Chapter 6
Nakahara turned around and faced her girlfriend, Kunikida, who was standing there mortified. Guilt swept through Dazai, she didn't intend this to happen. She didn't want Nakahara to kiss her. It just happened. She wanted to tell this all to Kunikida, but she looked so horrified. Dazai didn't want to ruin Kunikida and Nakahara's relationship any further.
"I'm sorry. I kissed her." Dazai spoke up.
Sadness was evident on Kunikida's face when she responded, "I know that's not true." She looked over at Nakahara who had been oddly quiet. The ginger looked annoyed, like she knew what she had been doing was wrong, but she didn't think she would be caught. "I love you, Chuuya, and you know I'd be okay with this if you told me." She stepped towards her girlfriend and put a hand on her shoulder.
"I wanted to test the waters first." Nakahara responded, looking off to the side. Dazai stood there in confusion, but she didn't want to intervene and make the matters worse.
Kunikida looked hurt and betrayed, Dazai could see that on her face. "That's alright." The blonde responded with a bitter smile on her face. Dazai felt incredibly guilty. She hated seeing Kunikida look like this, and she knew Nakahara felt the same.
"So are you okay with it?" Nakahara asked softly, finally looking up at Kunikida. Her girlfriend nodded, and they both smiled at each other. Dazai was beyond confused, and she felt like she didn't belong, so she stepped towards the door. Before she could leave, a hand grabbed her sleeve. "Dazai, I really like you." Nakahara confessed.
Panic flew through Dazai as she frantically looked between the two girls. Kunikida didn't seem upset anymore, nor did she look alarmed. She took that as a sign to honestly respond. "I like you too," she started, "but I like Kunikida too." Dazai felt her face heat up. This was beyond embarrassing for her.
"We both like you, Dazai." Kunikida clarified. Hearing her name from Kunikida made Dazai's heart beat quicken.
Nakahara laughed, but was cut off by the school bell, and with that Dazai was entangled in the relationship of Chuuya Nakahara and Doppo Kunikida; however, she wasn't complaining one bit.
