Ten Noxus Bombers
The Last Drop’s usual bustling and joyful Friday night atmosphere was now macabre and desolate.
Where joyful and excited voices once echoed and jeered, eerie silence seeped into its place, a hollow shell of the establishment it once prided itself on being.
One lone bartender served the few academy cadets that had come in, all either drinking too little or way too much in a feeble attempt to drown their sorrows. Apart from the occasional shuffle at the bar whilst its worker prepared a drink, or the few hushed conversations between students sat at the tables, you could hear a pin drop.
Caitlyn had called her friends to the bar to discuss what would be happening for them, including Vi and her brothers as well. It was a conversation she wanted to have with them all in person, not over text or on a phone call; this had to be done face-to-face.
For Caitlyn at least, it would be the last time she’d see them all for a very, very, long time, and wanted all their faces burnt into memory before it would be snatched away from her forever.
Each of her friends had ordered a drink and sat down with a beverage in hand, not exchanging words with each other for a solid half hour. Jayce was already on his third double whisky, knocking back the burning liquid as if it were simply just water. If it were any normal night, he’d be nagging the DJ by now to play some stupid Rihanna song, or wrapping his arms around his companions and telling them all how much he loved them.
Instead, he sat staring at a blank space on the wall, his eyes glazed over as he analysed crusting white paint and cracking plaster.
“How many of you got letters?” Caitlyn finally broke the silence. She leant forward and placed her elbows on the table, glancing at their solemn faces.
Vi raised a hand slowly. She sat slumped back in the booth, eyes trained on her untouched bottle of beer.
Jayce also raised his hand, which came as a shock to Cait. Jayce wasn’t at the academy on a scholarship for anything; he’d just drawn the short straw this time around.
Claggor put a finger up in the air too. Another poor draw of the cards.
“What are the rest of you gonna do?” Jayce asked the question openly, looking over at those who were lucky enough to avoid the draft.
Mylo shrugged. “They’re keeping classes running at the academy. They say it’s to not disrupt our learning, but I call BS. Everyone knows why.”
It was true. Piltover was actively engaged in war, and they could play the education card all they wanted, but anyone with half a brain could see the academy just wanted the next batch of draftees to be combat-ready and deployable whenever next needed.
“They’re putting me onto the Council in place of my mother. Want me to act as the woman in the middle, I suppose.” This came from Mel. Her fingers fluttered nervously around the mouth of her wine glass.
“What?” Cait interjected. “They can’t do that, you’re-“
“Caitlyn, I know.” Mel silenced her by raising a single elegant hand. “I know. I don’t want to do it either, but I either work with them or they send me back to Noxus. Rock and a hard place.”
“Bullshit,” Viktor scoffed. He took a small sip of the vodka lemonade he’d been nursing, its ice having melted into the rest of the drink a long time ago.
“What about you, Viktor?” Vi questioned, leaning forward to get a better look at the man.
“My lectures are still ongoing, so I suppose I will just carry on as normal,” he sighed. “I’m medically exempt from any sort of military service anyway. I was considering moving back to Zaun, but-“
“You’re from Zaun?” Vi interrupted.
“Yes,” Viktor responded suspiciously. “Is there an issue with that?”
“Not at all.” The cogs in Vi’s brain whirred into place as she finally recognised where the young man’s accent was from.
Caitlyn nodded in Vi’s direction. “What regiment did you get?”
“Avionics.” Vi folded her arms across her chest. “You?”
“Military Police. Claggor?”
“Infantry,” Claggor said defeatedly.
Mylo nudged him with an elbow. “They gonna send you in as a tank, big guy?”
Claggor responded with a dry smile which didn’t match up with the lack of emotions clouding his eyes.
“I got Engineering,” Jayce drawled. His words had begun to slur together. “Whoop-de-fucking-doo.” He stood up to fetch himself another refill, returning to his seat and knocking back yet another set of shots. His eyes wandered back to the same spot he’d been examining earlier.
The crew fell silent again, all lost in their own heads, thoughts firing through their neurones at a million miles an hour. No-one else had the nerve to strike up a conversation; there was nothing else left to say.
