Chapter 2
Izuku screamed in pain as his body felt like it was being torn apart. He woke to the pain and was still buried under the building. He could feel something inside himself and then his body began to change and grow. He let out another agonizing scream as he shoved to his feet. He was now on four feet, he could feel a heavy weight on his back as he looked around. The zero pointer was still moving, it shouldn't be, it should have stopped. He reached out and took the bot in his.. Mouth? And bit down, severing it in half and tossing the piece in his mouth and spit it out across the city. He turned his head and his eyes widened as he saw himself in the window of a building. He was huge!! And a fucking dragon! How the fuck? He didn't know, but as the buzzer sounded he felt the adrenaline drain from him as his vision swam and he blacked out, falling to the ground and returning to human form, but now he had obsidian scales in his cheek bones, down his spine and in spots on his arms. He had talons on his hands and if you looked in his mouth fangs.. That wasn't even the best part, on his back was a pair of dragon wings, bloody from ripping through his back. He'd be freaking out about this if he'd been awake, but sadly he lay still on the filthy ground of the exam site.
The staff was on their feet and about to run to the fake city when sound came through the speakers. Then the screens seemed to go black before switching to night vision. The sound was that of a horrible pain filled scream that turned into a roar. Shouta watched with wide eyes as the shadows, because that's what it was, seemed to be pulled into the rubble his love was buried under. As they watched, the rubble seemed to shake and then it blew apart, and a massive shadow beast stood there.
They watched in awe and horror as the shadow dragon destroyed the zero pointer. The buzzer for the end of the exam sounded and the shadows seemed to disburse and Izuku laid on the ground unconscious. “What.. What the fuck?!” Shouta asked, his voice cracking as he spoke.
Yagi watched the stupid null activate a quirk, one he should not have and felt anger fill his chest. There was only one way for that to happen, it must have gone to All for One and gotten a quirk. He would have to tell his successor about this villain. Make sure he didn't get away with this.
“That was a stress manifested activation of a quirk.” Nedzu informed his staff, “Izuku Midoriya must have died for a moment under the rubble for that quirk to manifest.. Shouta, go to him. He'll need you when he wakes up.”
Shouta nodded before he took off out of the room. The rest of the staff headed out as well, they'd need to be back the next day to figure out scores and who was going into what class as well as the dorm assignments. Yagi looked at the mammal, “Nedzu, that boy.” he said, his voice dark, “I believe he is in cahoots with villains. No one manifests such a powerful quirk like that.”
Nedzu looked at the blonde like he was an idiot, “Yagi, that boy isn't a villain and you will not treat him as such. I may not be able to fire you, but I can make your life miserable while you are here. Leave Izuku alone.” he said before he turned and left the room. He would need to make sure Izuku was safe while in the school.
Izuku groaned as he slowly came awake, he felt like he'd been hit by a truck. He lifted his hand and rubbed at his face, only to stop and open his eyes. He was wearing gloves, for some reason, and his vision seemed to be sharper than it should be. Then his memories came back to him. “I.. I turned into a fucking dragon?”
There was a soft chuckle beside him, “That you did, maybe I should stop calling you, Bunny.” Shouta said. “You scared the shit outta me, Bunny. You died under that rubble and forced a quirk to manifest. What the hell was going on down there?” He'd been so terrified when he arrived in the infirmary and izuku laid lifeless on the bed.
Izuku turned and looked at the man and gave him a soft small smile. “I'm sorry, pretty Raven. I didn't mean to scare you.” he licked his lips and allowed Shouta to grab a glass of water and help him drink it. “So, the explosive blonde is Katsuki Bakugou.. He was my bully most of my life until I finally left the first year of highschool. He hates me because I'm quirkless.”
Shouta frowned, “Okay, so he’s the one that left the scars on your back and chest?” he growled when the other nodded as he took another sip of water. “Okay, sadly he was the second highest scorer for the exams, but Nedzu wants you as his personal student so you won't have to interact with him too much.” He leaned over and kissed Izuku’s forehead. “What about the other two? They kept attacking you and making it look like an accident.”
Izuku closed his eyes and a soft purring sound came from his chest, “Well that's new.” he mumbled softly, “I think they’re part of the hate group that found me last night.. But I have no idea how they knew I'd be at the exams, or how they got in here to attack me like that.”
