Perhaps it began the moment Till introduced Hyuna to his boyfriend’s best friend, Mizi, and his sister, Sua. Or maybe it was when she spotted Mizi in the stands during the first game of the new basketball season, cheering her on with an enthusiasm that seemed to reach her even over the roar of the crowd. It could have been later, when Sua quietly showed up at her doorstep with a bundle of meticulously organized notes, not only covering everything Hyuna had missed during her high fever but also going above and beyond with extra resources to help her catch up.

Somewhere along the way, in the warmth of their kindness and the ease of their shared moments, Hyuna’s feelings began to shift. It wasn’t a sudden realization, but a quiet, steady bloom — one she hadn’t even noticed at first. By the time she understood what was happening, the truth was undeniable: she had fallen in love with the two other girls in their friend group.

And now, that realization follows her like a shadow, weighing on her thoughts and haunting her heart in ways she never anticipated.

It doesn’t help, of course, that her other three friends are utterly useless when it comes to helping her navigate this tangled mess of emotions.

Till, bless his heart, is as clueless as they come. Despite Hyuna loving him like a brother, Till’s romantic expertise begins and ends with his one and only relationship with Ivan. The second Hyuna brings up her love troubles, Till’s face flushes crimson, and he stammers his way through an awkward string of half-formed advice before eventually giving up altogether. It’s endearing, but thoroughly unhelpful.

Then there’s Ivan — her best friend, her confidant, and, regrettably, the single most insufferable person to talk to about this. He doesn’t even try to hide the smug, cocky grin that spreads across his face whenever Hyuna so much as mentions her dilemma. She knows he’s not mocking her, not really, but that smile still makes her blood boil. Every time, she has to resist the very real urge to punch him square in the jaw.

Luka, her dear childhood friend, fares no better. He’s got his own romantic issues, and honestly, Hyuna can’t blame him for being preoccupied. Still, his uselessness is frustrating when all she wants is someone to commiserate with. She loves him, of course, but sometimes she wonders if he’s even paying attention when she vents.

And then there’s Hyunwoo, her brother, who doesn’t even pretend to offer support. Instead, he just laughs — loud and unapologetic — right in her face. It’s infuriating, and yet, in a strange way, it’s the most consistent response she gets.

It also doesn’t help that both Mizi and Sua seem to be drawing closer to her with each passing day, as if fate is intent on making her feelings even more complicated. Mizi regularly invites her to parties, and Hyuna almost always agrees to go. She tells herself it’s just to be polite or to keep Mizi company, but deep down, she knows it’s more than that. It is a bonus point for the alcohol too.

Sua, meanwhile, pulls her into study sessions, which Hyuna has privately — and now almost openly — started calling “study dates.” The time they spend together feels intimate in a way that makes her heart flutter, and Hyuna can’t help but look forward to those quiet hours with just the two of them.

Their lives seem intertwined now, their routines overlapping so seamlessly that Hyuna wonders how it all happened. She waits with Mizi every day for Sua to finish her council duties so they can walk home together. She shows up to every cheer competition Mizi is part of, with Sua beside her, cheering like they’re Mizi’s biggest fans. And when it’s Hyuna’s turn to play basketball, both girls are there in the stands, cheering just as loudly for her.

It’s impossible not to feel her heart race when they’re around — when Mizi’s laughter feels like sunshine and Sua’s quiet kindness wraps around her like a blanket. How could she not fall for them when they make her feel so seen, so cared for, so utterly adored? It’s not her fault her heart beats wildly for the two of them; it feels like it was inevitable.

“Hyuna,” Ivan said, his voice carrying a teasing edge as he caught her staring at Mizi and Sua across the room. The two girls were standing close, laughing over something, completely oblivious to Hyuna’s silent, pining gaze. They were at yet another one of Mizi’s infamous parties. Of course, Hyuna had been invited — Mizi always made sure of that — and, unfortunately for her, the rest of their friend group had tagged along too.

“Shut up,” Hyuna grumbled, her words muffled as she dropped her head onto the table, trying to escape Ivan’s knowing smirk. Whether it was the alcohol finally catching up to her or the dangerous spiral of thoughts invading her mind, she wasn’t sure. All she knew was that the mental image of Mizi and Sua — both under her, tangled in her sheets — was one she absolutely shouldn’t be entertaining here.

