Prologue
SOMEWHERE...
"Ugh..." Groaned a Blonde person as he began stirring up awake. "What happened..."
As he woke up, he began to register his surroundings... or what it was supposed to be. For as far as his eyes can see, everything around him was just a pitch black void, and he was floating in it. Whether he was in the middle of it, he knew not.
"Where am I..." He asked himself.
Then he heard another groan to his side. Turning his head, he was met with another blonde, whose face was almost identical to his own.
"Lumine." He called out to his twin, who had now fully woke up, albeit still groggy.
"Aether...?" She called back. Then her eyes widened as she registered her surroundings. "Wait, where are we?"
"That's what I wanna know, too." He replied, but smiled nonetheless. "But hey, at least we have each other."
"Yeah..." She agreed. "Like we always have..."
For as long as they could remember, they've been by themselves their entire lives. They never knew their parents, but from what they've been told by the people working at the orphanage they stayed at, they died when they were young, so it's no surprise why they have no memory of them.
But despite that, they have been able to have fun with their lives. Once they turned 16, they left the orphanage and just went wherever their feet would take them, be it a mall or even a forest, they were always open to go on an adventure.
It's what they love to do.
Even if they didn't have any family, or even jobs that pay well, they have been able to get through with their lives as anyone else would do, in their own way, of course.
But even so, they have no memory of how they ended up in this seemingly infinite void.
All they remember was that they found themselves on the side of the road atop a hill, enjoying the view as the sun set. Anything beyond that, they had no recollection of.
They were sure of it. After all, the clothes they were wearing were the same ones they were wearing until... this happened.
"So... what now?" Lumine asked, unsure of what to make of the situation. As much as she loved adventuring, this isn't what she had in mind.
"I can answer that." Said a mysterious voice.
The twins went on full alert as a light appeared from the darkness of the void.
"Who's there?!" Aether demanded as he somehow managed to float in front of his twin, his brotherly instincts kicking in to protect her.
"You have no reason to fear, young ones. I mean you no harm." The light got nearer, now in front of the twins, who were still wary of it.
"Who are you?" Aether asked once more.
To answer his question, the light died down, and they could make out a shape forming... to their surprise, however, the voice belonged to... a talking Llama with a ring around its abdomen, with four jewels attached to it.
The twins were left dumbfounded upon seeing the creature, not knowing who this was or where it came from.
"I am that which humans call Arceus." The creature now known as Arceus introduced itself.
"Arceus?" The twins repeated. The name sounded familiar, but they couldn't put their fingers on where they heard it from.
"That is my name." Arceus confirmed.
"Ok, then..." Aether cleared his throat, readying himself to speak with this... Arceus fellow. "I'm Aether, and this is my Twin Sister Lumine. Uh... pleasure to meet you?" He greeted.
"Indeed. The pleasure is all mine." Arceus said. "I believe you have questions. Questions that I will happily answer."
"Yeah, we do..." Aether said. "First off, where are we?"
"You ask where you are, and not what happened beforehand?" Arceus asked back. "Do you not recall what happened before you found yourself here?"
The twins looked at each other, confused. All they remember was they were on the side of the road, enjoying the view as the sun set...
And as they were leaving, they were so lost in the beauty of the world, that they could only vaguely recall the sound of... a... horn...
"Oh." Realization hit them.
"Do you remember now?" Arceus asked them.
"... Yeah." Aether said sadly.
"To think we..." Lumine tried her best not to cry at the revelation. "To think we died..."
"To a truck of all things..." Aether continued, looking down.
Truck-kun strikes again, folks.
"Yes, that is indeed unfortunate..." Arceus said with sympathy.
"So is this the afterlife?" Lumine asked, looking up at the talking Llama.
"Well... yes, but actually no." Arceus told them. "You see, this is but a place only very few have entered."
"So then where are we?" Aether asked.
"Where you are matters not." Arceus said. "Where you will end up is the the question."
"Where we'll end up?" The twins asked in unison.
"Weren't we dead?" Lumine asked.
"That is an undeniable fact. However, I am offering to give the two of you a second chance in life." Arceus placed the offer down. "My reasons for doing so, I shall keep to myself."
If dying wasn't a big enough shock for them, then this is.
"Reincarnation is real?!" They both shouted.
Arceus simply replied with "Yes." as if it's the most normal thing.
The twins could hardly believe it. Not only would did they die, but now a talking Llama was giving them an offer they couldn't ever think to refuse.
But... "Is there a catch?" Aether needed to ask. For all they knew, this could be a trick, or this White and Gold Llama had ulterior motives.
"There is none." Arceus denied truthfully. "Other than bragging rights, that is..." It muttered.
"What was that?" Lumine asked.
"Nothing." Arceus quickly shot back. "Be that as it may, from what I can tell, the two of you yearn for the thrill of adventure. Therefore, I shall send the two of you to a world where you'll be able to have as many adventures as you desire."
Yep, the twins definitely have no reason to refuse now.
"So?" Arceus asked. Under his serious gaze, he wanted them to accept.
"Deal." The twins agreed.
If Arceus had a mouth, he'd be smiling right now. But the look in his eyes said it all.
