Chapter 15
As Quinn walked through the school hallways, she couldn’t help but smile at the sight of the decorations hanging from the walls. The school had gone all out—streamers in their school colors, glittery banners that read “Prom Night,” and balloons everywhere. Students were buzzing with excitement, chattering about their plans for the big night.
However, Sebastian, walking beside her, rolled his eyes as he glanced around. “This is ridiculous,” he muttered, looking at the decorations with distaste. “It’s like they just threw a bunch of sparkly stuff everywhere and called it a party.”
Quinn laughed lightly, nudging him with her elbow. “It’s prom, Sebastian. People are excited. You can’t blame them for wanting everything to look nice.”
“I can,” he shot back with a smirk. “I mean, it’s a high school dance. Why go all out like it’s some kind of fancy gala? It’s not like anyone’s expecting it to be that memorable.”
Quinn rolled her eyes playfully. “I don’t know, I kind of like the excitement of it all. It’s kind of fun seeing everyone get all dressed up and ready for it. Besides, you’re going, aren’t you?”
Sebastian sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Yeah, I’m going. Because Blaine and you are going, so it’s not like I have a choice.” He paused and shot her a knowing look. “I’m just not really into the whole prom vibe, you know? The cheesy music, the slow dancing… it’s all a bit much for me.”
Quinn smiled and nudged him again. “Maybe you’ll be surprised. It’s not all that bad. It’s a chance to let loose for one night. Besides, don’t you want to be there with Blaine?”
Sebastian gave her a sidelong glance, his lips curling into a half-smile. “Yeah, okay, fine. I’ll go, I’ll dance, and I’ll pretend it’s not the most awkward night of my life.”
Quinn chuckled and teased him a little. “You’ll see, it won’t be that bad. Just try not to roll your eyes too much while everyone else is enjoying it, alright?”
He groaned dramatically but couldn’t help but laugh along with her. “Fine. But only for Blaine. And… okay, I guess I don’t mind seeing you and Rachel all dressed up.”
“That’s more like it,” Quinn teased, grinning at him. “Now, who knows, maybe you’ll even end up having a good time.”
Sebastian shook his head, trying to suppress a smile. “I doubt it. But I’ll make it through for the sake of everyone else. Let’s just hope the music doesn’t completely ruin it.”
“Deal,” Quinn said, still smiling. “But hey, it’s prom. You never know what might happen.”
They continued down the hallway, Sebastian still grumbling under his breath about how ridiculous he thought the whole thing was. But deep down, despite his gruff exterior, Quinn knew he’d end up having more fun than he wanted to admit. The excitement of prom was contagious, and even Sebastian couldn’t resist its pull.

The auditorium was quiet when Quinn stepped inside, a little confused but intrigued. She had been heading to meet Rachel after school, but Rachel had told her to meet her in the auditorium without giving any hints about what was going on. The lights were dimmed, and the stage was set up with soft lighting, casting a warm glow over everything. It felt almost magical, like something was about to happen, but Quinn had no idea what.
As she walked further into the space, she spotted Rachel standing near the center of the stage, holding a microphone. Quinn’s heart skipped a beat as she saw the nervous but excited look on Rachel’s face. Her girlfriend was standing tall, her hair perfectly styled, dressed casually yet with an air of confidence that Quinn found endearing. But there was something different about Rachel’s presence tonight—something purposeful.
“Rach?” Quinn called softly, a mix of curiosity and confusion in her voice.
Rachel turned around, a bright smile spreading across her face. She motioned for Quinn to come closer. “Hey, you made it!” she said, her voice almost too cheerful, but it was clear she was trying to hide the nerves bubbling beneath the surface.
Quinn raised an eyebrow. “I wasn’t sure what to expect when you told me to come here. What’s going on?”
Rachel chuckled nervously, stepping forward as she adjusted the microphone. “Well, I’ve got something special planned. Just… give me a second, okay?”
