Memories
It was another day and a half before you woke up.
Neville had come in a few times a day. Draco had moved to your side the minute they were done working on you and hadn’t moved since.
It was late morning; Neville was sitting at the end of the bed reading. Draco was sitting on a stool sleeping. He was holding your hand. When you woke up, you took a sharp deep breath. Neville looked up at you. You tried to sit up, but it was hard to do, and you head hurt.
You laid back down, “Ow.”
Neville giggled a little. “Slow down there.”
You smiled. You moved around a little, then you started to panic. “Neville, I can’t feel my leg. Why can’t I feel my leg?”
“Calm down.” He lifted the blanket. “It is still there. Madam Pomfrey numbed it so you can’t feel it. She said the healing in pretty painful.”
You finally noticed Draco holding you hand. You tried to get your hand out.
“He will probably wake up if you do that.”
You got your hand out and he stayed asleep.
“Who is that?”
“What?” Neville said looking at you confused. “You don’t know who that is?”
“No. Should I?”
“He has only been your boyfriend for three years.”
Draco woke up. “Oh, babe! Are you okay?” He got up and hugged you.
“Neville…” You said.
“Um, Draco.” Neville said.
Draco stopped hugging you and turned to Neville.
“She doesn’t remember you.”
“That’s not funny, Neville.”
“I’m not laughing.”
Draco looked back to you. “Babe, come on.” He tried to touch you face, but you turned away from him. “We spent the whole day together. I took you-.”
You looked to Neville while he was saying this. Neville walked over to Draco.
“Draco, stop.” He whispered. “You are going to scare her.”
Draco walked to the other side of the room. Neville sat on the edge of your bed.
“So, you remember me?”
“Yeah.”
“What else do you remember? What happened to you?”
“Ah… I don’t really know. It is all kind of fuzzy. I was walking down that small hallway by the Great Hall, going to Snape’s closet. Then I remember being on the floor of the closet. Then, nothing. Just what is happening right now.”
He got up and went to talk to Draco. “I don’t know. She pretty much doesn’t remember anything.” “Yeah. There has to be something we are missing.” Draco said.
“What did Snape say to you?”
“Not much. How to reverse the one spell, that her leg was broken…” he stopped. “A bottle.” He looked at Neville.
He went over to his jacket and got the bottle out of the pocket. He brought it to Neville.
“This was in her hand.” He held it so they could read it.
“Memory Loss.” They said together.
“How do we reverse it?”
“Who do we know that is great at mind spells?” Neville said.
“Hermonie.” Draco said back.
“I will go find her. Will you be okay?”
“Yeah.”
“Please don’t freak her out.”
“Don’t worry.”
Neville left and Draco looked at you. You were looking at the scars on your arms. He walked over to you. “They are cuts from a wicked spell.”
“They seem familiar.”
He rolled up his sleeve and showed you the scars on his arm. “That’s because I had the same spell cast on me. You were there…”
You touched his scar.
“Most of them will go away. It’s the deep cuts that stay.”
He looked at you wishing things were back to normal. You saw him out of the corner of you eye, looking at you. You kept looking down, at the scars on his on his arm. Then you turned to look at him. So much love and care in his eyes. You looked away, back to his arm. You let go of his arm and put your head in your hands.
“Don’t cry. Please don’t cry, Neville will kill me. I’ll go.” He got up to go.
“No, it’s okay.” you said.
He stopped and turned to look at you.
“It’s just… there’s so much… love. And I can’t remember anything.”
Just then Neville came in with Hermonie. He saw you with your head down and Draco next to you.
He looked at Draco, “Seriously?”
“No, Neville it isn’t his fault.” Hermonie sat next to you.
“Hey.”
“Hi.” You said back.
“May I?” she said to you.
You nodded. She put her hands up to your head.
“Yeah, it is very cloudy. Two. One big and one small.”
“Okay.”
“We will start with the smaller one. Find out what happened to you.” She started doing some spells.
It was a very weird feeling. After a while she stopped.
“So? Remember anything?” Hermione asked you. You closed your eyes and thought.
“They used the cruciatus curse.” You paused.
Draco stood up.
“Twice.” A tear rolled down your cheek.
Draco started to walk out of the room. Neville stopped him.
“Neville,” Draco growled, “Let me go.”
“Dude, calm down.”
“You think you can handle a little more?” Hermione asked you.
“Yeah, I think so.”
She started again. After another few minutes she asked.
“How about now?”
“There were two people. They both had the dark mark.”
Hermione looked at Neville. You continued.
“And they did a weird spell on my leg.”
“Well, we are getting somewhere. I’ll come back tomorrow and finish.”
“We are going to be in the hallway for a few minutes. I’ll be right back, okay?” Neville said.
“Okay.” you said as you laid back.
Neville, Draco, and Hermione went in the hallway.
“Draco, you didn’t have anything to do with this did you?” Neville sked.
“What? No!” he said.
“Why would you even ask?”
“She said they had the Dark Mark.”
Draco unbuttoned his shirts and rolled up the sleeve. “It’s gone, see.” He paused. “That’s what we were doing that day. She got rid of mine, then we went to my house and she got rid of my father’s too.”
“You didn’t have anyone else do this for you?”
“Seriously, Neville? I love her, okay? Why would I have saved her if I did it.”
“Okay, okay. We just wanted to make sure.”
“I’ll see you guys tomorrow.” Hermione said and then walked off.
Draco and Neville walked back in. You had fallen asleep.
“I guess I will go too.” Draco said.
“No, stay. Who knows it might trigger something. I’ll be back early tomorrow.” Neville walked out.
Draco walked over to the bed next to yours. He looked at you for a while. He got up and kissed you on the forehead, then ran his hand down your arm. When he got to your hand you grabbed his hand. He smiled and sat on the floor.