He was happy with their response.
"Excellent. Now, sign here." A gigantic piece of paper materialized before them, the bottom of which having two miniature lines in contrast to the paper's size, which was where they will sign. Besides the paper, two quills and some gold ink also appeared. "This is the final step before I send the both of you to another world."
For their convenience, Arceus wrote the contract's contents in a language they could understand.
There weren't any malicious or signs of ulterior motives in the contract, from what they read. All that's written is for them to accept this as a gift, have fun, and most importantly, don't die. That was something written in gold and green ink, so it's obvious it was Arceus that wrote it.
The rest was just a bunch of doodles of a Blue Dinosaur and a Black and Gold Dragon, drawn poorly, as if they only used their mouths to draw.
There was also a message written and pink ink that said 'STAY OUT OF MY SPACE!!!' and had arrows pointing at the Blue Dinosaur.
They gave it questionable looks, but thought nothing of it. Probably a bunch of kids, or so they thought.
That made Aether ask the question he forgot to ask before they agreed to the contract.
"Just... what is this world about?" Aether couldn't help but ask. Even more so, he couldn't help but wonder where he heard the name 'Arceus' from.
"This world... is inhabited far and wide by creatures known as Pokemon." Arceus stated.
That made the twins' eyes widen in realization.
"Wait... Pokemon?!" Lumine exclaimed.
"Now I remember where I heard your name from... YOU'RE the God of Pokemon! Arceus!" Aether pointed out.
Arceus couldn't help but chuckle at these kids. "Yes, that is me."
"But how?!" Lumine asked. "How are you-"
"Real?" Arceus finished. "Reality can be anything, as far as the multiverse in concerned."
They didn't question about the multiverse. Arceus was proof enough as it is.
"Holy crap..." Aether laughed at the absurdity of their situation.
Lumine was smiling in disbelief. "I have no words..."
"And you have no need. You need only your eyes and your spirits, for this world will be the ideal world in which you will enjoy your second chance in life." Arceus stated.
Without another word, Aether and Lumine signed the contract. After they did, the contract glowed bright, and it disappeared.
"That settles it. As per our contract, I shall send you to another world." Arceus said. "If you have any more questions, speak now, or forever hold your peace."
"Yeah, I got one." Aether raised his hand. "So, this world... the Pokemon world... we're really going there?"
"Yes, but not the one you're familiar with." Arceus told them. "I am sending you to an alternate universe of the world you know of. A universe which I had the aid of another God in creating."
"I see..." Aether nodded. He and Lumine shouldn't be too surprised of the existence of another God out there. They were already in the presence of one, after all.
"And before you ask, you shall retain your former appearances. While your original bodies have physically died, it isn't too much of a problem to recreate them." Arceus said.
The twins were glad to hear that.
"Furthermore..." Arceus continued. "Because I am feeling generous, I shall give you a chance to select which Pokemon you desire from the given choices. But you can only pick one each."
With that, another bright light appeared, and before them appeared some bubbles containing Pokemon which they were familiar with. Said Pokemon were asleep.
"Your choices are between Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Pikachu, and Eevee. And mind you, these Pokemon are special, as I will personally create the ones you choose. Choose wisely." Arceus told them.
What Arceus meant by special, they thought it was probably because they were stronger than they would normally be.
"In that case... I'll go with this one." Aether pointed at his chosen Pokemon, which was Pikachu. His mind was made up the moment he saw Pikachu.
"And I'll go with this one!" Lumine pointed at her chosen Pokemon, which was Eevee. Just like Aether, her mind was made up the moment she laid eyes on the Evolution Pokemon.
"Pikachu and Eevee... Very well." Arceus nodded, satisfied with their choices.
With that, the other three Pokemon disappeared, and the bubbles around Pikachu and Eevee popped with a bright golden light, which meant that Arceus had finished creating them. The two Pokemon floated towards the twins, as both of them held their respective Pokemon close.
Both Pokemon were still asleep, however. Nonetheless, they smiled brightly the moment their Pokemon were given to them. This all felt too good to be real, but it was.
"We couldn't thank you enough, Arceus." The twins bowed in unison, showing their respect and gratitude to Arceus for giving them a fresh start in a new life.
"You can thank me by enjoying your lives the way you want, so long as you don't stray into the wrong path." Arceus stated. "And another thing..."
Another pair of bright lights appeared, not in front of them, but in their pockets. They both reached into their pockets with their free hands, and fished out their phones. To their surprise, their phones have changed shape.
Their phones now had a resemblance to Arceus' appearance.
"I have upgraded your phones to suit your needs, as well as for your convenience." Arceus informed them. "Any more questions?"
"None." They said, shaking their heads. Their hearts were racing with anticipation and excitement.
"Then we are done here." Arceus stated with a nod. "I know not of when we'll meet again, but I look forward to it."
Aether and Lumine's bodies then began glowing a golden color. They looked at Arceus with smiles on their faces. "THANK YOU!" They loudly expressed their gratitude.
Arceus simply nodded as it watched the twins be sent to the other world with their first Pokemon.
"Now, time to brag to that space lizard..." Arceus told himself as it disappeared to who-knows-where.
