A Pinch of History and talking Heads
Personal Histories:
Albus:
After he cast a Memory Charm on the whole Dursley family to make them utterly forget Harry since they had managed to make such a bungle of things. Leaving the Muggle family, who had finally gotten their wish to be away from Magic, Albus returned to his office at Hogwarts. Since he had told everyone that he was Harry's Magical Guardian and with no other family Albus had taken possession of the Potter Family House Elves. Summoning one of the nasty creatures to his office he directed it to find where Harry was and bring him back at once. He expected the Elf to be gone for maybe an hour but when it finally returned, two hours later, it shared the news that somehow Harry was nowhere to be found on the Earth. There was some good news as the nasty thing told Albus that it had managed to get a hold of Harry's documents, from the Department of Life and Death, and found out his weapon was still alive.
Albus reconded the boy had just slipped into a Magical Coma due to whatever wild magic he had used to get away from the Dursleys making it hard for even a House Elf to find him. Leaving standing orders to the same Elf to bring Harry back when he could detect him again Albus went back to running the school. Having plans to give the brat test to make sure he was ready for when Voldemort returned Albus knew he would need to be able to tweak the Hogwarts Wards when he needed to. A week before the school year started after Harry's disappearance Albus put on a show as he went to make sure the Wards were at full strength, knowing that when he got word of Harry's return he could weaken the Wards to bring in things to test the brat. When he was not running the school, or attending meetings for the Wizengamot and the ICW Albus was trying to find a new place to send Harry to live. He knew that beside Sirius Black the Potters had chosen Alice Longbottom as Harry's Godparent, but Dowager Longbottom was already making sure the other possible boy from the Prophecy was brought up "right." He knew that Severus would be a good choice to make sure Harry was beaten down, and since the Potion Master had magic it would be harder for Harry to run away from him. The only problem was he did not think Severus would take the brat in. For a moment he considered his younger brother Aberforth, but the man was busy running the Hog's Head and gathering info for him. None of Potter's other friends would do either for they would actually care for the boy thus messing with his plans.
It was a moot point anyway until the brat showed up and as the time for Harry to attend Hogwarts arrived with no sign of the boy he had to change his plan. Having heard stories of Voldemort gaining strength he thought he would lure Riddle to Hogwarts with the Philosopher's Stone as one of the few things to allow the man to gain a body. But with still no sign of Harry at all, that must be one powerful Magical Coma, Albus changed his plans. Contacting Nicolas and telling him about Voldemort getting stronger he offered to protect the stone for a bit as Nicolas increased his own protection to his Masterpiece. No longer having to use it as a test for his missing Weapon Albus did not turn to his staff to help guard it but kept it on his person until Nicolas had better prepared himself. He was shocked a week later when Nicolas wrote to inform him that rather than further protect the stone he had used the time Albus had looked after it to create something that would destroy the artifact. Albus had wished he had used the stone when he had the chance to increase his already vast fortunes but too late now.
Also since Harry had not arrived Albus decided to watch the First-Year students to see if he could discover if any of them would make good "friends" for the boy when he finally was found. Albus did find several good prospects in all but the students in Slytherin House in case Harry was sorted into one of them. During the next couple of years, he meets with them all but found only one set was able to be molded to his purpose making him use the Elder Wand to make sure that when Harry arrives he would be sent to Gryffindor. Albus passed on the tales that Harry was busy training, which was why he was not at Hogwarts, but once he arrived the students he had chosen would be the best people to be his friends. Saying their relaxed attitudes would be just what Harry would need after training so long. He could tell that the pair believed him, the fools, and would help look out for Harry in case the nasty Elves missed him and the boy arrived without Albus being told about it.
As he did not need to give Harry any test Albus kept the Hogwarts' Wards at full power. At least until what would have been Harry's Fourth Year due to the Triwizard Tournament. To bring the right amount of challenges to whoever became the Champions Albus was forced to reduce the power of the Wards by at least half of their normal strength. This would have been the perfect year for Harry to arrive for he could have told the lie about having to place an Age Line even though he knew the Goblet of Fire would only accept a Champion who had control of their Magic, which usually meant someone who was of age but also had access to a great deal of Magic. This meant that if say the Weasley Twins who would be of age around the right time put their names in the cup would never choose them for they did not have the right amount of magic. In fact, he would only have put an Age Line in place if Harry had been at the school for he would make sure Harry was chosen as a Champion thus making the school turn against him for breaking the rules.
