THE EVIL STEPS part2

Petunia left the room with her beloved boy. She knew her husband wasn't that smart, but what he did earlier was embarrassing.

She needs to find Merope, after all, they are best friends. Soon, they will be equal in status. She may not be as beautiful as Merope, but what's the use of surgery? If she’s honest with herself, she is not pretty like her sister or even Merope.

The only thing she can be proud of is her kindness. Yes, she was kind enough to bring her worthless nephew into their home instead of letting him rot in an orphanage.

When she reached her destination, she saw the wives of Mr. Malfoy and Mr. Greengrass. They were happily chatting, and it intrigued her. Maybe this is the chance to prove herself that she is equal to them.

She would try her best to get Merope’s favor. As far as she knew, according to some previous rumors, her family was a direct descendant of one of the four founders of Hogwarts.

However, no one knows who the owner of this prestigious school is. All they know is that their identities are still unknown. If she succeeds in being her best friend, then her little Dudlykins might get it at Hogwarts without paying those ridiculous tuition fees.

“Well, hello ladies,” she smiles at them.

“Hello, Petunia,” Merope thinks Petunia looks like a horse when she smiles.

“Good evening, Mrs. Dursely,” Eris greeted her, while Adora couldn't help but giggled.

“I brought my sweet Dudley to play with Tom,” she pushed her lovely son in front of the ladies, “greet them, dear.”

Dudley just stared at them and didn't know what to do, so he just nodded at them.

The two ladies suddenly began giggling for no reason, but Petunia caught a glimpse on their lips muttering something. She didn’t know what it was, but she had a strong feeling they somehow insulted his sweet Dudlykins.

She wants to punch them in the face. How dare these bitches!

“Well,“ Merope continued, “as I was saying, that my little angel is very polite.”

“Oh, Right! Where’s that sweet child of yours? I went to Italy and bought these delicious macarons just for him!” Adora said happily.

“And I also got him the best ice cream from Hogsmeade. The one that he likes the most.” Eris added.

“I can’t believe you’re already spoiling him this much!” Merope pouts at them.

Dudley can’t help but drool at the sight of those delicious desserts that were offered by these two women. The door opened, and Petunia saw many beautiful children chattering away.

Petunia looked at her son for a moment, then begrudgingly criticized him. Maybe, once he becomes a teenager or an adult his features might change. Maybe?

“Oh! There he is! Come here, sweetie!” Adora squeals.

A familiar mophead suddenly runs up to the annoying Mrs. Greengrass.

“Hello, little Hawwy! Aunt Adora really misses you so much!” She hugged him tightly and put him on her lap. “Look sweetheart, I’ve got you a yummy snack!” She picks up the green macarons and hands them to him.

“Oh! It looks like a little burger!” Harry was fascinated.

“Really? Why don’t you try it?” She encourages him, and when Harry bites, his eyes widen.

“It’s sweet!” He chirped happily.

“I know right?” She said excitedly. “Also Aunt Eris brought you an ice cream!”

“The one you ate from Hogsmeade.” Eris added while she patted his head. Harry just smiled at them which made the two nice ladies melt.

“What do we say when we receive something, darling?” Her mama asked him, and he smiled at her too.

“Thank you, Aunts!” He shyly says this, which makes him even cuter in their eyes.

While their attention was focused on Harry, Petunia didn't know what was happening. Instead of eating something good, shouldn’t he just eat some moldy bread that he deserves? Instead of sitting with one of the most powerful wives in their town, shouldn’t he be doing something like cleaning somewhere he can’t be seen? Instead of wearing expensive branded clothes, shouldn’t he wear some rags or hands-me-down clothes?

She watched the freak with disgust, envy, and jealousy. That freak didn’t deserve anything! It should be her! Her son! Even her husband, though he had embarrassed himself just now.

When the freak just noticed her presence and smiled at her, she threw a fit. Does this freak still have the nerve to mock her? She'll tell him where his place is.

