Blue Hair Dye and Smeared Faces
A bag swung over your shoulder, you creaked open the door to Jinx's hideout. The hinges were louder than you expected, and Jinx turned at the noise. Isha was sitting in a chair in front of a mirror with splattered paint around the edges and a few cracks in the glass.
"Jinx? And smaller Jinx?" You questioned, your eyes moving between them both. Jinx hopped off the table, where she was sitting, and bounced over to you.
"Did you get what I asked for?" She requested. She looked at you expentantly. You handed her the bag, quickly connecting the dots. She had asked you to go buy blue pigment dye, insisting that you'd go and get it today. Now, seeing Isha's excited grin, you knew why. Jinx pulled out the container holding the blue pigment. She grinned at you and pulled you over to Isha, setting the container on the table next to the mirror.
"Don't you need to bleach it first? Her hair is brown."
"Shh. You worry too much." Jinx said. She had a brush in her hands, trying to brush Isha's hair. It wasn't being easy on her, but she was as gentle as she could be. She hummed gently as she brushed, swaying her hips to whatever song she was thinking of. The kid kicked her legs back and forth, smiling excitedly.
You smiled at the image, opening the container of pigment and dumping it in a clear container. You put the hair dye brushes you bought next to the container. "So, when did you two decide to do this?" You asked them, glancing at the girls.
Jinx shrugged, continuing to brush Isha's hair affectionately. Like a mother's touch, she was gentle and nurturing. "Last night. She said she wanted to look like me."
"That doesn't surprise me." You said, setting the half-filled containers on the table. Isha bounced happily. Jinx pats her head affectionately before picking up the container of dye. She motioned for you to help her. She dipped her fingers into the dye carelessly, picking up the dye with her hands and plotting it onto Isha's head.
You, on the other hand, picked up one of the brushes, separating strands of hair and dying them individually. You looked at her, eyebrow raised. "You know, there's a brush for a reason." You said to her.
Jinx grinned mischievously. "What? This is more fun." She laughed, continuing to smear the dye in Isha's hair. She giggles, signing "cold" with the signs you taught her. Surprisingly, you didn't need the bleach. The pigment goes over the brown perfectly.
You shook your head, but you had a smile on your face. "It's inconvinient. That dye isn't going to come out of your skin easily."
She chuckled and shrugged. "Oh well. It's not like I have nice clothes to wear anyways." She looked over at you, dye all over her fingers. "Come on, you're no fun. I need you to help me!"
"I am." You said, holding up the brush.
"You're no help! You're doing it wrong." She complained, shoving your brush aside. She took the other one in her hands, but only to smack you lightly with it.
"What do you want me to do, then?"
"Just do what I'm doing. We need to cover as much hair as possible, especially on the top." She demonstrating, adding more dye on the top of Isha's head and smearing it everywhere. She didn't bother to prevent it from dripping onto hers and Isha's clothes, along with the floor.
You sighed. "You might not mind having blue hands for a week, but I do."
She laughed at your comment in amusement. When she decided that the blue mess of Isha's hair was enough, she stood back, admiring her work. "Just wash them off when you're done. It's not like you haven't gotten dye on your hands before."
"I haven't, actually. I'm responsible. And this dye is meant to last long."
Jinx rolled her eyes and smirked at you. "Sure you are, nerd. Now stop complaining and let's get this over with."
I sighed. "Fine." You reached into the container of dye, hesitating over the blue paint.
Jinx noticed your hesitation and laughed. "You scared, nerd?" She teased, poking your side.
"Hey! Don't get dye on me!"
Jinx giggled. "Don't be such a wuss. It's just a little dye." She poked you again.
"Jinx!" I said, squirming away from her. She grinned widely, fingers posed for attack.
"What? Can't handle a little tickle fight?" Her fingers dance along your stomach and your sides as you laugh uncontrollably.
"No! Jinx!" You said as you ran away from her.
Jinx chased after you, still tickling you. She's grinning, having way too much fun ruining your clothes with the paint. "Aww, what's the matter?" She said playfully, laughing with you.
"I'm so getting you back!" You said, running over to the table to dunk your hands in the dye. Isha laughs at the interaction. You reached toward her with blue hands. Jinx quickly backed away, holding her hands up in surrender.
"Hey, that's not fair!"
"Nuh uh!" You said, leaping at her and poking her and tickling her, smearing paint all over her tattooed skin.
She squealed, trying to get away from you, squirming in your grasp. There's a blue stain on her side. "Stop! It's cold!"
You grabbed her waist, leaving blue handprints as you laughed. Jinx struggled against you, laughing. She tried to push you off, but she only got more paint on her. She giggled and squealed. You cackled. You heard Isha giggling in her chair.
Jinx huffed, pouting, yet still laughing. When she sees Isha laughing at her demise, she playfully glares at the girl. "Traitor," She says to Isha.
You winked at Isha. "She's so mean, isn't she?" You looked back at Jinx, blue arms still wrapped around her. Your faces were only inches away from each other. "Don't give what you can't take."
You saw the way Jinx's breath hitched at the proximity, how her eyes glanced down at your lips for a split second. She smirked and leaned forward, her nose touching yours. "Oh, I can take a lot. You just haven't seen my best yet, nerd."
"Oh yeah?" You said, lifting your hands mischievously. She swallowed, knowing what you were about to do. Her eyes held a mixture of excitment and defiance.
"Yeah, go ahead and try to break me."
You smiled and swiped your hands all over her face, smearing the blue over her lips and eyes and cheeks. Her face has bright blue stripes as you run away. Jinx gasped in surprise, blinking a few times as she was stunned. She recovered quickly though, playfully chasing you angrily. "Oh, I'm gonna get you now!" She reached out to grab you, just barely missing you as you moved out of the way.
You laughed in triumpance, laughing at her face. You could hardly tell where her hair ended and her face began.
She huffed in frustration, trying again. This time, she lunged at you, grabbing your shirt. She sent the two of you tumbling on the floor, her landing on top of you. "I got you now, idiot."
You panted from the effort, grinning wildly. She pinned you down and straddled your waist, smearing paint on your face like you did to her. When she was done with her revenge, she hummed in approval and moved closer to you, her face inches away from yours. "I told you I can take it."
You stared at her for a moment, then lifted your face to hers and pressed your blue lips to hers. You kissed her slowly and gently. She freezed for a moment in shock before returning the kiss, her hands moving to your neck. You felt her nails scratch your skin gently. You taste a combination of her and the dye, creating an addictive mix. When you pull away, you're smiling. "Can we finish dying Isha's hair now? Without a paint war?"
Jinx blinked for a moment, still dazed from your lips. Then she smiled back at you. "I don't know. I guess you'll have to see."
And with that, she stood, releasing you from her hold as you both continued to dye Isha's hair, enjoying each other's company in a temporarily eternal moment of peace.