Before Quinn could respond, the soft sound of a guitar began playing from the speakers. The notes were gentle at first, a familiar melody that Quinn instantly recognized. It was a song Rachel had always liked—a classic love song that spoke about deep feelings, about the kind of love that lasted and grew stronger over time. The music swelled as Rachel’s voice followed, singing the lyrics with a tenderness that made Quinn’s heart race. She had no idea where this was going, but she couldn’t take her eyes off Rachel.
Rachel’s voice filled the auditorium, every word imbued with emotion. Quinn couldn’t help but smile, her heart swelling with pride and warmth as she listened to the lyrics. Rachel had always been talented, but hearing her sing a song with so much meaning, so much love behind it, made Quinn realize just how much Rachel cared for her.
As the song neared its end, Rachel stepped closer to Quinn, her eyes locking onto hers with an intensity that made Quinn’s stomach flutter. The last few notes hung in the air, soft and poignant. When the music finally stopped, the silence in the room felt almost too loud.
Rachel took a deep breath, her voice steady but her hands trembling ever so slightly as she spoke.
“Quinn,” she started, her gaze unwavering. “I know we’ve talked about prom before, but I wanted to do this… properly. To ask you in a way that’s just for us.” She paused, stepping even closer. “Will you go to prom with me?”
Quinn’s breath caught in her throat. She hadn’t been expecting this at all—not in the way Rachel was doing it, with the song, the heartfelt request. Her heart beat faster, emotions swirling inside her. She had never felt more loved, more understood, than she did right at that moment.
For a moment, Quinn was silent, trying to find the right words. She looked at Rachel, seeing the vulnerability in her eyes. Rachel had put herself out there, and Quinn couldn’t help but feel incredibly lucky to have her in her life.
Finally, she smiled, her voice soft but certain. “Yes,” Quinn said, her heart full of warmth. “I’d love to go to prom with you.”
Rachel’s face lit up, relief and joy flooding her expression. She stepped forward, wrapping her arms around Quinn in a tight hug. “I’m so glad,” she whispered into Quinn’s ear. “I’ve been wanting to do that for so long.”
Quinn chuckled, pulling back slightly to look at Rachel. “I had no idea you’d do something like this, but I’m glad you did.”
Rachel smiled mischievously. “I wanted it to be a surprise.”
As they stood there, the weight of the moment sinking in, Quinn realized just how much this moment meant to both of them. It wasn’t just about prom or a fancy dance; it was about the bond they shared, the way Rachel cared enough to express it in such a personal, beautiful way. Quinn had never felt more certain about anything. This was right.

Blaine was standing at his locker, his mind somewhere else as he flipped through the pages of his notebook, his fingers absentmindedly tracing over the words. He hadn’t even noticed Sebastian sneak up behind him until he felt a pair of hands gently cover his eyes.
“Guess who?” a familiar voice whispered in his ear, low and playful.
Blaine’s heart skipped a beat. “Sebastian?” he asked, though it was more of a guess than a question. He smiled, feeling the warmth of his boyfriend’s hands over his face.
“Of course,” Sebastian replied with a grin, his voice teasing as he moved closer. “Now, no peeking. Come with me.”
Blaine’s curiosity piqued as Sebastian gently guided him forward, his hands still covering Blaine’s eyes. “Where are we going?” Blaine asked, a mix of confusion and excitement bubbling up inside him.
“It’s a surprise,” Sebastian said cryptically, a mischievous tone in his voice. “Just trust me.”
They walked through the halls together, Sebastian expertly weaving through the crowd, leading Blaine without giving anything away. Blaine tried to catch glimpses of their surroundings, but Sebastian’s grip never wavered, blocking his view. He felt a little giddy, a little nervous, but he trusted Sebastian, so he didn’t argue.
Finally, they stopped. “Okay,” Sebastian said, stepping back slightly, letting his hands drop away from Blaine’s eyes. “You can open them now.”
Blaine blinked a few times as his vision adjusted, and he found himself standing in front of an empty classroom, the door propped open with a single, brightly colored balloon tied to the handle. The room was lit up with a few simple decorations—a string of fairy lights along the walls, some streamers, and a banner reading “Prom?” in bold letters.
