This is a little outline, this isn’t a fic.
Lan (the surname is from a non-magical member from the Lan Clan, who went to the muggle world. It happened a few hundred years ago) Huaisang (Nie Huaisang) grows up with his mother's family. His mother’s family is a muggle family. (Who knows their ancestor has magic?) Huaisang doesn’t show any sight of magic at all. Well, nobody from his family remembers anything that magic is real. ( a few family disputes, forgetful family member, who believe old forgotten Legend?)
He is half-blood, but his mother and father break up before his father tells her the truths about magic. Mostly, because Nie Huaisang biological father assumed she is from the Lan clan. The Lan clan is a magical clan that values education. Huaisang hasn’t had any contact from his father's side since then. So when the letter came, he ignored the letter. Because he is technical a half-blood, the authorities assume he already knows of magic and Hogwarts. When he doesn’t show up, they think Nie Huaisan gets homeschooled. Like any other Lan. Five years later, when he gets his first magic accident in the public. He gets arrested for unauthorized use of magic in front of a muggle.
This brings problems:
- Lan Huaisang doesn’t believe in magic
- Lan Huaisang family don’t believe in magic
- Lan Huaisang thinks he is kidnapped
- Lan Huaisang want a lawyer
- Lan Huaisang doesn’t want to go to Hogwart, so he performs threat ‘magic on propose’
- Lan Huaisang doesn’t have a wand
- Lan Huaisang believe in science
- Lan Huaisang has his A level in a few weeks
In the end, Nie Huaisang must go to Hogwart next few years. And after five years he could decide if he could return to the muggle world. But Nie Huaisang breaks the deal when he performs magic (magic accident) in front of his visiting grandmother. The authority threatens to expel him. Nie Huaisang is like “yes please, the plan is successful”.
The authority doesn’t believe a member of the Lan with more than five years of magical education” lost control.” Until Lan Qiren points out Huaisang isn’t a member of his clan. Lan Qiren also points out Huaisang technically is a muggleborn. They are searching for who screw it up.
The case goes to the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Or Nie Huaisang biological father. Nie Huaisang’s father is like, shit I have another son. Nie Huaisang is not happy to discover his father is a wizard.
Meanwhile, Nie Huaisang stepfather learns wizard law to get Nie Huaisang out. ( Lan Huaisang’s mother’s husband. After break up with his wife for two years, he apologized and want her back in his life. He discovers Lan Huaisang and accepts him as his son. From Huaisang other brother's dad missing to take care of a child, so he spoils Huaisang rotten.)
After a few horrible meetings with his family from his mother's side meet his father's side. It’s decided that Lan Huaisang must attend Hogwarts because his magical accident gets more often and more dangerous.
Nie Huaisang’s school day can summarize to:
- Lan Huaisang complains about the middle Age lifestyle of the wizards.
- Nie Mingjue protect Nie Huaisang from bullies
- Lan Huaisang forgot his wand at least once a day
- Lan Huaisang lost his wand at least once a week.
- Jiang Wangji, Wei Wuxian, and Nie Huaisang get in trouble in a style: using magic to do that is forbidden. We didn’t use magic where using muggle means.
- Wei Wuxian discover the foundation of magic technique and technical spells and blew himself/ the school up
- Lan Huaisang meets his brother's best frien. He thinks Lan Xichen is a hot guy.
- Lan Huaisang discovers he is theoretically a member of the Lan clan. His crush dies when he discovers he crush his “cousin”( well, maybe five hundred years ago they were a family)
- Lan Huaisang discovers Jiang Cheng’s future brother-in-law is a hot guy too.
- People want Nie Huaisang accept magic.
Nie Huaisang going on a summer holiday with his family. Lan Huaisang plans to never come back to school. But life has another plan. The evil wizard Wen kidnapped Nie Huaisang and his older brother (muggle) (OC) to be hostage against his biological father.
Jiang Cheng, Wei Wuxian, and Jin Zixuan are hostage against they parent too. The process could be broken down to:
- Magic trace is removed from their wand, because somehow because the evil wizard doesn’t want them got to discover through minor magic surveillance.
- They escape.
- Non-magical survival training with Lan Huaisang muggle brother.
- The other boys keep forgetting Lan Huaisang’s muggle brother is a muggle ( Nie Huaisang’s muggle brother works in the military. Nobody knows for sure what he does.)
- They got caught by the Evil Wizard
- They escape again, this time with important evidence that Evil wizard Wen is Evil.
- Nie Mingjue and Lan Xichen find them and bring them home.
- Wei Wuxian gets lost, Lan Zhan finds him. But Wei Wuxian had used dark magic to survive.
- Jin Zixuan disowns his father.
- Evil Wizard Wen get arrested
- Wei Wuxian gets therapies, after using dark magic he is a little unstable.
- The four of them get house arrest after they were kidnapped on a secret shopping trip.
- Lan Huaisang become a Nie. After accepting his biological father as father number 2.
- Nie Huaisang has three parents and many siblings.
The epilog gets down to:
- Jin Zixuan becomes the head of the family.
- Evil wizard Wen and senior Jin Zixuan flew and become wanted criminals.
- Nie Huaisang’s muggle brother and Nie Mingjue become friends (bond over Nie Huaisang laziness and desire to protect him, jobs in the law enforcement)
- Nie huaisang can say bye-bye to his lifestyle with two big brothers breathing down his neck.
- Nie Huaisang flew to Lan Xichen and forgot Lan Qiren is there too. Nie Huaisang respects you, ancestor, by learning and study holiday begin.
- Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan romance, that accidentally Nie Huaisang set off ( Could you announce your relationship after this horrible house arrest, what you haven’t confessed yet? oops)
- Nie Huaisang find happiness.
Extra:
- Jin Zixuan weeding, Nie Huaisang is heartbroken, Lan Xichen gets his chance to win Nie Huaisang over.
- Mengyao is late, finally, I get my father's approval. I find the wizarding world. After learning his father is a criminal. He is not sure if he wants to stay in the wizarding world. Nie Mingjue offert him a job. Nie Huaisang’s muggle brother offers him a job too.
- Jiang Cheng suffers from Wangxian. After Wei Wuxian move out, suddenly Jiang Cheng is an only child.
