Goddess of Happily Ever After - OUAT
Emma Swan had seen and experienced a lot of weird and strange things since the day Henry brought her to Storybrooke. This however, absolutely took the cake.
It had been a day much like any other. She'd been having coffee with Killian by the marina when Leroy had come shouting about the monster of the week. With a roll of her eyes and Killian's sigh they had gone to investigate...
As it turned out, the new threat was rather fond of preying on people's relationships. It loved isolating them, driving them to destroy their relationships with acts and words meant to cut deep. She hated it. She hated even more how effective it was. Her parents were fighting - which made it glaringly apparent that true love would not protect them from the creature's manipulations - and Regina had distanced herself from them in wise anticipation. Gold and Belle seemed surprisingly fine. But then again, Belle's necklace was glowing gold and Gold was the Dark One, so he'd likely taken precautions. Who worried her were Killian and herself. They could hurt each other deeply, lastingly, open old scars to pour salt in wounds that were quick to fester.
Cautiously, Emma glanced at her pirate. He was looking at her, face set with determination. She could feel the creature's power settle over herself, whispers in her mind trying to fan the flames of doubt and hurt. Her experience as the Dark One had made her familiar with these whispers but she didn't think she'd be able to fight them for long.
Emma readied her magic, shot at the creature while she still could. Her magic connected. The creature showed no sign of being even mildly inconvenienced. The magic rebounded straight back into her, her soft white greyed from contact with the creature. The whispers grew louder, more insistent. She could fight it, she had to.
Like a warm blanket in a cold night something settled around her, filling her with confidence, with hope. It felt like the softest of wings enveloping her, giving her strength, certainty.
The whispers were gone but in the back of her mind there was the tiniest of tugs, like it didn't mean to irritate or distract her and just wanted to let her know it was there, willing to wait for when it was convenient for her. Curiosity burning, Emma followed the tug in her mind and found…
You can do this, love, you can do anything you set your mind to. I believe in you, Swan. I love you. Nothing can ever change that. And no beast of legend can make me want to hurt you. I know you can vanquish it. You are strong, my love, and good and you don't let anyone tell you what to do. You're a fighter and you will win. You always do.
She pulled back from Killian's mind. Hearing what must have been his thoughts was strange and elating. No-one had ever believed in her like that. As if she could do anything, not because of being the saviour or a Child of True Love or anything like that but simply because of who she was. And right now, she felt like she could truly do anything.
Emma turned her attention to the creature. She wasn't exactly sure what had changed or what she was doing or how she knew it would work but she raised her hand towards the beast and simply willed it away. With the monster gone, she turned to the people around her. It was as if she could see strings connecting them to each other, only most of these strings were frazzled now, pulled taunt and stretched out. Still not quite sure what she was doing, Emma reached out with her magic, soothing frazzled and taunt strings back into soft and sleek comfort. When she turned to Gold and Belle, their red string was wrapped in golden armour, and beneath that, patched but sleek and despite old signs of neglect obviously well cared for now. Curiosity had her look towards Killian, eager to see the string between them. It wasn't a string. What bound them was a wide ribbon of crimson that twisted into a three fold bond with unbreakable iron chain and durable marine rope. And through it all threaded white feathers like a swan's.
Her mother's voice pulled her back to the real world, the strings fading from view, not gone but no longer in focus.
"What happened? How did you do that, Emma? Oh and why are you glowing?"
Emma had no answers for any of Snow's questions. The Dark One however, seemed to have.
"It appears that between the magical rebound from the Devorador de finals feliços and the pirates ridiculous levels of devotion, Miss Swan has become a goddess."
