House Rivalries And Why They're Bullshit

This changes everything.Or Draco's character development could've originated from a multitude of places. The Real Menaces Of Hogwarts

Sebastian Lunar was right, Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs are a terrifying combination. Draco never should've let Leo and Gail meet, he was going to regret this for the rest of his life. Currently the two were discussing runes, or more specifically, strength enhancing runes.

"Yeah you'd be able to punch through walls, or at least cause some severe structural damage," Leo explained, gesturing at his open notebook.

"That's sick! When do you think it'll be ready to be used?" Gail asked, her hair a dark green today, leaning over and studying Leo's notes.

"Probably by the end of the week," Leo mused.

"Think I could use one?"

"Yeah! I like you Gail,"

"I like you too! I think this is the start of a great friendship," Gail beamed, sticking her hand out.

"I think so too!" Leo stuck his hand out as well. Gail and Leo's hands connected and Draco's stomach dropped. "Aw, I don't think Draco appreciates our new friendship," Leo pouted.

"Aw c'mon lil D, there's no need to be jealous,"," Gail chuckled. "You're still my favorite,"

Leo gasped dramatically, slapping a hand to his chest. "Fine, I see how it is," Leo stood up and started to walk away.

"Aw Leo! You know you're special to me as well!" Gail cackled.

Leo flipped Gail off, laughing as he walked away. He had a class to get to after all.

While Draco was thankful that all of his friends got a long with each other, he also regretted introducing them to each other. Draco, Leo, Luna, and Gail sat at one of the many tables in the library.

"If you add this part won't it make it even stronger?" Gail asked, pointing to a spot in the book they were all sharing.

"It would," Luna agreed. "However, the backlash onto you would be tremendous,"

"I could add this little piece, it should absorb the shock and dismantle it," Leo mused, turning to the page he needed.

"Could you make it so it sends the energy out like Black Panther's suit?" Gail questioned.

Leo's head snapped up and he stared at Gail. "You know who Black Panther is?" he asked incredulously.

"I live by a muggle comic book store," Gail explained.

"Oh that makes sense," Leo went back to making notes in his notebook. "Anyways, I think I can do that, it might take me a bit longer though,"

"Fine with me. As long as I get to punch through a wall I don't care how long it takes," Gail smirked.

Draco looked on in mounting horror as he watched the beginning of the fall of Hogwarts. Eventually their conversation turned to the execution of some prank. "Oh no, pranks are for immature children,"

"We are immature children," Gail deadpanned.

"Yeah," Leo hummed, carefully scribbling on a spare piece of parchment.

Draco opened his mouth to retort, but before he could, Leo sprung out of his seat and slapped the piece of parchment onto his chest. Draco didn't think anything had happened until he saw his three friends trying to hide their smiles. He frantically looked down to see a red and gold tie instead of the correct green and silver one.

Leo chuckled at Draco's affronted look. "Don't worry, it changes back in twelve hours,"

"What is it?" Draco asked, holding his arms out as if he was afraid to touch the Gryffindor uniform.

"It's a rune that changes your uniform to that of your rival house. Cool innit?" Leo beamed at Draco.

"That's one word for it," he mumbled.

"Oi, teach me how to do it and then we'll distribute them to everyone at breakfast tomorrow," Gail demanded.

"A magic circle would be more efficient," Luna stated.

Leo grinned at Luna before turning his attention back to Gail. "We make an expansion spell circle that expands the range of just one rune," Leo continued Luna's thought.

"You two are geniuses!" Gail exclaimed. "Why do you know so much about runes anyways Leo?"

Gail, Draco, and Luna all watched at Leo tensed slightly before he replied. "I just find them interesting," Leo's smile seemed a little strained, but his friends kept their mouths shut. "Alright, there shouldn't be anyone in the Great Hall, so if we want to do this it's now or never," Leo threw his belongings into his bag and quickly stood up.

"Draco looked at his friend in slight concern. "Leo-"

"C'mon, lets try and finish this before curfew," Leo interrupted.

Draco sighed before walking out of the library with his friends as they made their way to the Great Hall.

"So we'll all be effected as well?" Gail asked.

"Yeah, if we're not then people will put it together that we're involved somehow," Leo, covered in ink smudges, answered.

"Makes sense,"

"Draco can you cast the disillusionment charm once Luna finishes the teachers table?" Leo asked.

"Sure," Draco replied.

Luna was currently under Snape's chair attaching the last color changing rune. (The runes needed to be different for the professors.) "You can cast now Draco," she smiled, crawling out from under the table.

Draco cast the charm as the group of friends exited the room.

"And now we wait," Leo smirked evilly and rubbed his ink stained hands together.

It is true. Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws are the true menaces of Hogwarts. Best keep that to yourself however. It will be denied. The reason very few know of this truth is because they're smart enough not to get caught. Every time Daniel or Henry got a detention it was because they involved Oliver and i into whatever they were planning.

The next morning saw the four friends sat at their respective house tables in the wrong uniform. Each one trying to hide their smiles at the chaos they had caused. Draco made eye contact with each of his friends, attempting to hide their laughs. Sebastian Lunar was right, Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs are the true menaces of Hogwarts.
