Andrea Sachs sits on her desk at Runway and opens some of the letters that were delivered today with a sharp letter opener.
She has already open three of those letters sind has four more to go. After she read the latest letter, she grabs the next one and opens it.
Suddenly Andy slips and cuts her palm with the letter opener. She hisses when she feels that. She clenches her jaw. It hurts quite a bit but she doesn’t want to scream out loud because she doesn’t want to alert Miranda, who is in her office a few meters away from her.
Luckily, she is able to see blood otherwise she would faint as soon as she sees her bleeding hand and that would be pretty embarrassing to faint in the middle of her workplace.
The first aid kit is somewhere in the kitchen. However, she can't leave her desk, not even for a short time to get the first aid kit from the kitchen.
Emily is currently taking her break with Serena, so Andy can't leave her desk.
The redhead once told her about an assistant who left her desk because she cut her hand and missed an important call from Lagerfeld because she left her desk to treat her wound.
Sachs definitely doesn’t want to get fired just because she leaves her desk. Not because she loves this job so much. She loves Miranda, like she fell in love with her, and could not bear when she doesn’t see the older woman every day.
That's why she couldn't leave in Paris. Even though she thought for a moment to just leave this job and Miranda in the middle of Paris. But she couldn't do it. Her heart couldn't do it.
That means since she is not allowed to leave her desk, she only has a tissue to stop the bleeding. She takes a tissue out of the package and presses it on her bleeding wound.
Andy grits her teeth. That hurts like hell.
It's probably a pretty deep cut because she is bleeding quite heavily. The blood seeps through the tissue.
She hopes that she doesn't bleed all over her desk or the letters that are still lying around on her desk.
Sachs also hopes that Emily will come soon back, so that she can finally treat her injury proberly with the first aid kit. Until then she only had the tissue.
Andy puts the letters to the side with her uninjured hand and is careful that she didn't get any blood on them.
Emily should open the rest of the letters when she is back because Andy is not able to di that with only one hand.
She decides to answer some of the emails because that she can do with one hand. Although it takes longer than usual.
"Andrea!" shouts Miranda for her second assistant.
Andy closes her eyes and curses in her mind. Why does her boss wants her right now while she is bleeding like that? Couldn't she have shouted her name 5 minutes ago, when she hadn’t cut her hand? Apparently not.
She has no other choice than to go to Miranda and see what she wants from her.
She gets up from her chair and walks into Miranda’s office.
"Yes, Miranda?" asks Andy as she enters the office. She tries to hide her hand but Miranda still can see it.
The older woman lifts her head up and directly sees Andy’s bloody hand. "What happened to your hand?" asks Miranda and can not hide the worry in her voice.
Why does her Andrea have a bloody hand.
"Oh, this. It's nothing", lies Andy and at her hand. She hopes that Miranda will believe her that it’s nothing.
But of course, her boss won't believe her that.
"It doesn’t look like nothing, Andrea", says the white hair woman firmly.
She demands to know what exactly happened to Andrea's hand.
She gets up from her chair and walks around her desk. She walks over to where Andy is still standing, who holds her breath as Miranda approaches her and waits for her next step.
But this next step will totally surprise Andy. Miranda gently grabs Andy’s injured hand to take a closer look. She sighs when she the blood red tissue on her palm.
"Stay here", says she firmly and quicky goes to the kitchen to get the first aid kit.
The Editor-In-Chief returns to her office with the orange first aid kit in her hands, which she puts on her desk and opens it.
Priestly turns to Andrea and carefully pulls the bloody tissue away from her hand and throws it into the bin.
Andy hisses when Miranda removes the tissue.
She turns back to the first aid kit and grabs a bandage. She rips it open and takes the clean and white bandage out of the package and wraps it around Andy’s still bloody hand.
Andy’s heart skips a beat as she watches how carefully the woman she is in love with takes care of her and her wound.
"We should go to the hospital", says Miranda after she fixes the bandage. She is pretty sure this wound needs to have some stitches.
'We?' thinks Andy completely confused. Did she hear that right? Miranda wants to go with her to the hospital.
"We?" asks the younger woman confused her question out loud.
