The one where I met Howl
CHAPTER - 2
THE ONE WHERE I MET HOWL
The first time I ever met Howl, we both got drunk, so drunk that the next, day Howl was sleeping on my couch, and I thought he was a burglar. Why my mind thought all that, I have no idea. It took a solid thirty minutes to solve all the misunderstandings. Since that day, we have been the best of friends.
We both loved magic, knew we were better at it than most people. Sometimes I think it was our arrogance that made us such good friends. He was still at university at that time; we both wanted to explore magic as it had never been done before by any person. When he first told me about the other reality he goes to, I was excited. This other reality proved the multiverse theory was real; this proved that there were multiple alternative universes/realities out there. This was a marvelous discovery, one that could change everything, but he made me promise to never tell anyone about it. At that time I was disappointed; now I understand why.
A few months after, we decided to start our alchemy project, at that time it was just a little bit of fun. Soon we found out that it could be more than just fun; we knew we were on to something with it. For two years we worked hard on it, and just as we were nearly done, he vanished. I knew he went to his other world. I knew he ran away from all his problems, but it still hurt when he went without a word. He was supposed to be my best friend; he was supposed to at the very least tell me I would have understood.
Even though he wasn’t here anymore, I didn’t give up on our assignment. I finished it a few months later. Somehow I was able to get it published in "Alchemy Today"; from then on it was a success. Our research was on how incorporating muggle science into alchemy can enhance it. It was research on how magic and science together makes everything more powerful with a few experiments in it. It was an instant success; it was phenomenal; everyone loved it. All the success felt undeserving without him there.
For three years, people asked me about Howl and every time I lied. That is when Dumbledore offered the job at Hogwarts. I needed the job desperately; I didn't want to go back to France and live near my family. So I searched and searched to find him, luckily I did.
