Class 1-B 1
"Now, onto Izuku Midoriya," Nezu began, "He passed the written examination with a score of ninety-four, ranked third. As for the practical examination, he received zero villain points and in fact didn't use his quirk throughout the test until the very end. However, he was the sole person to attempt to aid an Ochako Uraraka, who had been pinned by some rubble. After releasing her from the rubble, the young man used his quirk for the first time and destroyed the zero-pointer. He received sixty rescue points for this. Which class should be he be placed in? Aizawa? Kan?"
Putting his papers down, Nezu glanced towards Aizawa as the man spoke, "I still disagree with that decision. He shouldn't have received so many rescue points. Points for pulling the rubble off the girl, fine, perhaps ten or twenty. But points for damaging himself attacking the zero-pointer? And why didn't he use his quirk before that point? That sort of lack of control speaks of laziness. I think he lacks potential and shouldn't be admitted to the hero course."
Nezu was amused at the glare All Might directed at Aizawa and spoke up before the hero could, "I was curious, so looked into the young man. He only recently registered his quirk, so it looks like he's a late bloomer. It's quite rare to develop a quirk so late, but it's happened before. That's likely why he didn't use his quirk until he felt he had to. He's still learning how to use it properly."
"All the more reason to reject him. If he's only had the quirk a short time, he will only hold the other students back," Aizawa said with a shrug. "He should be put into General Education. If he does well in the Sports Festival, this can be reconsidered."
Kan interrupted with a sigh, "Aizawa, we already discussed this when determining rescue points. Whether you like it or not, he received those rescue points. And of course he needs to learn; isn't that our job, to teach our students?" He looked at Nezu, "As Aizawa is so dismissive of the lad, I'll take him. Otherwise, I daresay he'd be expelled on his first day due to a lack of potential. Remember last year." The large hero's voice was laden with sarcasm.
Aizawa frowned at Kan, opening his mouth to argue, but Nezu spoke first, "Accepted. Midoriya is in 1-B. Next student is Neito Monoma..."
Amusingly, All Might continued to glare at Aizawa. He'd hit a nerve, apparently.

Yagi walked towards Kan's office. He was on a mission, of sorts. He hadn't planned on disclosing the secret of One for All to Izuku's teacher, but the way Aizawa had spoken worried him. With Kan being so supportive, he might be able to help the boy, too. Yagi knew he certainly wasn't very good at teaching. Pausing outside the door, he paused then knocked. When the door opened, he said, "Kan, may I speak to you?"
"Oh, of course, Yagi," the man said. He'd been surprised when he discovered just who Yagi was. "What can I do for you?"
Entering the office, Yagi shut the door behind him, "I wanted to thank you for defending Midoriya. He's something of a protégé of mine, so I felt I shouldn't personally defend him during the meeting."
Brow rising, Kan asked, "Is he now? That sounds like a story. Sit down. How did the number one hero become interested in the lad?"
This was amazingly hard, with how long he's hidden One For All. "This is a secret, so please don't tell anyone," Yagi said, before continuing. "My quirk... is special. It can be passed from one person to another, and over time, it grows stronger. When I was young, I was given this quirk, and when I saw how determined Midoriya was to be a hero, I passed it on to him. Nezu and Recovery Girl already know about this, but no one else on staff know the details of my quirk, just my injuries. As young Midoriya's teacher, I thought it prudent to tell you as well."
Kan blinked. "Your quirk can be passed on." He said it in a dry voice. "And now, Midoriya has it."
"Yes," Yagi admitted. "With my injuries, I'm sure you can understand why I was looking for a successor. Midoriya has a true heart of a hero."
"Well, that would explain why he only registered his quirk recently," Kan said. "Is that why he wasn't using it during the examination?"