When Miranda hears the question she looks at Andrea like she gross a second head. "Of course, we, Andrea. Did you really think I would send you to the hospital alone while you are bleeding like that?" asks Priestly and raises an eyebrow at her assistant.
Besides, she doesn’t trust Andy to go to the hospital herself. At least not while she still has to work and it is better when she treats her bleeding wound as soon as possible.
Miranda takes her phone and writes Roy that he should come immediately to the Elias-Clarke building.
"Come on, Andrea. Roy will be here soon", says Miranda and puts her phone into her purse.
"Yes, Miranda", says Andy.
She knows it would be pointless to disagree with Miranda because she is pretty determined and Andy would definitely save her breath when she doesn’t say anything.
The two leave the office and Andy grabs her own purse with her uninjured hand.
They walk to the elevator and Miranda pushes the button to call it. A short time later the elevator arrives and they enter it. Actually, no one is allowed to share a elevator ride with Miranda but Andrea is the exception.
They spend the ride in silence.
When the elevator arrives at the ground floor they leave it and walk out of the building.
The town car is already there.
Miranda opens the door for Andy, who climbs into the car without saying a word. After Andrea is inside, Miranda follows her and shuts the door behind herself.
"To the next hospital, Roy", says Miranda firmly.
"Yes, Miranda", replies Roy and starts driving.
"Will you finally tell me what exactly happened to your hand, Andrea?" asks Priestly as they drive to the Emergency Room.
The younger woman knows that there is no way out without telling the truth. "I cut my hand on a letter opener while I was opening the letters", confesses the assistant.
Miranda already thought that something like this happened. But there is still one question open.
"And why didn't you treat it correctly or went to the hospital yourself?" asks she the question that she still has.
Why didn't Andrea grab the first aid kit herself as soon as she cut herself? She knew where it was, so why didn't she get it? Instead she just sat on her desk and used a stupid tissue to stop the bleeding.
"Well, Emily said I should never leave my desk. She told me that on my very first day at Runway. Because the last time an assistant left her desk because she injured herself on a letter opener and you missed a very important call."
Miranda can't help but roll with her eyes. Of course, it was Emily who said something to Andrea.
She opens her mouth to say something but Andy beats her to it. "I didn't want to get fired because of leaving my desk to go into the kitchen and treat my hand", adds Andy and looks at her injured hand.
"Oh, you silly girl. Don't you see that you are different than the others", whispers Miranda but loud enough for Andy to hear her and lays a hand on Andy’s thigh. She would rather hold her hand but it's the injured one, so she puts her hand on the thigh instead.
Miranda would have never fired Andrea and definitely not for something like that. Or for anything else because she couldn't bear it when she fires her and wouldn’t see her every day at work.
She knew that Andrea almost left her in Paris. She was so relieved that she decided against it. However, she never told Andrea anything about it.
Miranda fell in love with her assistant and that’s why she couldn't bear the thouht that she leaves her.
She decides that now is the right time to tell her the truth and what she feels for Andrea.
The white hair woman takes a deep breath before she pours her heart out. "I see you as more than my assistant and I would never fire you for leaving your desk to treat your injury or fire at all. I have feelings for you, Andrea. I fell in love with you", says Miranda and her heart is pounding like crazy while she for a reaction from the other woman.
Andy didn't expect Miranda to confess her love. She feels like she is dreaming. Maybe she fainted because of the blood loss and is only dreaming the whole thing.
"You love me?" asks Sachs like she can't believe it.
"Yes, I do. I love you, Andrea", says Miranda honestly and puts her hand on Andy’s cheek.
"I love you too, Miranda", replies Andy and leans into the touch.
Priestly has a bright smile on her face. She is so happy that Andrea returns her feelings.
She leans over and kisses Andrea on the lips. Andy smiles into the kiss and immediately returns it.
They kiss until Andy winces because she moves her injured hand.
The new couple breaks their kiss and Miranda looks worried to her girlfriend. The younger woman smiles and assures her girlfriend that she is okay.
A short time later they arrive at the hospital.
Roy parks the car in front of the Emergency Room, so that they don’t have to walk far.
"We are here. I'll park the car somewhere and wait for you", says he and looks into the rearview mirror.
"Thank you, Roy", says Miranda and climbs out of the car.
