Chapter 22

Nicole threw the bones from the rabbit she had just eaten into the camp fire. She was deep in thought about the days events and wasn’t paying any attention to her friends conversation around her.

After Julian had made the introduction and she had been revealed the room full of Male Pack Alphas had been in shock but some of them didn’t believe it even if their wolves submitted to this strangely powerful woman.

“Its a legend!” One man shouted and others agreed.

“the First Fenrir Pack died out centuries ago!” another had yelled and some laughed in relief, desperate for anything to disprove the woman’s story. She might be the only female Alpha most of them had met but her power meant they could lose their own positions.

Others also began to make jokes and some even started mocking her as Moody shouted that she had admitted to him that she was nothing but a Rogue.

Nicole rolled her eyes as the men all began to laugh loudly and one man thanked Julian, Curtis and Nedley for lightening the mood with the joke

“I needed that laugh!” One man chuckled before Cryderman told Nicole to leave but the redheaded woman stood her ground and levelled him with a cold stare.

“If you don’t leave right now I will have you removed. You are not allowed inside the city walls.” The head Councillor scoffed, ignoring his wolf who was snarling at him to swallow his pride. She was too powerful.

“You are welcome to attempt to removed her but I wouldn’t recommend it.” Julian grinned and his jovial confidence made some of the other Alpha pause. One brutish man grabbed her by the wrist and tried to shove her back in the direction of the door but Nicole lifted the man easily with a fist around his throat and sent him flying through the air into some of the other men who fell back as the others gawked at the her, gobsmacked by the woman’s strength. Even the strongest Alphas couldn’t do that. She tossed him like he weighed barely anything.

“can’t say you weren’t warned.” Nedley chuckled as the men stumbled back up to their feet, the Alpha who came at Nicole groaned painfully as he stood up and he gave the redheaded woman a small bow, submitting and accepting his defeat respectfully and Nicole acknowledged his act with a slight nod before she looked back at Cryderman.

“I am the Last of the First Fenrir.” She said, a deep growl in her voice. “Believe me or don’t, I truly don’t care but I am a Pack Alpha and it’s my land -my home- that bastard is hiding in and I want him out!” Nicole’s eyes flashed gold and she took a step closer to the men who all backed up nervously. “So drop the attitude and don’t fuck with me.” She snarled.

Cryderman and the other men all nodded vigorously. All of them were in terrified awe.

“Good.” Nicole said before patting the chubby, bald man’s cheek. “We move out tomorrow. Send scouts out to meet anyone coming to join us to make there way to Red wolf Mountain and meet us on the eastern side of the mountain.” She ordered before she lead them to the War table in the corner where they began to plan.

Back at the camp fire Nicole wiped her hands on her breeches and sighed. Rua nudged her.

‘You should sleep.’ The wolf said and Nicole knew she was right. She had barely slept since they had left the Angel Pack. She tried but she couldn’t get comfortable nor in her quietest moments could she stop her thoughts from turning to Waverly. She missed the omega’s warm body pressed against her, her sweet apple pie scent mixed with her own as they slept.

Nicole really missed Waverly.

Her stomach twisted horribly when she was pulled out of her thoughts by a loud bang followed by laughter and looked over her shoulder to see Champ at another fire with his idiot friends and the women they had hired to warm their beds for the night and her fist clenched.

‘he is not worthy of her.’ Rua growled.

‘No he isn’t.’ Nicole growled back, still unaware that Waverly had finished with the Male Alpha, even if the omega had chosen her bed the night before they left and she could be with who she liked but Nicole couldn’t understand why he would ever want to be with anyone but Waverly Charles.

She huffed to herself before she got up with her tankard and refilled it from the barrel of wine nearby and gulped it down, trying to wash the bitter taste in her mouth and went to her tent. She crawled into her cold, hard nest and hoped the wine would warm her and help her drift off to sleep.

She slept fitfully and felt stiff and sore when she decided to get up. She went to the nearby creek to wash and prepare for the day’s journey. She was alone at first but soon she heard the snap of a twig underfoot and smelled a female beta’s floral scent. The Alpha looked up to see a beautiful woman, about her age with darker skin and a slim, tall figure, naked, obviously here for the same reason as Nicole.

The redhead turned back to continue her washing as the beta came closer.

“Mind if I Join you?” the woman asked sweetly. Nicole didn’t and shook her head. “I’m Shae from the Vegas Pack.”

“nice to meet you.” The Alpha said gruffly. She didn’t want to talk.

“Is it true what everyone is saying?” the woman asked as she sat down, close to Nicole and made sure the Alpha could see everything on display. Nicole had to admit that the woman was gorgeous but she wasn’t who she wanted.

“Dunno, what are they saying?” Nicole asked as she scrubbed herself. She hoped the woman would take the hint and leave her alone but instead the woman leaned closer to her, her smile faltering slightly when the Alpha backed up.

“That you are the Alpha of the Red Wolf Pack.” Shae purred but her smile turned victorious when she saw the redhead tense. “I also heard your wolf was Magnificent... want to show it to me?”

Nicole huffed angrily and washed herself off, ignoring the other woman as Rua told her to run the beta away. The wolf wouldn’t tolerate any other woman trying to distract the Alpha away from Waverly. As far as Rua was concerned the omega was the only one for them.

“Do you have a mate?” the beta decided to ask next and Nicole bit back a growl. The Alpha’s mind went straight to the omega she left behind and she felt a wave of sadness crash over her. She knew Waverly wasn’t her true mate despite what her wolf and her wolf wished and she was free to do as she pleased, as was the omega but Goddess, she couldn’t even if she wanted to.

Without saying anything she stood and walked off, away from the woman who was frowning at her back while Rua bounced in Nicole’s mind. Much to their annoyance Shae got up and followed them but she froze when Nicole snarled over her shoulder.

“hey, I’m so sorry.” The beta woman whimpered as she exposed her throat. “I didnt mean to pry, my father told me about you and I got over excited. I’ve never met a female Alpha and the first fenrir were nothing but myths to me until today. I didn’t mean to offend you.”

Nicole sighed and her shoulder sagged, she was so tired. She nodded to acknowledge the beta’s words before she went back to her tent, dressed and crawled into her bed.
