Jane
LONDON
Jane was observing the guy across from him through the restaurant’s menu, trying to be as discreet as she could until a tissue with ‘Hi’ written on it was slid over to her that she apologizes and finally put down the menu.
“So what’s the story with you?” Richard, her date said. She denies saying that there was no story at all to be told.
“You have been hiding behind the menu for the past ten minutes and there’s only three choices. It’s either chicken, fish or vegetarian Jane. I think there is a story and it involves a guy.” Jane blushes having been caught.
“It’s complicated.” To which her date asked if he’s still around, she said no and told a half truth saying he went away. Richard in return sympathizes with her, telling Jane how he understands and said something about a woman he was involved with was sleeping with other guys behind his back. Jane did not know how to respond to that.
A woman wearing a red beanie with a grey coat went over to their table. “Oh uh can we get some wine please?”
“Oh sure I’d like some too.” The woman replied, who has been mistaken as a waiter by Richard.
“Richard, this is Darcy and Darcy this is Richard. What are you doing here?” Darcy then dragged a chair to their table and sat herself down, Richard cocks his eyebrows at her but Darcy’s attention was on Jane as she pulled out a device and hands it over to Jane who took it and frown. It has been a while since she saw it, it was beeping loudly.
“It’s malfunctioning.”
“That’s what I said.” Jane bangs the device onto the table several time.
“That’s what I did!” Darcy said as Jane passed back the device to her. “It looks like some reading that Erik was rambling about.”
“Richard, it has been fun but do you mind if i?” She felt horrible leaving Richard alone but he sigh and said it was okay and that he was gonna enjoy eating sea bass alone. Jane and Darcy rushes out of the restaurant to meet with Ian, Darcy’s intern. Jane tried to call Erik, their astrophysicist friend who is currently in a police car after he got caught naked in Stonehenge.
They drove to somewhere where the reading was acting up, and discover something strange when a couple of kids they met there showed them a lorry that was turned upside down and in midair. Next, they went up the stairs and the kids threw a bottle to which it disappear at some point before appearing again and falling again. Sometimes the things they threw didn’t return.
Jane went to investigate the place when the device beeps rapidly. Darcy and Ian stayed back with the kids, throwing random things there to watch it reappear. Ian decides to throw something and they waited. It never return.
“Um, was that our car key?” Ian nods and they both look at each other as if having the same thought. ‘Oh shit’
Meanwhile Jane followed the reading before getting sucked into a different place that felt ominous. A giant slab of rock was in front of her, there seems to be something in between it. She looked closer, it was like a red swirling thing before it charges at her and disappear.
Somewhere in the galaxy, the dark elves stir awake. Malekith opens his eyes, greets his fellow elves and spoke in an elven language.
“The Aether has awaken us, the Convergence returns.”
ASGARD
Heimdall kept watch over the bifrost, as he always do when he sense someone walking towards him. It was Prince Thor, nowadays Thor would always seek him out.
“You’re late.” Heimdall’s voice booms louder in the empty place.
“Merriment can sometimes be a heavier burden than battle.” Thor replied as he walked closer to where Heimdall is standing guard.
“Then you’re doing one of them incorrectly.” Thor chuckles and stops walking when he was already beside Heimdall. Heimdall walked down the steps and observed the stars with Thor. They talked about the stars and The Convergence, the alignment of the stars. Heimdall spoke about the dangerous effects but also states how beautiful it is.
“How is she?” Thor asked as always, he was always concerned about Jane but he can’t meet with her knowing he have his duties here in Asgard to fulfill. The rare times he went to Midgard, he met with his brother and of course his nephew who he adores greatly.
“I can’t see her.” No mortals can hide from Heimdall unless there is something hiding them.
MIDGARD
Jane woke up in an empty warehouse and met outside with Darcy and also the police?
“Please tell me you did not call the police?” Jane asked Darcy who stated that she didn’t know what to do because she had been missing for five hours. They both stopped talking when noticing that it was raining but surprisingly it did not affect that at well as if they were both shielded from the rain. Jane looked to the side and noticed the man who she didn’t see for such a long time.
She rushes over to him and leaving Darcy stranded under the rain. Jane demanded explanation from Thor as to why he didn’t come back but not before slapping him in the face twice. Thor explained about the wars going on in the nine realm and she accepted his excuses.
Thor leaned in closer as did she and when they were mere inches apart, Darcy came over shouting “Hey is this you?” Thor apologizes and stops the rain.