“I’m surprised Sua even came,” Till hummed, leaning lazily against Ivan, a cup of orange juice in his hand. After the last party Till attended, it had been unanimously agreed that the emo boy shouldn’t be allowed near alcohol ever again. No one was eager for a repeat performance of Till’s infamous coffee table strip show.

“We snuck out,” Ivan replied with a chuckle, his fingers absently patting Till’s head like a contented boyfriend doting on his partner. They looked sickeningly cute together, and it was doing absolutely nothing to help Hyuna with her current predicament. The last thing she needed was to be reminded of how happy and in love her friends were while she spiraled into a pit of feelings for not one, but two girls.

Taking another glance at Sua across the room, Hyuna’s thoughts derailed completely. The tight black dress Sua was wearing hugged every curve, her short bob cut hair framing her face in a way that made her look both fierce and effortlessly sexy. Her smile lit up the room, and the more Hyuna stared, the harder it was to tear her gaze away.

This was torture. Absolute torture.

“Mizi threw a really good party,” Hyuna overheard from a conversation happening nearby. She sat up a little, her curiosity piqued—it was about Mizi, after all. But the next comment that followed made her frown, her attention sharpening despite herself.

“Do you think she would mind a little flirting with her?” someone asked, their voice laced with a tone Hyuna didn’t like.

“If you don’t woman up and confess, Mizi and Sua might both get taken by some useless man,” Till’s voice cut in casually, his words making both Ivan and Hyuna freeze. He took a sip of his juice, clearly unbothered, but his comment left Hyuna staring at him in confusion.

“Mizi and Sua are gay,” Hyuna said slowly, still trying to process what Till had just said. Ivan, equally perplexed, turned his gaze to Till, waiting for some kind of reaction.

Till blinked, his eyes widening as the realization finally dawned on him. “Oh.”

Hyuna couldn’t decide whether to laugh or groan at his delayed response, but either way, it only made her feel even more tangled in her own complicated emotions.

“Doesn’t that mean that you have more chances?” Till asked, still confused by the revelation, but before Hyuna could even attempt to explain herself, she was interrupted. A pair of arms wrapped around her from behind, and a heavy scent of strawberry and rose perfume filled the air, unmistakable and sweet.

Hyuna couldn’t help but smile to herself; it was Mizi, of course.

“Hyuna!” Mizi cheered, her voice upbeat and full of energy as she pulled away to greet her properly. Sua, always the quieter one, took a seat next to Hyuna, flashing her a warm, knowing smile. It was a smile that made Hyuna’s heart race harder than it ever had before. The kind of smile that seemed to make everything around her blur, leaving only Sua’s eyes and that soft, intoxicating look.

Hyuna swore her heart skipped a beat.

The warmth of their presence, the way they both seemed to fill the space around her, was overwhelming. And for a split second, she almost forgot to breathe, her thoughts tangled in the strange, wonderful feeling that only the two of them seemed to stir in her.

God, this was so complicated.

“Hey,” Hyuna greeted, her voice steady, forcing herself to sound cool despite her racing heart. It worked—she’d done it. She was composed.

Mizi’s face lit up even more at her response, her smile so bright it could’ve outshone the party itself. “Are you enjoying the party?” she asked, leaning against Hyuna with that familiar warmth, the scent of strawberries and roses almost overwhelming now. At the same time, Sua, ever the quiet one, casually fed Mizi a cookie, her smile soft and content as she did so.

“I am,” Hyuna hummed, nodding as she tried to keep her composure. But Mizi’s smile only grew, if that was even possible, and before Hyuna could stop her, Mizi hugged her even tighter. The warmth of her body pressed against Hyuna’s was enough to make her heart skip another beat, and she felt her cheeks flush despite herself.

“I got you some snacks,” Sua said with a smile, her voice soft as she placed a plate of various treats in front of Hyuna. As she did, she smacked Ivan’s hand away when he tried to reach for something and told him to "piss off" with a look that was both playful and stern.