"Yes," Yagi admitted. "He only received it a day before the examination. My quirk requires a very strong body. I wanted to be sure he was ready, as otherwise simply receiving the quirk could be dangerous. Even now, he breaks his bones if he uses it at its full power. He needs time to grow into it, and to learn how to lessen the power he's using so it doesn't shatter his bones until he does."
"Mmm. So, if he uses it at its full strength, he shatters his bones like with the zero-pointer. And he needs to learn to use it at a lower level. Basically, he needs to learn finesse." Kan leaned back, "That's interesting. It reminds me of another student I taught. Her quirk used her stamina, and she tended to just let it go and exhaust herself in a few minutes."
Yagi perked up, "So you have experience. I'd appreciate if you helped him. I'll try of course, but I'm really not a good teacher. I know my limits," he said with a laugh.
"He's my student," Kan said simply, "I appreciate you telling me, I can tell that you were leery about it."
"Our student," Yagi said with a wide smile, giving Kan a glimpse of his All Might persona.
Kan nodded, "Why don't we discuss the matter, then. He needs to strengthen his body and learn finesse. Perhaps work on proper visualization, that helped with Hadou. I'll arrange for time in the gyms..."
The discussion was a long one.

Izuku Midoriya walked into the dormitory, almost vibrating in nervousness and excitement. He was here! He had gotten in! The weeks until he received his acceptance were full of stress and despair, but somehow he had made it through! He would become a hero!
He just hoped that Bakugou wasn't in his class.
As he started to look around, he heard someone clear their throat to the side. Glancing towards the sound, he saw a red-haired girl, "Hey! Name?" She asked brightly in a light, alto voice.
"Uh, Izuku Midoriya," he told her nervously.
"Midoriya..." she murmured, looking over a set of manila envelopes, "Ah, here we are. I'm Itsuka Kendou." She offered one of the envelopes to Izuku, "If it's anything like mine, it has some information packets and your room key. Your things should already be in your room, as the movers dropped everyone's things off already," Itsuka said with a smile. "I got here early, so Vlad-sensei asked me to hand them out while he was gone."
"I'm back, though," said a deep voice as the door opened, "Hello, Midoriya, Kendou." The large hero nodded. "Thanks for helping out, Kendou. I'll take it from here." As she nodded, the hero moved to sit in the kitchen near the entryway, taking her chair after she got up. To Izuku, he said, "I'm Vlad King. You can call me Vlad-Sensei," he introduced himself.
Izuku perked up, "Vlad-sensei, it's an honor to meet you! Your quirk is phenomenal, it's so versatile with how you use it for both offense and defense..." About to continue, he realized he was starting to babble, and blushed. "Could I get your autograph, once I've moved in, sir?"
Kendou watched this interaction with amusement, while Vlad laughed. "Oh, certainly, Midoriya. Go unpack, and we can handle that once everyone's settled in."
"All right, sir," Izuku said as he looked through his envelope. Lots of information packets, schedules, and... ah, yes. Apparently he was on fifth floor. He quickly read directions, and nodded to himself.
To the side, Kendou said with a smile, "I'll go unpack as well, now that I've time."
Nodding towards Kendou, saying hesitantly, "Nice to meet you, Kendou," Izuku headed towards one of the elevators and took it up to the fifth floor. "Let's see, I'm in 5D...right at the end, here." Using his key card, he unlocked the door and entered, finding a stack of boxes waiting for him. He paused. "Oh. This is going to take a while."
It did take a while: over an hour in fact. But soon he had his room laid out as he wished. He'd left a lot of his collection at home, but he kept some of his best All Might and Miruko pieces as well as a few lesser-known hero figures. Putting the final touches in by placing the last book in the bookcase, Izuku nodded. "Perfect," he told himself.
After plugging in his laptop on the desk and making sure it was recharging, Izuku considered. Moving over to a bookcase, he pulled one of his notebooks from a shelf and went to settle onto his bed. Looking through its pages, he nodded. This was the one with his write-up on Vlad King. He glanced up as he heard someone knocking on his door, and rose to his feet once more, opening the door.