Shouta felt his cheeks heat when he heard the purring sound from his partner. “Oh, I definitely like that.” he smirked as he saw Izuku blush. “You’re damn lucky to be okay, and now I'm not letting you outta my sight for the next month at least.”
Izuku couldn't help but giggle softly, “I think I can handle that, as long as you keep doing all the sexy things you do so well when you have eyes on me.”
The sound of a cane on the floor was heard as Recovery Girl came into the room. “Now, now. That's enough from you two. No fooling around like school boys in my infirmary.” she scolded them as she checked Izuku over. “You’ll need quirk counseling before the beginning of the year, young man. But I have a feeling Shouta will help take care of that, same with Hizashi. Now, you’re all healed up, I think you two can head home. Just take it easy. No training, and no funny business for at least the weekend.”
Izuku blushed and nodded to the woman, “Thank you Recovery girl. I appreciate the help.”
“Of course Chiyo, I'll be taking him to my apartment this weekend so I can make sure he rests properly and doesn't overwork himself.” Shouta smiled as he stood and stretched, he’d been sitting beside Izuku's bed for several hours. “Though, you’re going to have to go shopping this weekend now.”
Izuku tilted his head confused as he sat up in the bed, only to feel a heavy weight on his back. He looked over his shoulder and his eyes widened in awe. He moved and extended his wings to look at them. “Oh…oh wow!” he said softly.
Shouta couldn't help the laugh that escaped him, “They’re beautiful. It's gonna take some time to get used to them though.” Izuku nodded as he folded his wings again and turned to look at him with a sappy smile, tears filling his eyes and falling. He’d never thought he'd get a quirk, and now he had one that was overpowered.
“Come on, Bunny, let's get out of here. I'm sure your cousin in law will help you with your wings.” he reached over and helped Izuku to stand, steadying him on his feet when he became somewhat dizzy. Once the younger man was steady on his feet, Shouta draped a large jacket over him to cover his torso. His own shirt had torn to shreds when he’d transformed to save himself.
Izuku and Shouta slowly left the school after that and headed home. It didn't take them long to get back to the man's apartment and get inside. Izuku was quick to go sit on the couch, he looked at his hands, he now had sharp as razor talons. He was a little bit afraid to look in the mirror and see himself.
Shouta went into the kitchen and started making some tea for the younger man. He needed something to calm himself down, and coffee would just make him more anxious. Yes, his Bunny was a sweet ball of anxiety when new things happened. As the tea steeped he went to their bedroom and grabbed the fluffy, custom made, Eraserhead blanket his love was so fond of. Once he had that, he walked over and draped it over Izuku’s shoulders before he knelt down and took his hands in his own. He looked at him in the eyes as he spoke. “Bunny, I love you so damn much. You’re beautiful no matter what form you have, okay? Just because you have this quirk now doesn't make you more or less.” then he smirked, “though, I have to admit, these scales you’ve got going on, are pretty damn sexy.”
Izuku blinked and looked up at Shouta, his beautiful eyes were so sincere and he couldn't help but believe him. Then he was blushing, and his scales tinted pink where the light hit them. “Thank you, Raven.. Fuck, this is all so damn fucked up.” he said before he put his forehead against Shouta’s. “Thank you for being here with me. I don't know what my life would be like without you.”
Shouta chuckled. “It would be just boring hanging out at the cafe and working too hard being the big brained nerd I know and love.” he kissed his nose, “Now, I'm going to get you some tea, and then you can go shower and get clean. After that, we’ll cuddle up and watch some old movies.”
Izuku chuckled and kissed him gently and nodded, “That sounds amazing.” he purred softly before Shouta moved away and got up. He didn't think he could love that man anymore than he had, but today proved him wrong. He was so in love.
Izuku and Shouta spent the night cuddled up together that night. Izuku happily snuggled with the man. The next day Keigo showed up to the apartment and kidnapped Izuku. The two of them needed to go shopping, and Izuku just cut holes in a shirt he had at Shouta’s. Now he was being dragged by an overexcited avian man.
“Stop being a party pooper Izuku! I promise we can get some nuggies and shit afterwards, but you need clothes.” Keigo sighed as he looked at the man. “You know you like shopping, plus I'm gonna teach you how to use those wings of yours.”