“You can’t be drinking all night without eating anything,” Sua scolded Hyuna gently, her tone serious now. “That’s not going to be good for your stomach.” Hyuna blinked, surprised by the sudden shift, but couldn’t help but laugh at the way Sua managed to be both concerned and bossy. It was a side of her that Hyuna rarely saw, but it was undeniably cute.

Hyuna grinned, feeling a little mischievous as she glanced up at Sua. “Thank you, Sua. I know you love me.” She winked, taking a mini cupcake off the plate and started snacking with a satisfied hum, completely oblivious to the effect her teasing had.

However, what Hyuna missed was the way Sua’s face flushed a deep shade of red at the playful remark. Her cheeks turned pinker than usual, and she quickly looked away, her fingers fidgeting slightly with the edges of her dress. The sight didn’t escape Ivan or Till, though. They exchanged knowing looks, a silent communication passing between them as they both watched the subtle but unmistakable shift in Sua’s demeanor.

The night slipped by quickly, the hum of laughter and music fading into the background as Hyuna found herself growing more and more tired. At some point, halfway through a conversation with Mizi about the next party she was planning, Hyuna’s eyelids grew heavy, and before she knew it, she’d fallen asleep in Mizi’s arms.

Mizi froze for a moment, clearly startled by the sudden weight of Hyuna resting against her. But then, her expression softened, and she adjusted herself slightly to make sure Hyuna was comfortable. Her fingers brushed against Hyuna’s hair absentmindedly, and though she tried to play it cool, the faint blush spreading across her cheeks betrayed her.

Across the room, Ivan and Till noticed immediately. They exchanged another one of their infamous knowing glances, the kind that spoke volumes without a single word. It was painfully obvious to them that Mizi’s flushed cheeks had nothing to do with alcohol and everything to do with the girl asleep in her arms.

“I swear, they like you too!” Ivan let out an exasperated sigh, throwing his hands up in frustration. It had been a week since the party, and he and Till hadn’t stopped telling Hyuna that both Mizi and Sua clearly had feelings for her. But bless Hyuna’s stubborn heart—she refused to believe a word they said. And honestly, who could blame her? This was the same couple who once tried to convince her that the moon landing was staged by AI. (Which, obviously, it wasn’t. Right?)

“Stop lying to me,” Hyuna groaned, shaking her head as she took another bite of her burger. The two were currently sitting in a corner booth at their favorite burger joint, waiting for their respective people to finish their extracurricular activities. Hyuna was waiting for Sua to finish her extra classes and Mizi to wrap up cheerleading practice. Ivan, meanwhile, was killing time until Till finished his music club session.

“I think you’re blind,” Ivan grumbled, resting his chin on his hand as he stabbed at his fries. He still looked vaguely offended about being kicked out of the music club for being part of the rugby team, to the point that he could not even wait for Till inside the music room. Social butterfly or not, even Ivan couldn’t charm his way out of that rejection. Now, a little deflated, he’d ended up here with Hyuna for moral support — or perhaps just to rant about her ‘hopeless romantic blindness.’

“Well, at least I’m not the one who got rejected from music club,” Hyuna shot back with a smirk, earning an exaggerated gasp from Ivan.

“That’s low, Hyuna,” he muttered, shaking his head. But his expression softened quickly, and he leaned forward, determination shining in his eyes. “I’m serious, though. Mizi and Sua like you. And you’re an idiot if you can’t see it.”

Hyuna rolled her eyes, her resolve firm, but a small, traitorous blush crept up her neck. She wasn’t ready to let herself believe it — not yet.

“And what makes you say that?” Hyuna sighed, resting her head on her hand, her skepticism practically radiating off her. She tilted her head slightly, giving Ivan a look that screamed disbelief.

Ivan popped a fry into his mouth, chewing dramatically before letting out another exaggerated sigh. “They were blushing,” he said matter-of-factly, as though it were the most obvious thing in the world.

“Blushing?” Hyuna repeated, raising an eyebrow. She leaned back in her seat, crossing her arms as if she’d just caught him trying to sell her some ridiculous conspiracy theory again. “That’s your evidence? Blushing? Ivan, people blush for a million reasons. It doesn’t mean anything.”