Finally, Jayce filled the silence, singing a soft tune dully to himself as he ran his fingertips over the cold smooth glass in front of him. “There were ten Noxus bombers in the air, ten Noxus bombers in the air…”
Vi caught on to what he was singing quickly. It was an old rugby song from when they used to play Noxus University, one that had been banned as soon as it was introduced. “Ten Noxus bombers, ten Noxus bombers, ten Noxus bombers in the air,” Vi joined in.
It was as if someone had lit a fire behind Jayce’s eyes. He sat up, looking around the table as he carried on the song, slamming his fist on the table slowly as his voice grew louder and louder. “And the army from Piltover shot one down, the army from Piltover shot one down!”
Other cadets had their attentions drawn to the crew’s table as the chorus grew louder.
“And the army from Piltover, army from Piltover, army from Piltover shot one down!”
The first verse conceded with every person in the pub, patron and employee alike, chanting the lyrics. They looped through the ballad until there were no Noxus bombers in the air, no more verses left to sing, nothing else between them and the Noxians, the calm before the impending storm.
In their last moments of bliss, the draftees took their final stand before they would succumb to the war machine.

On her final night in Piltover before shipping off to training, Caitlyn wasn’t sure what had overcome her to invite Vi over to her place.
Everything was set in order, just the way Caitlyn liked it; her room was all packed up with her belongings to be retrieved by her parents once she was gone, her transport sorted for the next morning to take her off to basic training, her final goodbyes said to all of her housemates. The life she’d spent so long wishing for and building in Piltover now lay in neatly stacked boxes in the hallway and embedded in empty words spoken in the living room they’d once all joked around and laughed in.
But now, as she laid with her head in Vi’s lap, sprawled across her bed, both girls gazing up at the ceiling, she realised this is where she’d wanted to be all along.
And mentally kicked herself for only just coming to that conclusion the night before they all went their separate ways.
“What are you thinking about?” Vi asked softly. A calloused hand ran through Cait’s dark hair as the other propped her neck up.
Caitlyn exhaled slowly out of her nose. “Everything.”
“Hm,” Vi grunted in agreement.
“It just- it all happened so quickly, you know? The announcements, then the Council address, then the draft, it was just-“
“A lot to take in.” Vi finished the sentence for her. “I know. One minute we’re dumb college students, the next we’re being trusted with loaded weapons and told to go fight in a foreign land. It’s crazy.”
Caitlyn leant back into the other girl’s touch, wanting to sink into Vi’s warmth forever. She trailed her fingers absentmindedly over Vi’s calf. “There was so much I wanted to do,” she whispered.
Vi hesitated for a moment. “Me too,” she finally admitted. “I mean, we both knew we’d have to serve at some point, just wish it was during peacetime, y’know?”
“Yeah.” Cait fought back against the lump forming in her throat. She took in the opportunity to soak in her bare room, barren of any indication of life, as empty as the two girls now sitting in it.
“I wish you’d called me,” Vi stated into the open air.
Caitlyn sat up, pulling her head away from her companion’s hand, and turned to look her in the face. “There’s nothing I regret more.”
“What’s going to happen to us?” said Vi. Her voice was barely an octave above a whisper. She sat up to see Caitlyn better, fingers dancing along the base of her spine.
“I don’t know,” Cait admitted in defeat. “It’s all so new to me. They might not let us have our phones, let alone-“
Caitlyn was cut off by a pair of lips pressing firmly against hers. Vi had launched forward, taking the opportunity to seal one final kiss before the world caved in. She cupped Caitlyn’s cheek, gently brushing a thumb over soft tender flesh as she continued their embrace, letting everything else around them fade to black.
It was Vi who pulled away in the end. She pressed their foreheads together, a hand still sealed against Cait’s skin, trying to embed the feeling deep into her cortex before it would be whisked away forever. “I’m sorry,” she finally said. “I just needed to do that one last time.”
Caitlyn soaked in the words for a moment before reconnecting their lips in a frenzy. This time, there was something else underlying beneath the kisses: hunger, desire, desperation. Cait took the lead as she ran her tongue over the bottom of Vi’s lips, begging to enter before slipping inside her mouth and connecting their tongues together in a brutal clash for dominance.