Blaine’s breath caught in his throat as he took it all in. He hadn’t expected this. “Sebastian… what is all this?”
Sebastian stepped in front of him, a wide grin on his face. “I wanted to do something special for you,” he said softly. “You know, I’ve been thinking about it for a while, and I wanted to ask you something.”
Blaine’s heart was racing now, and he found himself smiling without even meaning to. He could feel the weight of the moment hanging in the air, the significance of what was happening sinking in. “What is it?” Blaine asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Sebastian’s grin widened as he took a step closer, his hands reaching out to gently hold Blaine’s. “Blaine, I know we’ve been through a lot. But I want to keep building something with you. So…” He paused, his eyes softening as he searched Blaine’s gaze. “Will you go to prom with me?”
Blaine felt a wave of warmth spread through him at Sebastian’s words, the sincerity in his voice making his heart flutter. He didn’t even have to think about it. “Yes,” he said instantly, his voice full of affection. “Of course, I will.”
Sebastian let out a soft laugh, a look of relief washing over his face. He pulled Blaine into a tight hug, holding him for a moment, their laughter mingling as they embraced.
“I’m glad,” Sebastian murmured against Blaine’s shoulder. “I promise it’ll be amazing.”
Blaine pulled back just enough to look into Sebastian’s eyes, a smile still on his face. “You make everything amazing,” he said softly, his voice full of emotion.
Sebastian leaned in, pressing a quick kiss to Blaine’s lips. “Then we’ll make prom something special,” he said, grinning even wider.
And for the first time in a while, Blaine felt a sense of excitement fill him, knowing that no matter what happened, he had someone who truly understood him—and now, they were going to share this moment together.
Blaine looked around the classroom again, still a little amazed at the effort Sebastian had put into decorating it. “I can’t believe you did all this without asking for permission,” he said, his tone a mix of amusement and disbelief. “Are you sure you want to risk getting caught?”
Sebastian just shrugged casually, a wicked grin spreading across his face. “Who’s gonna stop me?” he replied, his voice playful. “And besides, it’s for you, Blaine. I’d do anything to make this moment special.”
Blaine let out a soft laugh, shaking his head in disbelief. “You’re really something, you know that?”
Sebastian’s grin softened as he stepped closer to Blaine, taking his hand. “I just want to make things memorable. Prom only comes once, and I want you to remember it as something amazing.” He paused, his eyes glinting mischievously. “But hey, if we get caught, we’ll just have to say it was all your idea. You’re the one who wanted to be swept off your feet.”
Blaine raised an eyebrow, a teasing smile tugging at his lips. “Oh, sure. Blame me for your crazy, impulsive ideas,” he said sarcastically, though he didn’t mind one bit. “But I do appreciate the effort, even if you’re getting yourself into trouble.”
Sebastian chuckled, his fingers lightly brushing over Blaine’s hand. “Trouble has never looked so good,” he teased before leaning in closer. “But seriously, let’s enjoy this moment. I know it’s a little unconventional, but I think it’s perfect.”
Blaine met his gaze, his heart swelling at the sincerity in Sebastian’s eyes. “Yeah, you’re right,” he said softly. “This is perfect.”
Sebastian smiled, stepping even closer, their faces just inches apart. “I’m glad you think so,” he murmured, before leaning in to press a gentle kiss to Blaine’s lips. The kiss was slow, tender, a perfect mix of passion and affection.
As they pulled apart, Blaine gave him a teasing grin. “Okay, but for the record, we’re totally taking this down before anyone finds out, right?”
Sebastian laughed, his arm wrapping around Blaine’s waist. “Yeah, yeah, I’ll take it down eventually. But I’m enjoying it for now.”
Blaine chuckled and shook his head.

The classroom buzzed with the monotony of the teacher’s voice as the lesson dragged on. Quinn sat in the seat beside Blaine, tapping her pencil idly against her notebook. Blaine, slouched in his chair, had given up even pretending to take notes. Instead, he leaned over slightly, whispering, “How much longer do you think this is going to last?”