“Hello, Aunt Petunia,” her nephew freak greeted her.

“WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE CLOTHES, YOU FREAK!” She stood up and yelled at him. She looked at Merope worriedly. “Oh, Merope, I didn't know where he stole that. I promise! I didn’t know!”

Merope saw the way her son flinched and began shaking in fear. How dare this bitch yell at his lovely son. Instinctively, she grabbed the butter knife on the table and stood in front of her, protecting her child from her

“Calm down,” She whispered while holding the butter knife close to her throat.

Petunia was scared for a second. Surely she wouldn’t try to harm her bestie, right? But the way Merope holds the butter knife to her throat and her cold eyes gaze at her, tells her that she would slit her throat if she moves.

“But-,” she wants to reason out, but Merope digs the butter knife into her throat, making her shut her mouth.

“I said, calm down,” Merope moves closer to her ears and whispers, “bitch.”

This bitch is lucky if only her baby wasn’t here, she would have died the moment she entered the room. She gritted her teeth, she wanted to torture this bitch the death for yelling at her baby. She snapped out from her murderous thoughts when she heard her baby was sniffing. She gave Petunia one last murderous look and made her hold the butter knife. She turned around to look at her baby and was shaking like a leaf. Her poor baby must have been scared to death.

“Hush, my dear,” she picks him up and holds him close while rubbing his back. “It’s alright, my love, Mama’s here.”

Petunia was shocked seeing how Merope affectionately held the freak, and why did she call herself ‘Mama’?She did not understand what was happening. She was about to ask what was happening, but the two ladies stood and gave her a cold stare. She didn’t notice that she was shaking as well and didn’t dare to do anything, so she just sat back beside her son.

“Petunia,” Merope smiled at her as she flinched, “he didn’t steal the clothes,” she kept her voice low. “I bought it for him.”

“Oh,” Petunia just stared at the carpet floor, not daring to look her in the eyes.

Harry was taken aback when his Aunt Petunia yelled at him for stealing some clothes. What if his Mama and Papa believed in her? Would they look at him in disgust the way the neighbors looked at him when Aunt Petunia lied to them? Will Tom also believe her? Will everyone in the house believe her?

He held back tears and tried not to cry. What if they get annoyed by him if he cried for no reason? He didn’t notice that he was sniffing loudly when his Mama held her telling him to hush. He was crying silently, trying not to make too much noise.

“It’s alright, my dear.” His Mama whispered to him, and he reluctantly looked her in the eyes. Her gaze never changes, only being more understanding. His Mama smiled at him lovingly, which reassured him.

“Why don’t you go to the playroom, my child?” She smiled encouragingly at him, and he nodded slowly.

“I see you made a lot of friends.” He smiled at her and nodded again.

“Tom, be a dear and go to the playroom with everyone else.” She told him without taking her eyes off of her baby.

“Yes, Mother.” Tom replied, “Come now, dear.” Merope put him on the floor and walked over to Tom.

“You should show Draco what Father has bought you today,” Tom tells his beloved, which made his mood a little brighter.

“Go now children, this room here is for adults only, and we need time for ourselves.” Adora cheerfully announced.

“Why don’t you go with them, Dudley? There’s a lot of toys in there for you to enjoy.” Merope looked at him ,who was quiet the whole time while clinging to his mommy.

“Go with them, Dudlykins.” Petunia puts her trembling hand on his. “Make a lot of friends, okay?”

He doesn’t want to go, but his mum has already pushed him toward the other children, and reluctantly follows them out of the room.

As soon as the children went out, they sat there quietly and drank tea. Petunia was glad they didn’t talk. She thought she was going to die in front of her son. She flinched again when someone put a cup in front of her.

“Drink that to calm you down,” Merope said, “you’re shaking.” She drank her tea with a smile.

She just nodded in response, for fear of making a mistake again. She wanted the night to be over, and wanted to get their money and go home. For now, they look down at them, but hopefully one day, they'll admire her family as much as she admires them.