She quickly walks around the car to help her girlfriend out of the car.
The two of them walk into the Emergency Room and straight to front desk.
"My girlfriend cut herself with a letter opener", says the Editor-In-Chief to the nurse, who works something on the computer, and points at Andrea's bandage hand.
Andy’s heart skips a beat when Miranda calls her her girlfriend. She could get used to it.
The nurse looks up from her computer and pales a little when she sees who stands in front of her. She knows exactly who this is and how famous and important she is.
"I will get a doctor right away", says she and gets up from her chair to get a doctor.
The couple doesn't have to wait long for her to return. "Dr. Miller is ready for you in Room 2", says the nurse after coming back.
Miranda and Andy walk to the room, where Dr. Miller is already waiting for them.
Miller tells Andy to sit on the exam table, which she does.
The doctor snaps on some light blue rubber gloves. She takes the bandage off to look at the wound. After she took the bloody bandage off she throws it into the trash. Luckily, the bleeding already stopped.
"That needs stichtes", says the doctor after she took a closer look at Andy’s cut.
Dr. Miller first cleans the wound up before she gets the needle ready to numble the area.
Andy pales when she sees the needle. She doesn't like needles at all. But she knows it’s necessary.
She hisses when she moves her hand again.
Miranda hates to see Andrea in pain. She wishes she could take it away from her. But unfortunately, it's not possible.
However, she knows what she can do. She grabs Andrea's uninjured hand. "Hold my hand and squeeze it when it hurts", says the white hair woman.
Andy smiles weakly at her girlfriend and squeezes her hand as she feels the needle piercing through her skin right next to her cut.
Miranda gives her girlfriend a kiss on the cheek.
The brunette woman looks away from her hand. She can't even watch her hand being stitched. She just looks at her girlfriend.
When the doctor is finished stitching up Andy’s hand, she wraps it in a bandage, which she should change daily.
Andy needs to return to the hospital in a few days, so the doctor can pull her stitches out.
Roy drives them back to Runway.
"We take the rest of our things at Runway and then we go to the townhouse because you can't continue working with your hand", says Miranda out of nowhere.
"But what about your work?" asks Andy.
"You are way more important than my work", says the white hair woman.
Besides, Miranda doesn't think that she can fully focus on her work because Andrea would always be in her mind.
Andy doesn't try to change Miranda’s mind. She just leans over and gives her girlfriend a kiss on the cheek.
"Thank you", whispers she against the soft skin of Miranda’s cheek.
Roy parks in front of the Elias-Clarke building.
"Could you wait here, Roy? We are right back", says Miranda.
"Of course", says the driver.
The couple climbs out of the car and walks into the building.
They take the elevator to the Runway floor.
When they arrive at their floor, Andy is the one who leaves it first.
"Where the hell where you, you stupid cow?! I told you not to leave your freaking desk!" screams Emily like a hysterical woman as she sees Andy coming from the elevator.
Andy is shocked that Emily screams at her like that and takes a step back. She doesn't eveb have the chance to explain herself because the redhead wasn't finished yet.
"And I told you what happened the last time a incompetent assistant left her desk because she cut her hand. Or did you forget?" hisses Emily and takes a step closer to Andy.
The brunette woman doesn't want to admit it but she is scared of her.
"Emily, there is no reason to shout at Andrea", says Miranda in a very cold voice.
She doesn't like it at all that Emily shouts at her girlfriend. Who does her assistant think she is that she thinks she has the right to scream at her Andrea like that.
The redhead pales like a white wall. She didn't see that Miranda also stands there because she was too focus on Andy.
"Miranda, I...", tries Emily to explain herself but Miranda doesn't let her.
"I don't want to hear another word from you or you are fired", threatens Priestly.
Even though Emily is a good assistant she is on very thin ice right now. Nobody is allowed to talk to Andrea like that.
"Cancel all my appointments for today because I will go home with Andrea. Do you think you can do it?" asks Miranda and raises an eyebrow at her assistant.
Emily only nods because she is scared to say something.
Without saying more the Editor-In-Chief goes into her office to get her things while Andy goes to her desk to get hers.
When both of them have everything they go back to the elevator to ride down to the ground floor.
