The hospital
Spencer's eyes scrunched under the bright white light and an soft voice spoke from his side.
"Darling, it's okay. The light's dim." A hand squeezed his and Spencer blinked his eyes. The room before him was blurry and he could just about make out the figure next to him. Spencer blinked again and his vision cleared.
"Grant?" Spencer whispered, voice scratchy and hoarse. "Grant?"
"Hey, darling. You feeling slightly better?" Grant whispered back, smiling softly.
"Are you. It's 'are you'. But a bit. I'm sore." Spencer shifted slightly before groaning softly. "The baby? Grant! The baby?!"
"He's fine. He's okay. He's a bit premature but he'll be fine."
"He?" Spencer cried. "It's a boy? They said it was a girl!"
"Yeah, darling. We have a son. We...had one of both. The doctors missed him but saw her. Do you want to name him?"
"Carter Austin Anderson. But... What happened to our daughter."
"Anderson? Not Anderson-Reid?"
"No. He'll be Anderson...just like me. But Grant! What happened to our daughter?!"
"Like you? Spencer?"
"I changed my name a couple of days ago. I'm now Dr Spencer Reid Anderson. No hyphen. Grant! What happened to our daughter?!"
"Ti amo." (Italian: I love you)
"Ich liebe dich auch." (German: I love you too) "But seriously! Our daughter?!"
"I'm sorry, love. You... lost her."
"NO!!!!"