Izuku nodded, “I know, Kei, but I'm still tired and sore from yesterday. My wings hurt my back at the connection site. I’ve also cut myself a few times with these stupid talons.” he grumbled, and he knew he was pouting. “It just feels really weird.”
Keigo nodded, “Of course you have, gotta keep the gloves on for now until you learn to be more careful. Don't worry, you’ll get used to the weight of them quickly, couple days at most. Your muscles just need to work themselves a bit to strengthen.”
He huffed and nodded as he followed the man. He felt so strange being out in public now. He could smell and hear and see so much more than he wanted to. Every shadow they passed felt like it was calling out to him, and everytime it did, he felt his mind run in circles as he analyzed himself. Shouta told him that Nedzu was bringing in a specialist so they could find out at least the basics of his new quirk. He shook his head as they walked into a specialty store for those with mutations. He looked around curiously, he’d never gone shopping with Keigo before. Not when it was for the avian himself. They made it to the sections he needed and he began to look around, they were shopping on the Commission's dime and he was gonna happily spend a shit ton of it.
“Oo, Zuzu! Look at this!” Keigo called out and Izuku looked up, his head tilted as he walked over and grinned, in the avian's hand was a nice soft leather jacket. It had deep green stitching on it to accent the dark leather, the holes in the back had some sort of padding to them.
“Oh I like that.” he mused as he felt the leather. It was soft as fuck and he might never take it off once he put it on. “They don't have any shirts with sayings on them.” he pouted
Keigo laughed and ruffled Izuku’s hair, “That's because only you wanna wear shirts that say pants and stuff like that.”
Izuku stuck his tongue out at the man with a pout on his face as he went to look for more stuff. He needed an entirely new wardrobe according to everyone who knew him. He found a bunch of things he liked, as well as a few corset vests he fell in love with and knew would make his love drool when he saw him in them. They spent a while shopping and Keigo teased him constantly while they did because of course he did. By lunchtime Izuku just wanted to go home again.
The two of them made it to the food court and Izuku sat down with a groan. He was just so tired. “Stay put, I'll go get us some noms.” Keigo said before he ruffled Izuku’s hair and went to go get food. Izuku huffed and pulled out his phone to check his messages. Why’d he agree to this again? Oh yeah, he didn't, he was bullied into it. It was a little while later that Keigo came back with food for them. Izuku felt his mouth water as the smell of it filled his nose. Fuck it smelled amazing.
“Oh my kami!! It's hawks! Youre so cool!” a small childlike voice exclaimed as Izuku looked towards a young boy who was wearing the hero's merch.
Keigo turned and gave the kid a bright smile. “That's right, eyas, but we gotta keep it down okay? We don't want villains to find out I'm here.”
The boy nodded like a bobble head, his voice lower when he spoke next, “You’re such a cool hero! Do you think I could be one just like you? I just have a useless jumping quirk. I can jump really far or high, but it's nothing like you.” The kid looked a little sad, and Izuku stiffened at the question and the word useless.
Keigo knelt down in front of the boy and smiled, “Kiddo, no quirk is useless, even people with no quirk. I'm sure if you work really hard in school, and put some training into your body so you're not just noodle arms, you could be a hero even greater than I am.”
The boy seemed to brighten, his eyes shining with tears before he moved forward and hugged the hero for just a moment. “Thank you Hawks!” he said happily before turning to look at Izuku. “Oh wow! You’re so cool too!” The boy said before he heard his mother call for him and turned and took off leaving Izuku in a daze for the rest of the afternoon he was in the mall.
When Izuku made it back to Shouta's apartment he was ready to cry. He walked in and kicked off his shoes before he went right to his partner and sat on his lap before burying his face in the man's shoulder and neck.
Shouta frowned when his love shoved his face in his neck and seemed to shake. He rubbed Izuku's back soothingly as he held him close, “What's wrong bunny? Did Keigo say something? Who do I need to kill?”
Izuku giggled wetly at the man's words and shook his head, “No, no murder Shou, I.. a little boy in the mall.. He..” he took a deep breath, “he said I was really cool! No one.. other than you and the others have ever said that to me before.” he let the tears fall, they were happy tears, but at the same time sad, sad for his lost childhood. They stayed like that for a while, Shouta soothing Izuku and whispering sweet praise at the man. Knowing he needed comfort and support. If he ever found the child, he would give him a medal or something for it. A small thing made so much difference in a person's life.