Standing there was a green-haired girl with pointed teeth. Beside her stood a boy whose black hair was formed into a long braid. "Yo!" Said the girl. "I was goin' around seeing if people wanted to come downstairs. Vlad-sensei suggested that people come to have a dorm meeting. Name's Tokage, and this is Rin." The boy beside her nodded politely at him, though seemed content to let Tokage speak.
"Uh...sure," Izuku said. He tucked his notebook under his arm and checked his pocket for his key card, making sure it was there. He stepped out of his room and shut the door, "I guess that works. I-I'm Midoriya."
"Nice to meet you, Midoriya," Tokage said while Rin simply nodded, offering a smile. "You were the last one, so let's head on down."
Suiting action to words, they took the elevator and emerged onto the first floor. Izuku really hadn't looked around much before, so he took a few moments to look around the area. An archway led into the communal kitchen, and the central area was covered with chairs and couches. A large television rested on the wall, and there were a few tables scattered around as well. He could see a large group of people. At least he couldn't see Kacchan, was he in 1-A?
"Hey, Midoriya, Rin, Tokage," called a familiar voice, and Izuku turned to see Vlad-sensei waving towards them. "I was thinking we could have a meet and greet among the students. I figured you can go around and introduce yourselves, explain your hobbies and quirk. Just talk a little about yourselves."
Izuku nodded at the teacher politely, moving to sit quietly on one of the couches, looking nervous. Tokage plopped down beside him, saying brightly, "Green solidarity!" She added, waving to wards another green-haired girl, "Come sit over here!"
Slowly, the other girl made her way in their direction, and nodded, "Greetings. I am known as Ibara Shiozaki," she said to them as she introduced herself.
Once everyone sat down, he saw Vlad speaking to someone before moving to sit in the back, giving the students space. A wild-haired boy walked to the front, "Hey! I'm Yosetsu Awase. My quirk is called Weld. I can basically fuse things together. Yeah, even people, so watch out! That's all for me. Whoever's in seat number two, your turn..." He went to sit back down.
Izuku thought back to his information packet. He was in seat number eighteen, apparently, so it'd be a while. Pulling out one of his notebooks, he quickly began sketching notes on each person as they spoke. Looking over his shoulder, Tokage asked, "Whatcha doing?"
"Taking notes," Izuku answered, flashing a smile towards the girl, "Everyone's quirks sound so cool. Yours is awesome, I have so many questions I want to ask later, if you're willing."
"Sure thing! Ask away, as long as you don't want to know my sizes," teased the girl, smirking at his blush. "You're really into quirks, huh?"
"Oh yes, they're interesting. They don't always make sense, but that's half the fun." Izuku clarified, "Trying to figure out how they work and all." As he spoke, he listened to the various people introducing themselves, taking more notes.
Soon, it was his turn, and he got up, moving to the front, "H-hello. I'm Izuku Midoriya, and I enjoy learning about quirks and heroes and such. My quirk is called Super Power; it boosts my strength and speed. I'm a late bloomer, so d-don't have the best control over it yet." With this, he slowly turned and made his way back to his seat. That was stressful, Izuku thought.
After the final two students rose to speak, Vlad-sensei got up and said, "Feel free to talk among yourselves. We will be having class tomorrow, don't forget, so don't stay up too late." He paused, "Midoriya, I need to speak to you a moment, so please come with me."
"All right, sir," Izuku agreed, moving towards Vlad-Sensei. They walked up the steps towards the dorm's office. Gesturing for Midoriya to precede him, Vlad followed and pointed to a chair. Midoriya slowly lowered himself into the seat.
After he shut the door, Vlad settled into a chair of his own, "I spoke to All Might. He told me about One For All, and how recently you gained the quirk."
Izuku blinked, staring at Vlad a moment, then nodded, "Yeah, the only time I used it was with the zero-pointer." He wrinkled his nose, "That didn't work out so well. It's just too strong for me."
