The Lupins meet Asher

Remus doesn’t know if he’s ever been so excited. Like getting on the Lions? Obviously amazing. Seeing his son being born? Fantastic!

But today! Today was the day his family was going to meet Asher. They were supposed to fly up a month or so ago, right after the team met him, but then Jules came down with the flu and his parents didn’t want to risk passing it along to any of them. So the visit was changed. He hadn’t seen them in months, and Remus couldn’t wait.

They were due to arrive at the house any minute, and Remus had been pacing by the door. Sirius watched his fiance from where he was sprawled with the baby on the floor. Asher was sprawled on his back, little arms and legs flailing as his daddy tickled his tummy.

“I know, my little wiggle monster. Papa is being so silly, non?” Sirius smiled, pressing kisses all over the smiling baby’s face.

Remus stuck his tongue out at the other man, laughing, “Oh shush you!” He said, before looking out the window again. “They’re here!” He said, the curtain falling shut behind him. Sirius lifted Asher off the floor, resting him in one arm.

Swinging the front door open, Remus was quickly tackled by his little brother, “Remus!” Jules shouted, his arms wrapping around Remus’s waist.

Sirius smiled as Remus swung him around the living room, “Jules!” He yelled back.

“We’re here to see my nephew.” Julian said with a grin as Remus set him down, Hope and Lyall closing the door behind them.

Hope squeezed him tight, pressing a kiss to his cheek, “We missed you both. Pictures and video chat just aren’t the same!” She said before looking over at Sirius. She couldn’t help the squeal that left her lips.

“Oh my goodness, my little grandbaby.” She said, tears already welling up in her eyes as she leaned to press a kiss to Sirius’s cheek. “Can I?”

Sirius grinned, gently passing Asher over to her, “Of course, he’s been waiting for you guys.” He murmured. Moving over to the couch, Hope sat in the middle with Lyall and Jules on either side. She traced a gentle finger over his cheek, sniffling softly, “Oh boys, he’s so perfect. Look at those curls.”

Sitting in the chair across from them, Sirius pulled Remus into his lap, “Oh yeah, he came out with a full head of hair.” He said with a smile, wrapping his arm around his fiance’s waist.

Jules sat on his knees so he could see better, peeking over his mother’s arm to the small face, “He’s so tiny.” He whispered, reaching for the small fingers. Asher looked around curiously before reaching out, his fist wrapping around Julian’s finger.

He gasped softly, a smile spreading on his face, “Look, he’s got my finger!” Julian said, looking over at his brother.

Lyall chuckled softly, “He’s got a good grip there.” He said, wrapping an arm around his wife. Asher wiggled happily in Hope’s arms, his legs kicking in the air.

“The whole team’s already trying to get him skates now that he can hold his head up. We told the cubs they could watch him at some point so we could go out, but I’m afraid we’re gonna come back to him in full goalie garb.” Remus laughed, resting his head on top of Sirius’s.

Julian looked up with wide eyes, “Can we get a jersey? A little Lions jersey?” He asked.

Sirius shook his head, smiling, “The boys already beat you to that, Jules. He’s got one every size until he’s at least your age.”

“Can I hold him?” Julian asked, looking between his mom and his brother. Hope looked at Remus, raising an eyebrow, “That’s up to you guys.” She said.

Sirius nodded, “Yeah, of course, Jules. You just gotta make sure you hold onto him. He’s real wiggly right now.” He warned as Hope moved Asher into his uncle’s arms.

A serious look spread on Julian’s face as he nodded, “I’ve got him.” He murmured, holding Asher carefully. “I’ll protect you, Asher.” He whispered.

Looking up from her son and grandson, Hope couldn’t help the tears that fell down her cheeks, “I can’t get over how lovely he is. I’m so incredibly happy for you both. And for Asher. And for us, cause we get to have this little one in our life. I’m just so happy.” She dabbed at her sweater sleeve at her cheeks.

Remus smiled softly, squeezing Sirius’s shoulder, “Us too.”