Ivan shook his head, leaning forward with an almost infuriating grin. “Not like that, Hyuna. Mizi’s cheeks were practically on fire when you fell asleep in her arms. And Sua? She couldn’t even look at you without turning pink after you called her out for caring about you. You’re telling me that’s normal?”

Hyuna froze for a second, her brain scrambling to come up with a counterargument. She wanted to brush it off, to say Ivan was exaggerating or imagining things. But something about the way he said it — so confident, so sure — made her stomach twist in a way she wasn’t ready to admit.

“You’re imagining things,” she muttered finally, looking down at her burger as if it might save her from this conversation.

“Sure, keep telling yourself that,” Ivan said smugly, leaning back and stealing one of her fries. “But don’t come crying to me when someone else confesses to them first.”

With that comment, Hyuna could only groan internally, wishing with every fiber of her being that Till’s music practice would run late today. The longer Till stayed occupied, the more Ivan would miss him—and the less ‘Till Loving Time,’ as Ivan so proudly called it, Hyuna would have to endure.

“Hyuna!” The voice was cheery, loud, and incredibly sweet. Hyuna’s head snapped up, and her heart skipped a beat as she saw Mizi running toward them, her usual bright energy lighting up the space. Sua followed closely behind, her shy smile softer but no less endearing.

“Oh, Ivan is here too,” Mizi said with a beaming smile before sliding into the seat next to Hyuna. Sua, as though it were the most natural thing in the world, quickly settled into the seat beside Mizi without hesitation.

“Hello to you too,” Ivan muttered, leaning back with a dramatic sigh, his disappointment evident. It didn’t take a genius to figure out why — Till wasn’t with the girls. Ivan had clearly been hoping for his boyfriend to appear and give him a distraction.

Hyuna didn’t even need to look at him to know he was pouting. But she was too busy trying to keep her cool, her mind reeling from how close Mizi was sitting to her — and how Sua’s eyes seemed to flicker toward her before quickly looking away. If Ivan hadn’t been there, Hyuna swore she’d probably combust on the spot.

However, this time, Hyuna didn’t miss it. She didn’t miss the soft pink tint painting Sua’s cheeks so beautifully as she tucked a strand of her bob-cut hair behind her ear, her shy glances toward Hyuna making her heart race. She didn’t miss how Mizi, with her usual radiant energy, kept her hold on Hyuna’s arm, as though letting go wasn’t even an option, while chattering animatedly with Ivan about some upcoming school event.

And she definitely didn’t miss the moment when Mizi grabbed her milkshake without asking, took a sip through the very same straw Hyuna had been using, and then casually handed it over to Sua, who followed suit without a second thought.

An indirect kiss. They both just had an indirect kiss with her. Her.

Hyuna stared at them, her brain short-circuiting as her mind raced. Fuck.

Was what Till and Ivan had been saying real*?* Did she... actually have a chance?

Okay, this time, Hyuna really didn’t know how she got here. One moment, she was blissfully asleep, dreaming about free throws and cookies. The next, she was standing at her front door in her cat pajamas, her hair a tangled mess, staring at Mizi and Sua like a deer caught in headlights.

And holy shit*.*

They weren’t just standing there — they were dressed to perfection. Mizi in a sleek, fitted baby pink dress that seemed to glow in the morning sunlight, and Sua in a soft lavender gown that hugged her figure just right. They looked like they’d walked straight out of a magazine, utterly breathtaking.

Meanwhile, Hyuna was barefoot, clutching her mug of half-finished coffee like a lifeline, with a distinct toothpaste stain on her pajama sleeve. She felt like the epitome of unprepared.

Mizi was the first to break the silence, a small, nervous chuckle escaping her lips as she held out a bouquet of roses toward Hyuna. “Well, asking you to prom is just an excuse…” she admitted, her smile a little sheepish but no less radiant.

“We’re actually here to ask you to be our girlfriend,” Sua finished softly, her voice warm and steady as she stepped closer, her shy smile melting into something so tender it made Hyuna’s heart skip a beat.