Tony & Bonecrusher:
Tony did not like the Headmaster of Hogwarts just like all the Potter-Gryffindor-Peverell House Elves knowing the man was responsible for hiding the last living member of their family from them. Being the one who called up the man's office Tony actually smiled to hear that his Young Master had gotten away from the man. Being "ordered" to find and bring the young Master to the man he had other plans. Leaving Hogwarts Tony tuned into his Magic to find the young Master but was unable to locate him anywhere in the world. Though it would be devastating to think of the young boy being dead it also brought up a unique opportunity. Tony popped into the office of his Human's family's Goblin's Account Manager. "Elf what is the purpose of your visit here?" Bonecrusher asked.
"Master Bonecrusher I am an Elf of the house Potter-Gryffindor-Peverell and I have come with some news," Tony said before sharing his inability to find his Young Master and his "order" from the Headmaster.
Bonecrusher steepled his fingers a small smile spreading across his face. All the Goblins knew that despite what the man stated Albus Dumbledore was not the Magical Guardian that the Potter's had chosen in case of their death. With this bit of news, it would allow the Goblins to oust the man from his illegal position and put the man James and Lily had really selected in place. Not only that it would allow them to unseal the Potters' Wills that had been closed since Albus had blocked them, thankfully without looking at them himself.
With a single signature Bonecrusher ousted Dumbles from his position as well as blocking him for the Vaults he was in charge of looking after, as well as recalling all the keys to said vaults. As Bonecrusher called for the Wills he had Tony check out the Gringotts record rooms which like the Ministry Department of Life and Death would have information on if Harry Potter was dead. As Bonecrusher reacquaint himself with the Potters' Will he was able to find out the person they had selected as Harry's real Magical Guardian and contacted him.
Bonecrusher had barely called for the real Guardian before Tony returned with the news that according to the records Harry while missing was still alive. As the Wills had included an information packet for whoever took charge of Harry had included the old test Harry had taken Bonecrusher guessed what had happened. Bonecrusher did not explain what had happened until the real Guardian had arrived before telling both Tony and Remus Lupin about Harry's Magical Skills. "Now if I am to guess that to protect himself or for some other reason Heir Potter-Gryffindor-Peverell activated a Magical talent that was listed as Realm Walking," Bonecrusher stated.
"What does that mean?" Remus Lupin asked having never come across the term before.
"Well doing some research in our Forbidden Archives out Master Archivist found that there had been only one other who had the talent, and according to that person Realm Walking allows one to traverse between different realities," Bonecrusher explained.
"So the Young Master is lost to us?" Tony asked.
"I can not say, but I can only guess Heir Potter-Gryffindor-Peverell used the skill to get to safety and will one day return though when that is I can not say. So until such a time, he returns Messer Lupin the House is in your hands, though I will only allow you to take out the monetary allowance that the Potters stated in their Wills."
"That is alright Master Goblin I do not need that much," Remus said having gotten used to not having lots of money at his disposal.
"Alright then from today onward you will be Steward Potter-Gryffindor-Peverell and I suggest you read through the wills completely,' Bonecrusher suggested as Tony Apparated Remus to the property Remus had been left in the Will.
Remus Lupin:
As soon as the House Elf had taken him to the Gryffindor Cabin Remus had the Elf bring in the rest of his old friends' contingent of Houses Elves to the place. Meeting with them all and memorizing their names he told them his new role in regards to the House they followed. Remus shared with them, with some help from Tony, about what had happened to Harry. "Now I can mostly take care of myself but knowing your kind needs to take care of Magicals I will not say no to any little bit of cleaning, especially after a full moon. I do have one overriding order for you all,' he said looking at the group of seventeen House Elves. "Since according to Bonecrusher Harry might be traveling the Multiverse I want anyone who finds a trace of Harry to bring him here if you can. I would also like any volunteers to head back to Hogwarts and keep tabs on Dumbles since it seemed he had been the one to have taken Harry away and put him somewhere." It did not surprise Remus when every single House Elf offered to do it with Tony being chosen as their spokesman and new Head Elf.
As all but one Elf headed back to Hogwarts to start spying on Dumbles, the one Elf staying to start a simple meal for Remus he began to read James and Lily's Wills. He was astonished to find out that it had not been Sirius who had been their Secret Keeper but Peter. Letting the Elf, Ben, know that he was going out Remus headed to the Ministry to see an old friend. Arriving at Amelia Bones' office he shared with James and Sirius' old boss and share with her about becoming Harry's new Magical Guardian. Refusing to answer the reason for the change he brought out the Wills and showed her the part dealing with their Secret Keeper. She had been so surprised her monocle had fallen out of her eye and had cast a spell to test the validity of the documents before using her position of Head of the Magical Law Enforcement to schedule a trial for Sirius.