The air around them grew thick with their heavy breathing as Vi pushed them both further, dropping Cait’s back down on the bed softly before sliding in between her legs and hovering above her. Vi began moving her hips ever so slightly, grinding into Caitlyn’s soft core, and a muffled moan escaped from the girl’s throat and through the adorable gap in her two front teeth.
As Vi’s cold hands roamed down south, playing with the hem of Caitlyn’s T-shirt, running fingertips along her midriff, the girl beneath broke their kiss suddenly and looked up with doe eyes. “Vi?”
“Yeah?” Vi snapped her hand away immediately. “Are you okay? Is this okay?”
“Yes, of course,” Caitlyn responded, flustered. “I’ve just- I’ve not done this before.”
“What, you’ve never kissed someone?” Vi flashed her canines. “Because my last memory of us on this bed begs to differ.”
“No,” Caitlyn giggled. “I’ve not-“ she caught her breath. “I’ve never taken anything further than that.”
Oh.
“Oh.” Vi began to retreat, slowly slinking away from her. “That’s okay, we don’t have to-“
“No.” Caitlyn’s legs were quick off the mark, wrapping across Vi’s glutes, pushing her back into her heat as she pulled Vi in again. “No, I want it to be you.”
“Are you sure?” Concern danced within Vi’s stormy eyes, her expression soft and welcoming.
Brushing her lips back to the girl’s above, Caitlyn mouthed, “Positive,” before reconnecting their mouths yet again.
Vi worked slowly over Caitlyn, displaying a delicate intimacy, as if Caitlyn were fragile and would break beneath her. She pulled off the other girl’s T-shirt and discarded it to the floor before working at the clip of her bra just as she’d done the other night before being interrupted. Peeling the undergarment off, Vi worked her way down with her tongue, planting hot wet open-mouth kisses along every square inch of Cait’s exposed skin, a trail of saliva following in her wake. Upon reaching the other girl’s perfect breasts, she took a soft nipple into her mouth, gently nibbling and sucking whilst the fingers on her other hand brought the other bud erect to attention.
Caitlyn’s hips buckled up into Vi’s, relishing in the pleasure, stifled moans slipping past her sweet lips. Everything that had happened that past week, all the announcements, all the letters, dissipated away, as she focused on the moment with Vi and the growing heat burning in her core.
While still paying careful attention to Caitlyn’s tit in her mouth, Vi’s hands expertly pulled off the other girl’s leggings and underwear, chucking them haphazardly on the floor. A hand snaked down and up the inside of her thigh, creeping dangerously closer and closer to Cait’s folds.
A shudder ran through Vi’s body as she felt Cait’s entrance, warm and wet with slick. She hesitated for a moment before curling a single finger inside the girl.
Caitlyn felt a small, slightly uncomfortable pressure at first, but soon eased into the movement with soft moans, pleasure quickly taking over. Vi slipped a second finger into her and started to pump harder and faster, and Cait could feel her climax building up with each flick.
Feeling Caitlyn’s walls closing around her hand, Vi stuck her thumb into her mouth before pushing another hand down, meeting the girl’s throbbing clit. She drew small light circles over the nub, sending shockwaves through Cait’s entire body, energy building faster and faster in the pool of her stomach.
“Fuck- Vi, I’m gonna-“ she managed through whimpers.
Vi’s eyes shot up to watch Cait unravel beneath her. Her entire body tensed up with euphoria, ecstasy tingling through every orifice, as she rode Vi’s fingers through her high. She gripped Vi’s bulging shoulders for support as the fingers were painstakingly removed from inside her.
Catching her breath, Caitlyn allowed herself to sink back into her soft silky pillowset, her chest rising and falling steadily. Vi crawled up beside her and offered her an arm to lie in. Caitlyn took the offer gratefully and cuddled up into the nook of the other girl’s neck.
They lay there for a moment, both panting and gathering themselves, Vi drawing small patterns onto Cait’s bare skin.
“Not bad?” Vi asked with a playful smile.
“Not bad at all.” Caitlyn cupped Vi’s face and placed a tender kiss on her cheek. She wanted to melt into Vi’s warmth forever, keep this moment frozen in time for the both of them, relishing in each other’s heat and company.
Cailyn waited until Vi’s breathing had slowed into a steady rhythm as the other girl slipped into slumber. Then, unprotected from the deafening silence crushing her, a few wet salty tears slipped down her cheek.