Hyuna blinked, then blinked again. She opened her mouth to respond, but no words came out — just a strangled noise somewhere between a gasp and a squeak.

She looked from Mizi to Sua, then down at the bouquet, and back up to their hopeful, slightly nervous faces. Her brain was screaming at her to say something*,* but she was pretty sure all her coherent thoughts had just flown out the window.

Was this real? Was she dreaming? Or had Ivan and Till teamed up to prank her in the most elaborate way possible?

“Um…” she managed to croak out, her cheeks burning hotter than the morning sun. “Give me a second — I need to process this…”

“Mizi, Sua, I look like shit right now,” Hyuna groaned, running a hand through her chaotic bedhead as she stepped aside to let the two girls into the apartment she shared with her brother. Thankfully, Hyunwoo was out at camp for the day, sparing her the embarrassment of him witnessing this surreal moment.

Mizi stepped in first, laughing softly as she placed the bouquet on the small table by the door. “You’re adorable, Hyuna. Cat pajamas and all,” she teased, her grin lighting up the room as effortlessly as ever.

Hyuna rolled her eyes, still mortified by her appearance, and turned to Sua, who had just closed the door behind her. “Seriously, though, I’m not exactly promposal-ready here.”

Sua tilted her head, her shy smile suddenly replaced with a playful glint in her eyes. “Personally, I think I’d want to see this every morning I wake up with you,” she said smoothly, her voice soft but confident.

Hyuna froze, her mouth slightly ajar as the words sank in.

When the hell did Sua get so good at flirting?

Mizi let out a laugh, clearly enjoying the way Hyuna’s face turned a deep shade of red. “I told you she had it in her,” Mizi said, nudging Sua playfully. “And judging by Hyuna’s reaction, I think you nailed it.”

Hyuna groaned again, hiding her face behind her hands. “You two are going to kill me,” she mumbled, though the growing smile tugging at her lips betrayed how much she was enjoying this.

“So…” Mizi prompted, her eyes sparkling with curiosity as she leaned slightly forward, clearly waiting for the answer she knew would come. “What did you say to our promposal?”

Hyuna opened her mouth to respond, but before she could get a word out, Sua cut in, her voice gentle yet filled with anticipation. “I think we want your answer for our confession even more.” Her eyes met Hyuna’s with an intensity that made Hyuna's heart skip a beat.

Hyuna blinked, her mind racing to catch up with the sudden wave of emotions. She let out a breathless chuckle, a soft, nervous laugh escaping her lips as she met both of their gazes. “I hope you two know that my heart beats like crazy for the two of you,” she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. The confession came out so naturally, so honestly, that she couldn't help but smile at herself. “So it would be stupid for me to reject the two of you.”

Mizi and Sua shared a quick, almost triumphant glance, and Hyuna’s heart skipped again.

“Oh, we know,” Mizi nodded with a sly grin, her gaze full of affection. “Till and Ivan have been telling us.”

Hyuna’s eyes widened in realization. “Wait—what?”

Mizi and Sua both burst into soft laughter, the sound warm and full of joy. “Yeah,” Mizi said, giving Hyuna an amused look. “It wasn’t exactly subtle.”

“Damn it, Ivan,” Hyuna muttered under her breath, shaking her head as the full weight of everything settled into place. Damn to the two, maybe Hyuna would strangle them when she sees them again. But as her eyes flicked back to Mizi and Sua, she couldn’t bring herself to be mad.

“Well, I guess that makes this a little easier,” Hyuna said, her voice softer now, a small smile pulling at her lips. “Guess I’m yours, then.”

Sua and Mizi's eyes lit up, and before Hyuna could fully process what was happening, both of them were there, wrapping her up in a warm, loving embrace that sent her heart into overdrive. Their closeness, their tenderness, felt like it could erase every doubt, every moment of confusion she’d ever had.

Then, in perfect synchrony, they both planted a soft, gentle kiss on Hyuna’s cheeks. Hyuna froze for a moment, her world tilting as warmth spread through her, her heart racing faster than it ever had before.

And in that moment, she swore to God — she could see heaven. Or maybe... she was already there.

With her two girlfriends.
