in your best interest to be paired with someone whom you can work well with.” More of Ruby’s nervousness showing. “That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years.”
It was then as if Ruby’s world was shattered around her, literally. “What!?”
“Nobody told me about that,I just wanted to be a huntress myself” Ruby mumbled.
“Yeah well that backfired for both of us,I wanted to be on Pyrrha’s team and you wanted to be alone” Weiss explained.
“See, I told you," Nora whispered over to Ren.
Ozpin continued to speak, “After you’ve partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way, do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path or you will die.”
Jaune gives a very nervous gulp, and Nora just gives Ren a large smile. “You will be monitored and graded for the duration of your initiation. But our instructors will not intervene, you will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one, and return to the top of a cliff. You will guard that item as well as your standing and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?”
“Yeah, um, sir?” Jaune raises his concerns, but Ozpin just ignores him completely. “Good, now, take your positions.”
Every student does so, but Jaune still would like to ask his question. “Um, sir? I’ve got a, um, question.”
Weiss has been launched.
“So this landing strategy thing, what is it?” Jaune asked.
“You’re like, dropping us off or something?” he asked.
“No, you will be falling.” A member of Team CRDL has been launched.
“Oh, I see, so like, did you hand out parachutes for us?” Jaune asked again.
“For some reason I'm worried,” Simon said out loud.
Nora launched off excitedly. “No, you will be using your own landing strategy.” This only made Jaune even more nervous.
Yang winked at her sister.
She put on aviators before being launched with a yell. “Woohooo!”
“So, what exactly is a landing strategy?” He was blasted off the cliff before he could finish his sentence. The sound of Jaune’s screaming was fleeting.
Ozpin just sips from his mug with a tiny smile. Then the screen goes black.
The screen turns back on.
The vast expanse of the Emerald Forest is shown, and a harp melody plays in the background. Flying in the air is a small crow, minding its own business, not realizing its own dem was in about three seconds.
Ruby fell from the sky, directly hitting the bird and most likely killing it. “Birdie no!” the redheaded girl cried. Crescent Rose was in its sniper rifle form, Ruby rapidly firing to lessen the impact. It was then changed to its scythe form, where Ruby grabbed onto a single tree branch and spun around and round.
Next was Weiss, who gave herself a glyph platform to propel off of. Then, with Nora and Ren. Ren latches onto a tree trunk and uses his weapons to smoothly make his way down in a spiral, landing gracefully, and brushing off his shoulders. He looks around to see he’s lost Nora.
He looks up to see Yang firing herself deeper and deeper into the forest, sounding like she’s having the time of her life. “Alioop,” her enjoyment is very visible with the enormous grin present.
Yang blasts herself through the trees and uses them as leverage to bounce off others, before landing with a front roll. “Nailed it.”
Pyrrha is shielding herself from the incoming trees that crash into her. Landing on a branch, her spear is in rifle mode, scoping out the area. She spots Jaune screaming while free-falling. Her rifle transforms into her spear and sticks out her thumb, aiming. Her spear blasts off with a bang and the sound of Jaune being caught as well thanks to Pyrrha could be heard. “Thank you!”Pyrrha just apologizes for saving his life. “I’m sorry!”
“What is she apologizing for? She saved his life” Margaret asked.
“That's just how Pyrrha was” Weiss said though everyone noticed how the referred to her in past tense but said nothing of it.
The camera shows a random spot in the Emerald Forest, zooming in, before showing Ruby land, take off and continuously repeat in her head to find Yang. “Yang! Yang!”
“Aww, this is bad, this is really bad. What if I can’t find her, what if someone finds her first.” Ruby’s thoughts continue, above her head are her thoughts created, showing Jaune holding his hand out for her. “There’s always Jaune, he’s nice, he’s funny. I don’t think he’s very good in a fight though.”
Her vision shows Jaune getting mauled by wolves. “Oh! What about Blake?”
“So mysterious, so calm, plus she likes books! Then again, I’m not sure I’d be able to hold a conversation with her.” She shakes her head and the doodles disappear.
“Ok, who else do I know in this school? There’s Yang, Jaune, Blake annnd….” Ruby skids herself to a halt and makes direct eye contact with Weiss. Ruby gives a smile, but Weiss just starts to walk off.
“Wait! Where are you going?” Ruby calls after. But Weiss just keeps on walking. “We’re supposed to be teammates,” she says, kicking the ground beneath her.
Everyone who knew Henry very well didn't take him to look so sad while the look Ruby had on screen was tugging Weiss's heart.
Weiss is shown struggling as she tries to make her way through the brush. She hears mumbling above her and sees Jaune trying to detach himself from the tree trunk.
Jaune nervously waves at her, but she walks back where she came. “By no means does this make us friends,” Weiss says, grabbing Ruby by her hood and dragging her along with her. “You came back!” Ruby shouts in delight.
The screen is shown from Jaune’s point, “Wait, come back! Who’s going to get me down from her?”
Weiss felt guilty for leaving Jaune up there now that she thought about it.
“Jaune”, Pyrrha calls down from below. “Do you… have any spots left on your team?” Jaune crosses his arms, “Very funny.” As well as a frown, that turned into a warm smile, Pyrrha returning the gesture.
“What’s the hurry?” Ruby asks Weiss as they make their way through the forest. “I will not let my mission be delayed because you’re too slow. I swear if I get a bad grade because you’re-” She was ultimately cut off and surprised when Ruby appeared in front of her in less than a second. And moving her hands as if she were a mare on her hind legs.
“What the-?” Ruby points her thumb at herself with a proud smile, “I’m not slow, see? You don’t have to worry about me.
“When did-?”
“Weiss, just because I don’t exactly know how to deal with people doesn’t mean I don’t know how to deal with monsters.”
Ruby wraps an arm around Weiss. “You’re about to see a whole different side of me today Weiss. And after it’s all over you’re gonna be ‘Wow, that Ruby girl is really, really cool, and I want to be her friend.” And without saying a word, Ruby dispersed into petals and disappeared.
The bushes around Weiss begin to rustle.
“How did you do that?” Sour Susan asked.
“It's my semblance which is basically a super power” Ruby replied.
“You may be fast, but you still excel at wasting time!” When Weiss doesn’t get a response, her posture falters and she begins to show her nervousness. “Ruby!” Weiss looks forward towards a certain patch of brush, and the area around it darkens. As she moves her body, a pair of red eyes are visible behind her. From the brush comes a low growl, and the camera circles to
show more red eyes.
A large grimm Grimmly makes itself known to Weiss, and the same girl calls out for her new partner again as the Grimm screeches at her. And then the screen goes black.