“Hold that thought.” Jane said and went over to the police to explained.
“How’s space?” Darcy asks Thor.
“Space is fine.” Something burst when they were talking, and Thor shields Darcy with his cape.
It was coming from Jane, he runs over to inspect her and lifts her up.
“Hold onto me.”
“What are you doing?” Thor didn’t reply when suddenly a bright light engulfed them as she held tightly around Thor. Thor brought her to Asgard, Heimdall greets them when they arrived.
“Welcome to Asgard.”
Thor brought her to their healer as they lay her down and inspects her body. One of the healer explained to Thor how she have an absurd amount of energy in her that could destroy heer as her mortal body couldn’t contain it. Before he could ask more, Odin walked in.
“She does not belong here in Asgard.” Odin walks toward his son, glancing over at Jane.
“She is ill.” He knew his father would disapprove of his actions but whatever is in her body causing the outbursts were not normal.
“She is a mortal, that’s what they do.”
“Something I have not seen before is residing within her father.”
“Her world has its own healers, let them deal with it. Guards escort her out.” The guards obeyed his order and walked over to Jane. Before Thor could warn them to not touch her, red burst of energy threw the guards off of her.
“Jane!” Thor immediately went to her side, as did Odin but on the other side. Odin hovers his hand on her arm and he saw bright red energy coursing through her veins. “Impossible.”
“The infection is defending her.” Healer Eir said.
“No, it’s defending itself.” Odin orders Thor and Jane to follow him as he explained things to them. He told them of relics that pre-date the universe itself and the one within her is one of them. He told them of the dark forces which is the dark elves.
“Born of eternal night, the dark elves come to steal the light away.” Thor reads, familiar with the story as his mother told him before for bedtime stories. Odin told them of the weapon called the Aether. The other relics often appear as stone but the Aether is fluid and everchanging.
“It changes matter into dark matter. It also seeks out host bodies, drawing strength from their life force.” Jane looks alarmed at this. Odin further explains how Malekith intends to use it to return the universe to one of darkness. Thor’s grandfather, Bor managed to kill them all or so it seems. The book they’ve read does not mention how to get rid of it from her body. A guard came in and told Thor of the prisoners escaping and he rushes to them but not before asking a maid to escort Jane to Frigga.
Heimdall felt something was wrong, he saw a suspicious glint in the sky before realizing and running towards it, destroying it with his daggers, successfully taking the ship down as he made long gashes. Alas, it was not the only one, many others emerged and attacked the city. Heimdall ran back to his post and twist the sword to activate a layer of protection to the palace but it did not hold for long as it was destroyed from the inside.
The palace in chaos, fighting ensues between asgardians and the dark elves. Frigga was alone with Jane, when Malekith entered and Frigga puts herself in front of Jane.
“Who are you?” Frigga ask the creature with long, braided white hair and ashy skin.
“I am Malekith and I will have what is mine.” Frigga ushers Jane to run away as she pulled out her sword and fought Malekith. Frigga easily overpowered Malekith when another horrid creature came from behind her and shoved her away.
“You have taken what is mine child, and you will give it back.” Said Malekith as he strode towards Jane who was revealed to be an illusion made by Frigga.
“Witch!” Malekith shouted at Frigga.
“Where is the aether?” He stalks towards Frigga still on the floor.
“I will never tell you.” Malekith fumed and he was about to stabbed Frigga when Thor came in the room and blast him with a lightning to his face. The other creature, his general, picked Malekith up and fled but not before Thor hitting them both with the hammer, and they went down the balcony but a ship caught them both and they fled from Asgard.
Odin came in next and rushed to his wife’s aid who assures him she’s okay.
“Thor, you will have to hide her away from them. Don’t let Malekith get to her, Asgard is no longer safe, we will need to bring up the shield again.” Frigga said as she stands up with Odin’s help.
“You will need help from your brother to hide her for a while, he’ll know what to do. Be safe my child, send my regards to your brother.”
“Yes I will.” He gently dragged Jane along with him, out of the room.
“Where are we going?” she asks Thor.
“New York, we’ll be meeting with my brother.”
"Your brother, the one who attacked New York?"
"Yes him. He's my only brother." He smiled albeit fondly at the mention of his brother. He was missing him and of course Harry as well. He can't wait for Jane to meet Loki and Harry.
"Oh boy." Jane sighed.