A few days later Remus was informed that Sirius had been retried, and while he was not free of Azkaban his sentence had been reduced from a life sentence to getting out when Harry would be twelve years old. Since that was a few years away and Remus could not do much without Harry returning from where he was Remus did what he did best, research. Going through multiple books on Magicals with powerful, yet rare, Magical Skills Remus began to take notes on them. Moving past historical sources he moved on to more current books deciding to check out the books from Gilderoy Lockhart, due to the man's accomplishments. Starting with Wandering with Werewolf he began to wonder, having never read any of the man's books before if this book was a spoof. For out of almost four hundred pages over three hundred of them were about the man himself. And the pages dealing with Werewolves were just rubbish as the man claimed to cure a case of the lycanthropic curse. Remus stopped on one page as he read a case which he knew about. The case in question he had heard Sirius and James discussing a fellow Auror taking care of and he was rather sure Lockhart was no Auror.
Moving on to the other books that the man had produced and began to go over them. Well, the first book was no spoof the man did really waste a lot of his pages on himself while the "heroics" he performed Remus began to recognize the man as a fraud. Remus began to take notes on all the inconsistencies he had found in the books, including one that he was surprised no one had not found before. For even without knowledge of the cases from the Aurors or normal law officers there was in one book where the man told of his some of his "heroics" acts two of them happened on the same day at complete opposite sides of the Earth, and even with the best Magical forms of travel it would be impossible to pull off.
Remus knew he was just wasting his time with the Lockhart stuff but it did give him something to do while he waited for Sirius to get out or Harry to come back from where ever he was. Having no idea where Harry was, though knowing he was alive, Remus still celebrated the boy's birthday. On Harry's Eighth birthday Tony appeared to let him know Harry had returned. Remus jumped to his feet and allowed the Elf to take him to the boy wanting to make sure he was already having been missing three years Merlin knew where. As Remus meets Harry for the first time in almost seven and a half years he was amazed at how mature he was.
"Who are you?" Harry asked.
"My name is Remus Lupin I was a friend of your parents and was named you Magical Guardian," Remus said introducing himself.
"Where were you when I was younger than?" Harry asked raising his hands as if to cast some spell.
"I was only made aware of my role after you left this realm. I have been waiting for your return," Remus said.
"Okay," Harry said lowering his arms. "I came back to start going to the Magical Schools here," Harry stated as if just letting Remus know it and that the man had no choice in the matter.
"Um, the school does not start until one is eleven years old," Remus told him.
"I was not talking about Hogwarts. I was going to start with Mahoutokoro and go from there to everywhere else," Harry said in the same tone of voice.
"Why?" Remus asked.
"So I can see how each school goes about teaching Magic and get a better understanding of it," Harry answered.
"If this is your choice, and you seem not to be talked away from it. Plus with all the Magic abilities I am pretty sure I could not stop you. I would suggest you go by something other than Harry Potter for you are quite famous for stopping the Dark Wizard Lord Voldemort," Remus suggested.
Harry tilted his head as if weighing the suggestion before nodding. "Good idea I think I will just use my first and last initials," Harry said and without further to do vanished from sight.
Remus saw Harry sporadically over the years when the young Magical would randomly show up such as when Sirius was released meeting his Godfather. Harry also passed on the name of a Healer for Sirius's mind, body, and Magic that he had come across in his travels to each school.
Lord Voldemort:
The spirit of Lord Voldemort was found by Professor Quirrell in 1990 and was finally rescued from his exile in the forest of Albania. His loyal Death Eater took him back to England making Voldemort happy to find out that the man worked under Dumbles. His mood rose, even more, when he heard talk of Albus getting access to the Philosopher's Stone for a bit thinking he could use the item to get a body, but Quirrell squashed that idea when he informed his Master that Dumbledore keeps the Wards around the school at full power all the time. And since Voldemort was in spirit form due to a dark ritual he would be blocked from entering, and even if they did put his spirit in something it would be detected as soon as he entered the castle.
Quirrell to better prevent Voldemort's spirit from degrading creating a Golem in which to hold it. Due to the thing not being truly alive Voldemort did not have to take on some drastic measures such as drinking the blood of a Unicorn. Once Quirrell had headed back to Hogwarts to teach and spy on Dumbles for him Voldemort contacted one of his most loyal servants having another idea on getting his body back. Knowing that if he gathers his Horcruxes again he could resume his form Voldemort meets his servant in the sitting room of Quirrell's home as they presented his old Diary. "Ah, lovely Narcissa I thank you for keeping this safe for me after all this time. Ask for a boon and if it is within my power either now or later I will do it for you," he said. He sort of expected the woman to ask to marry him just like her sister Narcissa had been deeply in love with him.