"It's not surprising, from what All Might said. It's grown stronger as long as he has had it, which is apparently over four decades. I'd be shocked if you could use it well right off the bat." Vlad continued, "What you need to do is learn finesse, and need to improve your body further. A focused stamina and weight lifting regiment in the latter case, if you see what I mean."
"I was hoping to use one of the gyms on campus," Izuku admitted. "I did some weight training with All Might, but it was more a general fitness thing. I cleaned all the trash, including the heavy stuff, from Dagobah Beach."
"While that works for general fitness, you really need to have you more targeted weight lifting, as well. I can help you by designing a weight program," Vlad nodded, "As for controlling your quirk, visualization usually is a good idea. I was helping someone else a year ago, her quirk involves using her stamina to create blasts of energy. She'd basically use it all at once and tire herself out in a minute or two. Your problem isn't stamina, rather it's power; however, it's still about finesse and moderation. We just need to get the proper imagery for you, and teach you how to apply it to your quirk. It's a similar idea to medical biofeedback, with a touch of meditation. Quirks are a part of our bodies, after all." Vlad explained.
"All right. I'll do whatever it takes to improve, sir," Izuku said, nodding as he straightened in his seat.
"I know you will," Vlad told him. "Now, according to your schedule, you have free time Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from ten to twelve thirty and on Tuesdays and Thursdays, you have free time from two to four. How about we put you down for gym use during those times, plus from nine to twelve on Saturday and Sunday? It's a lot of work, but we need to focus on improving your body as much as possible. It also leaves your evenings and some of your weekends free for homework and socializing with your fellow students."
Vlad was amused to see Izuku actually perk up at this. The boy was actually excited. "I can do that. If you can give me a list of what I should be doing, I'll get right on that, sir. Tomorrow's a Monday, so I can start tomorrow."
He couldn't help it; Vlad laughed. "Midoriya, don't change. I like your enthusiasm. I'll write up what you should be doing, and send it to your school email address. You can go now. Finish unpacking, talk to your fellow students, whatever."
"Yes, sir!" Izuku said with a nod and turned, moving to leave. "Thank you, sir," he said over his shoulder before he shut the door behind him.

"Hey, Midoriya!" Izuku heard Tokage's call as he came down the stairs into the lounge area. "What'd Vlad-sensei want to talk to you about?"
Walking in the girl's direction, Izuku shrugged, "My quirk came in late, and there's still a lot of work to put into it. He wanted to discuss scheduling some of my free time to spend in the gym. My quirk is very stressful on my body, so more weight training would be useful."
"Oh? Late bloomer, huh? You said your quirk increases your strength and speed. How's it stressful for the body?" Tokage asked.
"The last time I used it, I broke both of my legs and my arm. It's very difficult to not use it at full power, as well; it's all or nothing, right now," Izuku answered.
"Woh. Broke your legs and your arm?" Shaking her head, Tokage commented, "That's horrible, I can see why you want to exercise. I've never heard of a quirk like that."
"Yeah. My mentor thinks the reason it didn't appear till late is I wasn't physically capable of using it. It only manifested when I could use it without basically killing myself." Izuku shuddered, "I don't want to think about a little kid using my quirk. I'm still working on it, though. Vlad-sensei thinks I need to work on finesse; if I can use a bit of it at a time, it won't break me, after all."
"That makes sense," Tokage said as she walked along. "I'll keep an eye out, I bet some of the others might like to join you if times line up. I know Kendou and Tetsutetsu are into weight training."
"That'd be n-nice." Considering, Izuku added, "I should go up to my room, early day tomorrow and I have some things I need to work on before bed."
"'k! Have a good one," Tokage answered brightly before walking off to loop an arm around Tsunotori, "Hey, Tsunotori..."
Izuku watched a moment before turning and making his way up the steps. First finish my notes, then check HeroTube. Then I can get to bed.
