Sokovia was our next stop, the location of Strucker’s lab and would end up being the hardest to take down yet, but I left the Avengers to handle the base without me because I had my own mission in Sokovia. I was still actively hunting down the seven werewolf packs to create the cure and my best chance at getting venom from the Paxton pack was in Sokovia meaning I wasn’t there when the avengers first met the Maximoff twins. Wanda and Pietro Maximoff were a formidable force to be reckoned with, Pietro has increased metabolism and improved thermal homeostasis and wanda’s thing is neural electric interfacing, telekinesis and mental manipulation. So in the words of Maria Hill “He's fast and she's weird."
I was later filled in about ‘the enhanced’ at the little get together to celebrate getting Loki’s sceptre back. I was finally getting to know the other avengers I was especially close with Nat, probably because she was the only other woman in the group, but the guys were okay especially when they all act like idiots and try to lift Mjölnir. Me and Natasha were just happy to sit back and watch the show, it was never a question we needed answered. As you know that night did not end well mostly because Bruce and Tony made themselves a literal murder AI ‘Ultron’ but also because we lost the sceptre again. We were back to square one so we had to figure out where Ultron would go.
Our research ended up pointing us in the direction of Ulysses Klaw, an underground black market arms dealer, so that’s who we went looking for. This lead us straight to Ultron and the twins, Ultron and Pietro distracted us as Wanda took us out one by one with her mental manipulation. She eventually got to me and to this day I have never been able to get it out of my head, the image of my children dying in front of me, failing my family, being abandoned all over again and not being able to do anything to stop it. That wasn’t just it though. Wanda saw something as well I could see it in her eyes, questioning whether she was doing the right thing, because what she saw in return was that I was pregnant and she couldn’t live with herself knowing she hurt kids. At the time I still didn’t know because it was so early on but from that moment onwards she wouldn’t let Ultron or Pietro hurt me, she became very protective of me but that wasn’t the end of it.
The fighting went on but eventually the maximoffs joined the avengers, that’s when Wanda told me I was 2 months pregnant. We started to become close, I even let Wanda wear my favourite red leather jacket when facing off against Ultron and from that moment on we were inseparable. Pietro was the most important person in Wanda’s life, her only remaining family, but from the moment Wanda locked eyes with vision you knew they were destined to be together. Vision was a child of Ultron, he was supposed to be the evolved Ultron until we stole the body and the mind stone along with it. So, when Tony and Bruce got their hands on the body they couldn’t help themselves but upload Jarvis’ matrix with a few tweaks instead of destroying it.
We returned to Sokovia where we uncovered Ultron’s plan for mass genocide and had to fight an army of evil robots, yeah I know very cliche. Wanda never even thought about leaving my side and after everyone else found out I was pregnant I was constantly babysat but that didn’t stop me from getting involved in some of the action. Using my mutant abilities I linked to Wanda and together we destroyed half of Ultron’s army in minutes all while Sokovia was getting higher and higher off the ground. We thought it was over, that we had no chance of getting out of this alive until the most beautiful thing emerged over the horizon, Nick Fury on a battleship loaded with lifeboats ready to evacuate the citizens of Sokovia. I unlinked with Wanda and linked with Pietro instead and by using his super speed helped to get as many people on the lifeboats as quickly as possible while Wanda protected the core.
We thought everyone was on the lifeboats until we heard a mother cry out for her son, so obviously Hawkeye’s paternal instincts kicked in and he went to find the boy but not before Ultron found him. Pietro thankfully was able to pull a turned over car in front of all three of them before Ultron could get a good shot in, saving them all.
We got everyone to safety and we returned home to America with 3 new avengers in tow. Stark tower had been destroyed but Tony was already 3 steps ahead. He had already built a new avengers compound where we would all live and train preparing for the next threat that would head our way.