"I want Lucius to die," Narcissa said surprising him.
"I thought you loved him and wasn't he a good shield since what Quirrell told me, everyone, though he was my follower not you," he stated.
"I did, and he was but then I also found out he was not a Pureblood but a fucking creature," Narcissa said. Voldemort finally understood knowing the woman fully believed his ideas of Pureblood being superior.
"I promise as soon as I get my body back I will kill him," Voldemort promises.
"His brat as well," Narcissa added making him nod his head in agreement.
Quirrell failed at getting the stone leaving Voldemort to start leeching the magic from the man, Narcissa, as well as Crabbe Sr. and Goyle Sr. to stay inside the Golem. With no other choice, he had his followers start to gather his Horcruxes so he could use them to gain his body back. He did find for spending so long as a spirit he did forget the exact location of them but was able to give them the general area. They were able to collect all but two the one that was at Hogwarts for obvious reasons and his ancestor's locket. He knew where that one was but he also recalled the protections he had in place on it. Knowing he would need someone to go with him to get it and the protection would kill them he wanted to do that one last so he would not lose one of his leeches. Voldemort finally found a way into Hogwarts when both Narcissa and Quirrell informed him that due to the Triwizard Tournament happening at Hogwarts the power of the Wards around the school would be less powerful.
Ron Weasley:
Ron was worried about going to Hogwarts, for he was neither as smart as Bill or Percy, strong as Charlie, nor as outgoing as the twins. He had nearly worked himself into a panic attack before his mother was able to calm him down by telling him a thing most parents told kids his age. That Harry Potter was going to become his friend when he got to Hogwarts. Believing her completely Ron became excited about school, but he took her words as Prophetic sharing with his older twins brothers that Harry was going to be his best friend. The pair could have ended it there but they decided to go along with it wanting to use his belief to prank him when they got to Hogwarts.
With both his Mother and the Twins agreeing with him Ron knew it had to be true and spent the train ride to Hogwarts looking for Harry saying they were best friends. Something that came to bite him bad as Harry never showed up at Hogwarts. Finding himself a laughing stock and an outcast he did his best to stay out of the view from others making friends with the other big outcast in his year and house; the Muggleborn girl Hermione Granger.
The pair tended to spend most of their time in the library doing homework together, which helped Ron focus and find out that he was almost as good in his classes as Bill and Percy were. Both of them were surprised to find themselves summoned to the Headmaster's office around Halloween and told that they were the perfect people to become Harry Potter's friends once he returned from the training he was doing to be good enough to put an end to the Dark Lord and his minions. One would think that after what happened last time someone told him this Ron would not be so quick to follow along with it but the redhead found himself agreeing with the man alongside Hermione.
This time Ron decided to keep quiet from everyone that Harry was going to be his best friend, and by Christmas, most of the school had forgotten his boast on the train. Though the Twins still teased him about it, but also about him and Hermione dating. But he was thankfully able to ignore them, for the most part, and just focus on his classwork.
Draco Malfoy.
With Ron being an outcast, thus not spreading tales that Draco was a young Death Eater, and not being insulted by Harry for not shaking his hand in greeting Draco lead a mostly normal school life. Draco loved his times at Hogwarts for it was better than it was at home with his Dad and Narcissa. His Dad had never lied to him having told Draco the truth about the woman at the age of five. His Dad had explained that she was not his Bearer, but the cousin of them. Narcissa had been jealous of Lucius' relationship with his mate Regulus Black and had used her status as the Dark Lord's enforcer/spy to get rid of Draco's Bearer and forced herself into their lives. His Dad had tried to leave her after the Dark Lord meets his end at the hands of Harry Potter but she would have none of it spreading the rumor that it had been Lucius, not her that had been the Death Eater and pretended to be the supportive wife.
At school, Draco relied on his friends Theodore Nott and Blaise Zabini to try to find a way for him and his Dad to get away from her. Both of his friends were willing to help since Theodore had run away from his own father who was also one of the mad man's followers to live with his Grandfather, and Blaise's family always remained neutral in the battles between Dark and White Magicals. The pair also helped keep away Vincent Crabbe, Gregory Goyle, and Pansy Parkinson, whose parents were also Death Eaters, away from him while he was at the castle.