Quinn smirked, casting a quick glance at the clock. “Forever, apparently. I think time stops during this class.”
Blaine stifled a laugh, covering his mouth with his hand. “I can’t believe we’re stuck here. Did you even hear what she’s talking about?”
“Not a word,” Quinn whispered back, sliding her notebook toward Blaine. On it, she had scribbled a stick figure of their teacher holding a clock labeled “Eternal Torture.” Blaine snorted, his shoulders shaking as he tried to keep quiet.
“You’re going to get us caught,” Blaine teased, nudging her arm. “You know she has eyes like a hawk.”
“Please,” Quinn whispered with a smirk. “She hasn’t looked up from her notes in fifteen minutes. I could stand up and recite the alphabet backward, and she wouldn’t notice.”
Blaine bit his lip to keep from laughing again. “You’re terrible.”
“Maybe, but you’re still laughing,” Quinn shot back, her eyes gleaming with mischief. She grabbed her pen and scrawled on the corner of Blaine’s notebook: What’s more boring: this class or watching paint dry?
Blaine grabbed his pen and replied beneath it: Paint drying has more plot twists.
Quinn had to duck her head to hide her laughter, and Blaine grinned triumphantly. The two spent the rest of the class exchanging ridiculous doodles and jokes, their whispered conversation the only thing keeping them sane.
When the bell finally rang, Quinn stretched dramatically. “We survived. Barely.”
“Only because of your artistic renditions of eternal suffering,” Blaine teased as they packed up their things. “Want to sit together at lunch? I have some more material to roast Sebastian with.”
Quinn chuckled, slinging her bag over her shoulder. “You know I’m always in for that.” The two walked out together, still laughing, leaving the dull class behind them.

At lunch, Blaine and Quinn made their way to their usual table. The cafeteria buzzed with energy, and the smell of fries and pizza filled the air. Quinn plopped down in her seat, setting her tray in front of her, while Blaine slid into the spot beside her with his own.
“So,” Quinn started, popping a fry into her mouth, “what’s the plan for roasting Sebastian today?”
Blaine smirked, leaning closer like he was about to share some top-secret information. “Oh, I’ve got a good one. Did you know he tripped during lacrosse practice last week? Faceplanted in front of everyone.”
Quinn nearly choked on her drink, laughing. “You’re kidding.”
“Wish I was,” Blaine said, grinning. “Apparently, he was trying to show off and totally miscalculated. Classic Sebastian.”
Quinn shook her head, laughing. “He’s never going to live that down. I can’t wait to bring it up next time he tries to act like he’s Mr. Perfect.”
“Exactly,” Blaine said, tapping his fork against his tray. “It’s our moral duty to keep him humble.”
Before Blaine could respond, Sebastian appeared, sliding into the seat across from them. He glanced between the two of them, immediately catching the shift in their energy. “Talking about me again?” he asked, his tone teasing.
“Always,” Quinn said, smirking. “You’re the family entertainment.”
Sebastian leaned back in his chair, his smirk growing. “I aim to please.”
“We were just discussing your big moment at practice last week. Must’ve been… humbling.”
Sebastian groaned, rolling his eyes. “Of course you know about that. I should’ve figured Blaine wouldn’t be able to keep his mouth shut.”
Blaine held up his hands innocently. “Hey, it’s not my fault you gave everyone such a great story.”
“Traitor,” Sebastian muttered, though his lips twitched into a small smile.
Quinn grinned, leaning back in her chair. “This is the highlight of my day. Please, tell us more about how it happened.”
As Sebastian tried to defend himself with exaggerated explanations and Blaine occasionally chimed in with more teasing details, Quinn watched them both, a subtle smile on her face. It was moments like this, easy, carefree, and full of laughter, that made everything feel normal again. It was strange, seeing Blaine and her brother together like this, but it was also… nice. They made sense in a way she hadn’t expected. And though she’d never admit it out loud, she was happy for them. For now, she’d let them have this moment, after all, they’d earned it.
