Most of the castle was enjoying the Halloween feast. However, Regulus had excused himself. He would probably not be missed by the people he hang out with no matter if he said something or not. It wasn’t like he had friends the way his brother had. Well, disowned brother, but Regulus still counted Siirus as his brother in his mind even though he didn’t show it. He just couldn’t be as loud and provocative as his brother was and his housemates wouldn’t want to see him talking to Gryffindors. Also, if he stayed under the radar nothing could get back to his parents. If he just stayed quiet and polite to the right people it wouldn't be that bad back at home. And things at home always were better if he stayed quiet. So, that's what he did and that's how everyone knew him.
Everyone but Regulus himself recently. Things have been changing this schoolyear for Regulus. He had found a room on the seventh floor at the start of the schoolyear, with doors that he had never seen before. The first time he opened those doors, he saw a clear and peaceful room with a cough and a few books in the middle of the room. The books helped him calm down a bit, which was nice and gave him a reason to go back to the room. It did take some time before he could find the room again. He had been thinking about it and searched information about this room, but he couldn't find much on it. That's why it took a few weeks before he got the right idea of how he could access the room. To make the room even more unexplainable, this second time the room had looked differently. Next tot he couch, there stood a music stand, a piano and a harp. The piano reminded him of home before Sirius went to Hogwarts. Regulus thought back to the courses in classical music that they had to follow together, one fo the fondest memories of his childhood. He had walked toward the paino and sat in front of it. Why it was in this room wasn't entirely clear, but Regulus couldn't resist to play a bit on the piano. He had to get used to it again, but it felt good and he slowly started to hum along to the tune that he played. It released some of the tension that he felt that day. He had come back to the room a few times since then, because why wouldn't he if he could somehow be himself in this room.
Which was also where he was heading to after dinner. It felt good to let feelings out by playing music and he could use that today, so he entered the room again. This time he looked at the music stand. The song that was visible on the stand was one of his favorite songs when he was younger. Intrigued, he took the music sheet and looked at it. The lyrics was also written on it. Maybe it was worth trying to sing it now no one could hear him? While he wasn't sure yet, Regulus did start to play the familiar tune on the paino. After a few times he decided to do sign along with the sound of the piano. Unconsciously he started singing louder. Suprisingly it felt good to do so. It felt like he was free and like he could, if only for a moment, do and say whatever he wanted.