Hogwarts Welcoming Feast for the Visiting Schools
Hearing the sound of many pieces of silverware hitting the table Albus looked over at the Ravenclaw table and saw that young student that had come in with the Durmstrang students. "I thought we agreed that since the Goblet would only choose of age students you not bring any younger ones," Albus said turning to Igor.
"We did agree to that yes," Igor said not looking up as he dug into his shepherd's pie.
"That what is up with that young student over there?" Albus asked nodding at the strange boy not wanting to bring further attention to him.
"Ah that is just H.P. and he is, well unique,' Igor stated finally looking up.
Before Albus could ask what made the boy unique Olympe, who had been chatting with Minerva perked up. "Ah H.P. is here that is wonderful such an interesting young lad," she said looking out into the hall and catching sight of the boy chatting with Heir Delacour.
"You know this boy?" Albus asked turning to her.
"Ah yes he was at Beauxbatons for almost a year. I think the only Head that knows him better than me is Master Edogawa," Olympe stated.
"He went to Mahooutokoro as well who is this young man?" Minerva asked.
"Well since the age of eight he has visited all the Major Magical Schools and some minor ones as well," Igor stated having just met the delightfully young Magical at the start of the school term himself.
"Why?" Albus asked looking at the boy who looked no different than the students sitting around him showing nothing special about him apart from him wearing Muggle clothing.
"Well according to him he wants to see how people study and learn Magic in our world thinking it will lead to a greater understanding of Magicals as a whole," Olympe said with a small smile as she lifted her glass at the boy. To Albus and the members of staff who were following this conversation, the boy seemed to know she was toasting him as he turned to look at her giving her a smile and a quick nod.
"Ah so he as the Muggles say, saved the best for last with Hogwarts," Albus said with a nod of understanding. Both Igor and Olympe fought to keep a straight face for during one of their first talks with the boy once he arrived on their campus they had asked him why he had come. H.P. had told them about his journey to learn at all the Magical Schools but had been avoiding Hogwarts due to Dumbledore himself. "Still it is strange that you let him go to your schools at all," Albus added.
"I know, I did nothing. He just appeared one day somehow able to bypass all protections Durmstrang had in place to protect people from finding it until after they Graduated," Igor said with a wry smile.
"He did the same thing at Beauxbatons as well," Olympe added.
"Remarkable that is quite amazing," Filius said knowing that most Magical areas of learning had protection that had been placed by Humans but also Goblins that this H.P. was able to get past such things showed how powerful the young boy was.
"So if he came with you Igor but is also an old student of yours Olympe do you know where he plans to sleep?" Albus asked since the boy had left the Durmstrang students and had sat with the Beauxbatons group at the Ravenclaw table.
"I would not worry much about that he will make do on his own," Igor said.
"Yes he never once asked me to let him sleep in any of the dorms at Beauxbatons but he was always well-rested for the classes he would sit in on," Olympe said with Igor nodding along with her statement.
"I guess it does not matter as long as he does not cause any trouble," Albus said giving them both his best Grandfatherly look as he stands up to officially start the Triwizard Tournament. As Filch brings in the casket containing the Goblet of Fire Albus found himself staring at the strange boy again unable to shake the feeling that he looked familiar somehow.
As he sent everyone to sleep after he placed the Goblet he continued to watch the boy, but surprisingly lost track of him in the crowd. Having a lot of work to do for the tournament as well as the meshing of the classes with the visiting students he headed back to his office and directed the Gargoyle to allow no one to pass even if they knew the password or not, thus preventing Ron and Hermione from reaching him and telling him that the strange boy was in fact, Harry Potter.
As Harry left the Great Hall he allowed the crowd of students both familiar and those from Hogwarts move him along. Once he was out of view of the staff he made his way to the edge of the crowd and shifted form into one of his feline forms before bounding away to explore the castle. Due to his Mage-Sight, he was able to find places where Magic seemed to gather in the school so was easily able to find the locations where the Hogwarts students slept but he did not head there rather he headed to another spot and was not surprised to find a Magical Doorway appear across from a tapestry of someone trying to teach trolls how to dance. Changing back into his human form he pushed open the door to find a very nice bedroom and went to go lie down in the bed.
He had not really wanted to come to Hogwarts but hearing with the Triwizard Tournament taking place meant he would have the friends he made at both Durmstrang and Beauxbatons not to mention the Heads of the schools there he decided to come along. The idea of a tournament also sounded like a fun way to test himself for he had not had a real test of his skill since his time with the Good Magician had used him as a challenge to make sure only the most determined and worthy people could come to ask their questions of him. "You know what it seems like it might be fun to take part in it," he said aloud as he pushed himself off the bed and left the room to go place his name in the Goblet of Fire.
