"Expecto- Expecto-" Sirius tried brokenly. Memories refused to come to him, happy or otherwise. "Expecto-" Silver mist is all he got out of his wand.
Sirius took in a deep breath and decided to use a shortcut. He cast a cheering charm on himself. He didn't have time for his grief, not right now. Thoughts of their last time together, of James and Lily and Harry's first birthday are easier to come this time around.
"Expecto Patronum," Sirius casts and a silver fawn stood in front of him again.
"Professor McGonagall," Sirius said. This time, he didn't care how audible he was or how clear he spoke. "James and Lily are dead. Harry is alive. Peter Pettigrew betrayed their location to Voldemort. We- we changed it. Thought Remus was the traitor. But listen he was the secret keeper. He's a rat animagus. And- And I thought of you. You're a cat animagus, aren't you? Do you think- if you've time- Voldemort is dead so- And Harry needs me-" Sirius never finished speaking.
The fawn Patronus went off in search of Minerva McGonagall all the same.
