“James, where are we going?”
“Don’t you trust me, Lily?”
She looked at him with narrowed eyes. “Should I?”
The smile he gave her made it worth sneaking through the castle after curfew. “Yes.”
“Alright. But if we get caught-”
“I’ll make it worth your while. Promise.”
Lily nodded, and put her hand in James’s. She followed him through the little passageway, thinking about how she would have followed him anywhere. She did trust him, implicitly. How had he worked his way so much into her life that she couldn’t imagine it without him?
